I doubt Kenny acquires a rental forward, despite our cap situation. But a guy like Tom Gilbert seems like a no brainer to me, logs 20mins a night for the Panthers, has put up great possession stats on a non-playoff team, and has 25 points from the backend. Not to mention he's a RH shot, seems like a very Brad Stuart like pickup.

I'm very much inclined to believe that rumor. He was brutal for GR, suffered a legit injury (again) and if he goes on LTIR he still gets paid but we gain his cap space and roster spot. He's been done since last year, now maybe for good. Adding to Hank being on LTIR for the home stretch, I'd be surprised if Holland sits on his hands when he all of a sudden has so much room. Just having a quick look on CapGeek, with Z and Sammy on LTIR and having a 23 man roster (sans Jurco, with Sheahan) we'd have just over 7 mil to make a move.

The Datsyuk stuff is disappointing, so is Weiss' news. However I read in the mlive article that Samuelsson is on IR after sustaining an injury in GR, so that gives us even more flexibility going forward.

Every member of the management team has more hair, with the exception of Peter Chiarelli. That is bad.

Why does Par Marts hate Ekman-Larsson?? I'm cheering for Canada, but it doesn't make sense to sit an elite offensive guy on the bench while you continue to give E, Oduya and Edler top minutes when all there doing is turning over the puck. Can't wait for the game to end, cheer and be happy for Canada and then go back to hating Toews, Crosby, Perry, etc.

Well based on the Mlive article, if we can get into the dance Z should be healthy and ready to go. We have his cap space in LTIR at the deadline to make a move now for a rental, we could still make some noise this year. Not sure why it'd be an unpopular opinion, Doughty is one of the best defenceman in the world. I'd trade DK+Smith+1st for him in an instant, even though that'd never get it done. He's that good.

Doughty is some kinda player. Other then that boring game, I hate the big ice. Only game I've really enjoyed watching so far was the US/RUS game. Hope Canada wins gold, but if not, lets just get the NHL going again.

Tatar's been stellar for Slovakia, had Varlamov beat too. Good experience for the guy, same with Jurco and Nyquist. Young guys playing good on the big stage.

Swiss upset the Czechs 1-0. Hiller was good, the Swiss play a suffocating NJ devils style hockey on the big ice, very effective. Wonder if Hudler or Vrbata could've added some pop for the Czechs? Still a stupid decision leaving those 2 home.

Datsyuk was the story of the game, and Oshie was the story of the shootout. That was unbelievable.
