I came into this thread literally just to see if this pun had been said in some form and if not claim it and beat a hasty retreat. I am sad it has been taken. I have literally nothing else to offer this thread.

I don't get why ANY parent would want their kids to have a successful career in hockey, yet think the sport was dangerously violent. Surely it's not for the money? Also, why the hell did that guy not cover up when he was getting his ass kicked instead of kneeling upright like a human punching bag. What an odd story. The guy snow showers the hell out of the goalie and then just takes a beating. Odd.

I knew Tootoo was gone. I've had that feeling for weeks and it's sad to see, but I can't help feeling after all Holland and Babs said about the importance of the role Tootoo plays we won't join the Eastern Conference without finding a suitable replacement. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with Tootoo. He takes less bad penalties than most players on our team and has reasonable production. There's still hope though, but not much. Sad.

Never said you couldn't. And you didn't say he doesn't provide "much," you said "anything" implying no contribution of any kind to the Wings season for both the team and the fans. There are not many feared fighters who are both 4th line players and also point producers. Those that exist cost more than Tootoo.

I see you ignored my point about his point production compared to the other 4th liners. To say "the guy doesn't provide anything" makes me question how long you've been watching the sport of hockey, and why you do so. Baffling what some people come out with sometimes on here.

Sadly, I have had a feeling for a few weeks that Tootoo will be bought out and we'll head East with one of the smallest rosters we've ever had. Not that I think Tootoo should be bought out. I posted somewhere I while back his point-per-minute ratio is higher than any other 4th line player and obviously he is the only recognised agitator on the team. He's a sort of player that is hard to find in the NHL, which is why his cap hit is $1.9m and why players in his same ilk (Chris Neil for example) all command such high salaries. To sum up my feelings: We need him and we won't be able to get a better player than him for cheaper unless we go for an all out enforcer which isn't ideal given our current roster.

I get the feeling we wont be seeing Emmerton or Tootoo in a Winged Wheel next season. Not that I'd bat an eyelid about Emmerton. Good signing as I thought he'd head for the FA market for sure to get a better deal.
