I voted small effect , but it'd actually be a large one for me. I love scrapes , my favorite part about the NHL. I'd still watch the Wings because I love them , but with no fighting , Hockey wouldnt be as entertaining to watch.

I've been happy with his play so far. Emmerton is playing with Gilles and Tyrell , both are not known for there offence and there on the 4th line. There supposed to bring energy and they have. Pyett hasent done much , but he is only the 6th/7th defenceman. He's been steady in the games he's played in. Oh and I think Emmerton is 6'0 , its either that or 5'10

Just making a quick point to what NN and Yzer19 are argueing over. I think Hasek couldve been a candidate for the Smythe that year too. But Yzerman , Lidstrom , Fedorov or Hasek all wouldve been deserving of it.

Like NN said , Moreau tried to do something about it and failed misarably at it. Sometimes it backfires , but i'll give him credit for trying. Fighting , is not nessecary, but If you want to have a team with skilled euros on it , you better have some tough (gritty , guys who will drop the mits and defend there teammates) to protect them. If we have a guy like Neil on our team , Stuart doesnt lay a hand on Zetterberg in that game versus calgary, he'd be too frigentened because hes a puss and can only pick on players smaller then him. If Z's healthy for the rest of the season , he gets 40 goals and 90 points easily. And hes healthy going into the playoffs , who knows what he couldve done 100% healthy. Im all for having a fighter/enforcer/guy who can give you 15 solid minutes a night , over Kopecky or Samuleson. 10 times outta 10 , a guy like Neil , Asham , Clowe or Mayers gets picked over a Kopecky , Samuleson.

One of the reasons I wanted Markov back was to have a Lilja-Markov pairing. Markov isnt a bad fighter , but he could teach Lilja a thing or two and that would help with the grit factor. On the Gauthier thing , I'd love to see Lilja drop them with Dennis ... and kick his ass!

I miss him like crazy! But did I know it was time to retire? Yes , he was playing on Heart , and as courageous as that is (and beleive me , it is!) his body just couldnt do it. Do I think with a healthy Schnieder and a 06/07 Yzerman we wouldve won the cup? Of course I do , but that doesnt change the fact that it cant happen now. I miss you Stevie , help out Holland bring one or two more back to Detroit before Chelios and Lidstrom retire.

Martin-Matchichuk White-Green Luckowich-Oduya Wow , thats horrible. Im all for gritty defence , but it has to have some skill. There forwards arent exactly great either. Parise and Elias are the only "star" forwards they have , the rest are 2nd rate guys , who play hard. And then guys like Madden and Pandolfo, who are great defensive players. I dont see them making the playoffs

Cant say Im one of them! The only reason I liked Lilja for the tail end of the season was because he fought Moen and Sharp. And in the Calgary series when he and Markov started scrappin with the Flames behind the net after Cleary fell into Kipprusoff.

As long as he signs for the league minimum when his contract expires. But 5 years? we dont need a 39 year old back up. Maybe 3 or 4 for sentimental values , but not 5.
