  1. but just from my TV it sounds like the Mellon was ten times louder than the Joe.

No doubt, I have a good friend who's a Pens fan, was at the game and gave me a phonecall, I had to hang up on her because I could not hear a single thing over the other people in the arena. That place is freakin loud.

But about a "blackout"--according to Brodeur, the puck can't be seen against a black background, so you will likely not see that. But a gold-out would be something odd to see if nothing else.

  2. The problem with Kolzig is that he does not want to share goaltending duties; he wants to be the clear-cut starter, that's why he's leaving DC.

As a Caps fan, it saddens me that he doesn't realize the time has come to take a cut in playing time.

  3. What a bummer for you. I am in Alabama and have Charter cable....i was able to get the game on versus, but it was listed as being on FSN south, but since it's a regional thing they hardly ever show the hockey game when they are supposed to (which happened tonight). Does the federal government set the regulations about blackouts? If so I think that it is about time that they get rid of blackout restrictions....or networks at least allow people to stream things online because there's nothing that'll ruin your day like looking forward to watching a big game on tv and finding out just as the thing is starting that you are blacked out and no one really knows why or can do anything about it.........

Sorry that you were blacked out! Hopefully next game you won't have problems since they won't be joining in progress (and maybe it'll be an actual versus feed instead of CBC feed)....

I believe that the individual leagues deal with the blackouts; if I'm not mistaken, MLB is thinking about changing their restrictions soon.

  4. I just called versus and apparently if you live 200 miles away from Nashville, you are still in their blackout zone. They told me I should watch it on FSN South but I don't have south.

    This is ridiculous.

Wow, that's some crazy BS right there. They seriously need to do something about their blackout restrictions, it's absolutely ridiculous, I think that if you don't live within a reasonable driving distance of the team then you should get to watch it on TV ... don't know how they expect to have fans any other way. I know that the fiasco in PA made the Philadelphia Inquirer, so maybe that'll help motivate them to fix it.

  5. Why is Versus not allowed to show the Wings game in my local broadcasting area (Central KY)?

I'm not in either Detroit or Nashville's broadcasting areas. How else am I supposed to watch the game? I'm trying to watch it on some website but the lag is horrible.

    Why?

I don't think you're supposed to be blacked out. This happened in PA with the Devils/Rangers game on Sunday. Only if you are within 50 miles of either participating team's city is the game supposed to be blacked out. I'd call VS and tell them about it, they'll look it up to make sure. The rep I spoke with regarding being blacked out on Sunday was super-nice, but they didn't get it fixed before the game was over. But telling them that there is a problem might prevent it from happening again--I got tonight's Devils/Rangers game.

  6. In the case of the Caps, it's more the division alignments than the too many teams that is the problem as far as attendence and revenues are concerned. The Caps have been around ... 30 years I believe ... they're not new kids on the block, they're not a failed experiment like the Panthers or whatever.

Take a look at this: http://japersrink.blogspot.com/2007/11/dis...nd-dollars.html

    Real eye-opener arguing for realignment.

And ... I live in the DC-MD-PA area, and I can tell you that a good many people have at least some small inkling of who both Crosby and Ovechkin are, Ovechkin's talent isn't being wasted by being in a place that "doesn't care about hockey" or whatever, it's being wasted by a team that lacks identity and any real direction.

  7. You could very well be correct, I was just relaying what I heard on Jim Rome, that's why I'm hoping someone has a link to an actual story.

But again IF IT IS true, like eveyone else here...

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I briefly tried googling it but didn't come up with anything, so *shrugs* who knows.

If it's true, I certainly second the insane laughter. And the people in charge of engraving must be bitter Oilers fans.

  8. I hate to be a party pooper, but I thought that names were put on the Cup after everyone has had their day with it?

If I'm wrong, please do carry on with the laughter, because that would be made of greatness.

  9. Leave the nets alone... get rid of the instigator rule.

I agree. There are much better changes that could be made to make the NHL product more attractive. Plus, bigger nets would really give it a soccer-on-ice feeling.
