We dont have enough cap room to re-sign him and have the depth we need. I wont be happy if he returns, nothing against him personally, but his lack of any defensive skills and small size really do get annoying sometimes. As do his lack of even strength goals. Id rather take the draft picks.

Theres a difference between a fighter and an enforcer. Hes the best of the best fighting wise, but when it comes to actually doing his job as an enforcer, he does nothing.

Laraque is the WORST enforcer in the league.

Andre Roy...all I remember him by is his legendary "ima kill you" meltdown. And he had a fight with Downey last pre-season and seemed of equal fighting ability so its not really a step up. I think Travis Moen is the best candidate left for Detroit. A decent LHW/HW, but he can certainly play hockey. His playoff record is especially good for a 4th liner at 15 points in 46 games including 9 goals. Far more than Kopecky's 1 assist in 12 playoff games. If they dont go for Travis Moen, meh. I'll give up and stop thinking about it.

He'd be better than nothing...but it would be a sad day if it had to come to that.

Id take Franzen over Hossa any day. Franzen is a one of the few few big net-driving power forwards we have. We dont need Hossa to win a cup because we already have a zillion guys of his type, but we need a guy like Franzen.

They also got mega superstar top free agent Tomas Kopecky. Hes a proven 20+goals a season player.... ...at AHL level.
