Well hes pretty well liked in the organisation, posted some decent numbers in a disappointing season and brought some toughness and grit the team lacked in the early parts of the season. Good both screening the net on the PP and great on the PK and stuck up for teammates throughout the season... I cant see any reason why he would be gone, unless he wants to go somewhere where he has a better chance of making the NHL. I still think he could be a 4th liner for the Wings but meh.

Jason Williams...possibly the worst free agent signing in many years.

Boogaard has a habit of being injury prone...but at 6'7 and 260lbs he's probably one of the few enforcers in this league who only have to be in the roster to scare other players. Boogaard contributes offense as often as Hudler will provide a physical presence, so Holland wont sign him. Steve Downie, Brad Staubitz, Aaron Asham, Brad Winchester and Daniel Carcillo would all do me fine.

Maybe he can find a way on to the #7 spot if Lidstrom retires. Otherwise, as he cleared waivers would he really find it that easy to get a one-way contract with another team? At any rate, we need him in Grand Rapids...Im sure we can find a way.

He did very well in Grand Rapids in his short time down there, and would definately be an improvement over Meech, Lebda etc. Maybe another half season in Grand Rapids to get used to the Wings style of play and he could easily take that #7 defensive spot.

Ville Leino was practically a heavyweight enforcer, due to the time spent in the super tough Finnish League.

Eva's math is flawless. Eva's math logic says based on the 08-09 season stats (4GP, 1 Goal, 1 Assist), Aaron Downey playing on first line minutes with NO PP time would result in an 150+ point season. If he was put on the powerplay, scoring records would no doubt be smashed.

Everyone on here united (for possibly the only ever time) in disgust at the Williams signing and how right we were! What the hell was Holland thinking? As for Ericsson, he needs to at least start playing physical if hes going to play s***e. Otherwise, try him on the 4th forward line and see what happens.

An injured Eaves slowly skating around doing nothing would be on a par with what Williams provides.
