Babcock has done Cleary a huge favour by putting him on the first line. Obviously his hope is Pav can set up enough chances for Cleary he'll score an open net or something, maybe get an assist and then people can claim he's back at his best. Hope is funny thing.

Holland seemed a little rattled in that interview which if nothing else alleviates any fears I had that he's burying his head in the sand. He can see there's a problem, but whether he's too stubborn to actually rectify it is another matter. I wasn't expecting much more from him. A couple of excuses here, a couple of ramblings there. His insistence on and attempted defence of his awful old folk FA signings, whilst expected, was still infuriating to hear. In all honesty I've no faith in him to make this team any better than it is unless we land on a a draft goldmine like with Dats, Z and co. Shudder to think where we'd be without our scouts. ^ Some of us have been saying all this for years now. Years!

All this for Dan Cleary and his 1 goal. Just like the Sammy signing we all saw this coming. Literally every single one of us. It's insane.

Griffins will continue to be fun to watch.

I realise waiving Samuelsson won't provide any cap relief...but does anyone really care so long as he's gone? I'd rather take his cap hit and have an empty space and use an emergency recall when needed.
-
Tootoo being waived whilst Samuelsson and Cleary remain on this team is a travesty. A travesty made in the office of one Ken Holland.

I have no problem with fighting, line brawls or brawls of any kind. Just so long as all combatants are willing or haven't done anything on a Lemieux scale to deserve a beating. The only thing you can say in defence of Emery was that he held back. Those punches he threw were pretty weak so he obviously knew what he was doing was wrong. Following orders? Apart from the ridiculous goalie fight that was a pretty good brawl. At least Holtby was all smiles afterwards. To call for suspensions out of this is a bit over the top.
-
Surely Samuelsson would prefer to be traded and actually play rather than be benched for the entire season? Can't believe Tootoo is the odd man out in all this mess when he's been the only player to consistently exceed everyone's expectations. Not to mention the dimension he brings which no one else on this team does. It's a mess, but Holland created it by signing Sammy to a god awful contract with a NTC and re-signing Cleary. At least Grand Rapids will be great to watch with a 4th line of Tootoo - Grant - Callahan.

I see the NHL finally got my letter about me having to stay up late to watch games. Cheers Gary.

per the Red Wings twitter: https://twitter.com/DetroitRedWings/status/388694052369346560 Never been the biggest Emmerton fan. Just too unremarkable to sustain an NHL place at a club like the Wings.

Cory Emmerton and Petr Mrazek sent to Grand Rapids

I'm hoping Glendening gets a shot. He's fairly similar to Emmerton in terms of offensive skill set but grittier and has a physical edge. Just a more noticeable type of player for a 4th line/PK role. -
Steve Yzerman wants Game Misconduct penalties for fighting

If you take out fighting because it's dangerous soon you remove hitting, soon you make the puck lighter and soon you make the blades blunter and on it goes...Ice hockey is not a safe sport. It's played on ice for f***s sake. It'll never be safe. The topic of getting rid of fighting is boring and pointless. There are many far more dangerous aspects of the sport. The players want it. Most of the fans want it. People who don't watch the sport and the media make a fuss because they're bored. f*** them all. -

Well common sense says the weight of body checks and speeds versus the lower mass and stationary targets of fist fighting by the laws of physics body checks will have more energy. -

From experience. -

That's because off balance punches are no where near as dangerous and forceful as full body checks to the head. The amount of force between each is vast. I'd rather take 10 punches than 1 body check to the head. More people get injured from blocking shots than fighting. Ban the puck! -
Ken Holland for signing the whipping boys and Babcock for choosing them over other players. As far as players go, it has to be Cleary. Poor guy is on a decline in his career and will likely try and play through the injuries he's likely to get which will only hamper him. The guy's a warrior but he's in the wrong place at the wrong time. That said if Cleary sucks I won't be mad at him. He didn't offer himself a contract.
-
Guy fell awkwardly. Could have happened after a hit, scrum, blowing a tire or any sort of hockey play. He'll be back soon.
-
Shame for him but I was surprised he even made the NHL in the first place. Even at AHL level he was completely unremarkable.
-
Personally very indifferent whether he clears or not.

All about the Mitchell Callahan.

That's one hell-a tough Leafs line up. Yikes. -
My very first thought when that question was asked! Are our memories really that short?
-
Tried something different in a shootout in preseason. Hang him.

Saw Bert had fought someone with the surname Moore so did a quick google to see if he was related to THE Moore...but he isn't.
