Seen worse. In all honesty, it was obvious he'd get suspended. I was expecting a figure around the 8-9 mark. However I'll admit I wasn't fully aware of the full extent of Torres and his horrific suspension history. He targets players heads, no doubt. Still, 25 games is a bit steep but that is basically playoffs+preseason which is OK by me.

Grr, I signed in literally just to post that exact sentence. I missed my chance to be hilarious.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's playing mind games.

Can't believe I watched the from start to finish. That's definitely a time to get beer.

Nothing excuses a lack of effort. Nothing. Injuries or no injuries, players not giving it their all is a disgrace. They didn't try last night either, so they can't use the back-to-back excuse.

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET
uk_redwing replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Gaustad would please me. David Jones, not so much. If people accuse Gaustad as a size for the sake of size trade, what level does that put soft as butter David Jones at? I wouldn't mind seeing Kindl or Emmerton moved for a trade. I think we have enough cover for both. Would prefer to keep Mursak however as he has more upside in my opinion and hasn't had as much chance. -
Thought the cap hit might have been a bit lower... Bert must be in much better shape these days. Good to hear.

Indeed. Grand Rapids play Hamilton tonight though. I shall be watching that

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Not sure what exactly Kindl's done that Commodore hasn't anyway. Commodore's been steady, physical and always had a positive effect on Ericsson's performances as well. Win win situation surely? Obviously not. Don't think the issue with Commodore has anything to do with hockey. One of those things. -
Don't know what's wrong with Commodore, personally. Apart from Babcock of course. Kindl's done nothing to take the regular 3rd pairing spot. *insert angry rant etc. cba*

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?
uk_redwing replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Don't forget Mike Commodore as well. He said Detroit wasn't the only team that offered him a contract on July 1st but clearly Babcock doesn't like him. Shame, but five healthy scratches later and I have a feeling... -
Add me as another one in the why is Kindl playing and not Commie camp. We all know how the Ducks play...maybe Babcock really doesn't like Commie? Ericsson plays better when Commie plays. Ericsson-Kindl is a nervy pairing. Dislike. Bleugh. LGW!

We won both our fights against Vancouver. I personally think our best fighter is actually non other than Jonathan Ericsson and I think Ben Eager knew it too. Ericsson could easily be a LHW if he got a bit meaner every now and then. Wonder if all the extra passion will keep up after the trade deadline has passed...

Would have preferred Commodore over Kindl.

Why don't some people have the ability to think?

Do you not realise the difference in the amount of video clips online from the last few years (Eaves) and over a decade ago (prime Maltby)? Especially with your posting attitude. Amount of clips on Youtube, given the different era's, is not a viable argument.

Apart from "we are so healthy" being a stupid thing to say half way through the season, stopping players taking runs at players is only one plus of having some bangers/fighters. What about creating energy when a team is down? Wearing the other team down on the grind? Allowing players to play and feel protected? Not to mention providing fantastic entertainment and creating tasty rivalries? Eh? Also the post you quoted as the best post wasn't very good either. Trying to call the 96-97 Avs-Wings brawling team soft is a ******* joke if you ask me. They only had McCarty, Pushor, Lapointe, Shanahan and JOEY KOCUR. What a bunch of cup winning softies.

Don't want to get involved with this debate, but f*** me you're one to talk! All you ever seem to do these days is belittle other members who have different opinions to you. I agree with Cherry, but he's is a rambling idiot and no-one will ever listen to him because he's usually wrong.
-
Dupuis deserves special mention/recognition because he's played 30 games as a Leafs' forward this season and racked up 0 goals and 0 assists in that time. It's not because he's some sort of goon either (he doesn't fight...at all), he's just managed to avoid any sort of offensive contribution all season long... Link I think that's impressive. Wouldn't you just hate to learn you were on his line?

2012 NHL Winter Classic GDT : New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers

It makes the US look so great to all other countries worldwide watching... -
Gays were persecuted heavily by the Nazi's in WWII. If you were *** and in the Axis empire, your fate was the same as the Jewish and Gypsy fate. There's a hell of a lot of countries out there that will burn/stone you for homosexuality, as well. I wouldn't say they haven't had similar sufferings. From medieval times up until about a century ago in nearly every country open homosexuality would earn you a trip to the gallows/prison.

Sadly, I don't think the rules will be parallel for all sides. Just the way it is. Barch is gonna be gone a while. Deservedly.
-
If you're going to battle right in front of the net, you're gonna get cross checked. That's hockey. It may not be Red Wings hockey which obviously shocks a few people here, but it's the standard way of clearing the crease. Suckerpunching a guy is classless. If you're mad, drop the gloves and fight, don't blindside a guy. Good on Rupp for making Kopecky cower in an actual fight.

And me. Abdelkader is frustrating. He was a force in the AHL when he was charging around, scoring goals and fighting anything that moved and in his first couple of seasons here he was always looking for a hit, especially down low. He doesn't do any of those now. You'd think someone who's only scored two goals this season (less than a large number of fighters/enforcers) would be looking to be contribute in as many other ways as possible.
