I don't want them to trade him. I think when he's healthy he is a very good hockey player. But this is 2 straight seasons where he's barely played due to 2 different injuries. I think the Wings brass will examine getting rid of Weiss unless he can find his groin, and then hopefully, his game.

Weiss' season has been a disaster. Played thru an injury because he was with a new team and sucked. Was supposed to be back after the Olympic break to try and right his season. Now he's still out, no one knows why, and the guy might not even get a chance to show if he's even worth half o his contract. If he was the guy in Florida, he'll help us alot. If he misses the remainder of the year, not sure what kind of confidence the Wings brass would have in him going into the summer.

My thoughts exactly. The dive he took when Smith crosschecked him after the hit was brutal too, deserved a punch in the face. Like Columbus is going to miss Comeau for 2 games...

No one is bailing on anything. I care about the Wings and the Lions probably too much in life, but this season the way it's gone is not going to end pleasantly. That's just the truth of the situation. I've never seen them miss the playoffs, but overcoming this many injuries when they already gave away so many points early in the year just isn't likely.

All this season reinforces is how impressive the stretch run to get into the playoffs last year was. Howard was superb, and Z drove the bus. Now we're without Z, Howie is inconsistent and we're barely treading water. When we signed Alfie and Weiss in the summer I didn't predict this!

I'm not trying to be negative. But this is the best goaltending performance we've had in a while and we're down 3-1. We are without our 4 centers that started the year and our captain. The East is too tight, and we pissed away too many points early in the year. Saying we aren't going to make the playoffs isn't pessimistic at this point, it's facts.

The sad truth of the Wings right now, is if we don't get superb goaltending and the Franzen line doesn't dominate, we're gonna struggle to get points. Jurco going down makes it even more difficult.
