I wish people would stop saying that being able to take a hit make the team physical. Theres a difference to absorbing physical play than actually giving physical punishment. And yes its not just fights, but grit and hits and not backing down in the scrums. Detroit has done none of that this season. And people seem to think that theres no possible way of having a tough team that can win the cup. Erm...so what did Anahiem do in the 06-07 season? Toughest team the league had seen since the lockout, and the breezed past skillful Detroit and the rest of the league. A team needs to be tough. A team needs fighters and to have that mind set of not backing down from anything (Detroit last season anyone?). Its called having a balanced team. An unbalanced team has never won the Stanley Cup. And it wont happen this season.

In NHL09, the team which wins the Stanley Cup is whichever team signs Sabrina Ladha And I notice Detroit always does extremely bad in the game...and in the offseason they lose nearly all their players.

Im talking about the team on a whole and their performance through the entire season. The goaltending and defence just hasnt been there, and so many games we've relied of pure offensive skill to win games. If our offense doesnt get it going then its at least nice to know that there is defensive and goaltending ability to keep the team in the game. I dont feel we have that.

With that high steaming, skilled screening, punch wheeling machine Downey on the team, how can they lose?

I love the way people just believe all of sudden in a few days we're gonna start tearing teams apart. Not gonna happen.

And the only reason that Detroit was last in the 07-08 season is that Downey, unlike other HW's, doesnt fight off the faceoff for no reason. If he did fight off the faceoff like that, then Detroit would be much higher up than that.

Last 15 years you say... Probert? Primeau? Gallant? Carkner? Grimson? Kocur? Shanahan? McCarty? Lapointe? Konstantinov? Pushor? Fischer? Avery? Bootland? Drake? Downey? What a soft bunch of players...although the last 6 season or so the wings have lost nearly all toughness they once had, theyve only won one cup in that time, in a season where they had Downey, Drake and McCarty. Last time they won the cup they had McCarty, Shanahan and Avery.
