Very true. It was noticable when Downey was with us as well, when (again) guys like Cleary and even Rafalski dropped the gloves sticking up for themselves and a teammate respectively. Whether this has any effect on the scoreline is debatable, but it definately makes for more entertaining hockey.

I've noticed this as well. NHL On The Fly shows every fight, as does the highlights on the NHL's youtube channel. I can only assume theyve realised that all the noise crowds made when there was a fight wasnt them screaming in anger that they wanted a powerplay, or perhaps that goalies shouldnt be allowed in certain parts of the ice but because they get as giddy and wild as Micky Redmond when two players throw down.

Well...hes available for selection anyway. I wouldnt be surprised if he played though. Griffins are out of the playoff hunt so they might as well give him some ice time. I dont think his foot speed is much of an issue anymore... As the Griffins coach has said before, Tardif does the little things that win you games. Battling for the puck in the corners, leadership, screening the net, sticking up for teammates... However Ive always had the feeling hes never going to make it to Detroit. He's a 4th line NHLer for sure, but I dont think hes Detroit's type of 4th liner. Im not gonna go into why, we all know.

He did get to 20 goals in the very last game. So far in 3 playoff games Mitch has 2 goals and 1 assist.

Still not playing as physical as he should be though. In front of the net hes good at clearing the crease, but otherwise theres nothing. Can somebody let him know that hes huge?

Except Boogaard doesnt do that kind of stuff, and neither do most heavys. Its the Avery, Ott, Tucker, Cooke and Tootoo's of the league this is aimed at.
