2008 Playoff pics megaupload link - Over 1800 pics!
Wingfan191 replied to Wingfan191's topic in General
No problem guys, I just wish I had more of the first 2 rounds, I didn't realize that you could find more pics if you DIDN'T go to the Red Wings section of the CBS Sportsline photo page and just browsed through the default photos page. Also that Getty puts up a lot more pics later that night and the following day. But now I know, and next year I'll make sure to get ALL of them. -

Relax guys, you DO realize that Burnside is covering the Penguins while Hradek covers the Wings right? They've been assigned each team to cover which is why their articles are team heavy towards the team they're covering. They said this during one of the NHL Minute clips after game 1 or 2 (can't remember which one). Some of you need to realize that you need to cover BOTH teams in the finals and write interesting stories to gain readers. So the team that's down has more to write about as to how to come back and win instead of writing about the Wings and saying the same damn thing every time (just stay focused, stick to our game plan, blah blah blah).

So I calculated some stats out for the final 4 teams in the playoffs in terms of where their goal scoring is coming from. This will include today's Flyers/Pens game through the game so far (6-0 Pens), I'll update it after the game as well... Goals by Flyers players 10, 9, 7, 6, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 1, 1 = 52 goals in 17 games played = 3.06 goals a game 26 by the top 3 = 8.67 per player 26 by the remaining team that has scored (9 players) = 2.88 goals per player 26 by the rest of the players who have played at least one game, not including the top 3 players (19) = 1.37 goals per player Goals by Pens players 9, 9, 6, 6, 5, 4, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 = 51 goals in 14 games played = 3.64 goals a game 24 by the top 3 = 8 per player 27 by the remaining team that has scored (11 players) = 2.45 goals per player 27 by the rest of the players who have played at least one game, not including the top 3 players (16) = 1.69 goals per player Goals by Dallas players 9, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 = 44 goals in 17 games played = 2.6 goals a game 18 by the top 3 = 6 per player 26 by the remaining team that has scored (13 players) = 2 goals per player 26 by the rest of the players who have played at least one game, not including the top 3 players (21) = 1.24 goals per player Goals by Detroit players 12, 10, 8, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1 = 51 goals in 15 games played = 3.4 goals a game 30 by the top 3 = 10 per player 21 by the remaining team that has scored (10 players) = 2.1 goals per player 21 by the rest of the players who have played at least one game, not including the top 3 players (18) = 1.17 goals per player So the Wings have the lowest secondary scoring in the playoffs as of now out of the 4 remaining teams. Though our top three are the best (when Franzen is playing). Lines 2-4 need to step it up!

Hehe, while I'm glad we kept Flip, he'll be player soon enough, Hossa wasn't the answer, there were other players out there that wouldn't have cost a lot.
-
Yeah it's called we don't have any scoring beyond 2 (3 whenever Franzen comes back) players. Don't give me this Hudler bulls***, he has 4 goals in 15 games, Flip has 3, Homer has 3, Sammy has 2, and Cleary has 1. THAT'S your problem. It's not goaltending, it's not defense. It's scoring beyond 3 f'n guys. With Franzen being out the last 3 games, it's showing everyone that we're a one line team. But no, we didn't need another scoring forward at the deadline, we needed Brad Stuart to take runs at guys and miss causing 2 on 1's...

I don't know how many of you guys know this, but if you go to the CBS Sportsline website, then to the NHL section, then to the Photos section at the very bottom, you can see photos from the games that night, practices, and press conferences. However, they're small and not worth saving, BUT there's a trick to get to the high res versions. Here's how to do it... First, go here... http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/photos Now, you can choose any team from the drop down menu on the right, or just look through the main images which are updated every day. Ok, so now here comes the cool part. For any picture that's by Getty Images or the AP Photo people, you can get high res versions of them. This trick will not work for photos via US Presswire. First, find a photo you like... We'll use this one as an example... Right click the image and choose "Copy Image Location", which looks like this http://images.sportsline.com/u/gettyimages...51300_lower.jpg Ok, now paste that address into your address bar, but now here's the trick; replace the word "lower" with "1024x768". Now you'll get this... http://images.sportsline.com/u/gettyimages...00_1024x768.jpg The images will not always be an actual 1024x768 resolution, sometimes they're bigger, sometimes they're smaller. It's just a way they denote the higher res image. I've been saving all the images I can from the playoffs this year that involve the Red Wings so I can make wallpapers or whatever later on. Getty Images seems to be the best looking pics, but the AP ones aren't that bad either. Enjoy!

Yeah, just for the record guys, NEVER go by ESPN's boxscores right after the games for the +/-., they are SO FAR off it's not even funny. You have to wait at least an hour or so after the game is over for them to be correct. Use NHL.com's stat sheets to see the correct +/- right after a game, they're 99% correct.

Who in the world would demand that Hasek start in round 2!?? I don't think it needs to be said that we'll be riding Ozzie until he falters, then it'll switch back to Dom, who by then could be back on his game for all we know. Just enjoy the moment and hope we don't run into any rough spots.

It should show up on this site http://www2.myp2p.eu/competition.php?compe...pline=icehockey keep checking back, and use the Windows Media Player Versus feed for the best quality.

There's a lot to factor in with Hasek though. He's not a big goalie, he's very very skinny. He weighs like 165 lbs for crying out loud. That's extra width he doesn't have over basically every other goalie in the league. Pucks were going in under his arm or right above his shoulder, and while I'm definetly not saying this is the be all end all cause to goals being scored on him, it has SOME to do with it. Also, like Babcock said in his interviews, pucks just weren't hitting Dom. He's having a string of back luck the past 3 games. If he's maybe an inch to his right or left, the puck hits him and it's a save. If you look at the shot charts from the last few games, most of the goals were scored from far out. But look how many saves he makes from shots in the slot and in close, quite a few. Now you HAVE to think that any NHL goalie will stop a shot from the point if he can see it and it doesn't get deflected, so why were goals going in on him from far our? Simple, he wasn't seeing the puck nearly as well as he would've liked to. I don't care if he's 23 years old, or 43 years old, a goalie will stop a shot he can see if he can get set and in position. And you can't believe that an NHL goaltender just all of a sudden loses his reaction time and reflex's over a month's time. Just look at the goals that went in on him the past game. First goal was a cross crease one timer on the pp. The Preds D man got off a great shot and got it up high, that's a perfect shot. No goalie is gonna stop that unless the shooter just shoots it into them. They won't have time to react to get a glove on it. Dom was in good position too, he got over in time, in the butterfly, he wasn't trying some crazy pad stack save, and the shooter made a great shot. End of story. The 2nd goal he never saw until probably it got past Kronwall's butt. I've watched that replay over and over again from the behind the net cam, and while it's of course not exactly what Dom can see, I never saw the D man take the shot due to Kronwall and the Preds player skating right in front of Dom as the shot was being taken. Also, add in the fact that Drake slide down to try and block the shot, putting another body in the way. Dom was at the top of his crease, set, and ready to stop that shot, yet it still went in to his RIGHT. That means he never had time to judge where the shot was actually going, he played it as best he could and had to hope it hit him. The shot gets to the net in under a second, and if he can't see it being fired, that means Dom has less than half a second to pick it up and react to it, it's too late by then. The third goal was one I think he would've had if not for the Preds player skating right in front of him before the shot got to Dom. Dom appeared to have seen the shot get taken cleanly, but yet it still got past him, so why? Like I said, right before the puck was about to hit Dom, a Preds player skated right in front of him and probably startled or made him second guess where the puck would end up so he relaxed on the save, thus allowing it to go under his arm. He has to assume that the Preds player skating in front is going to try and tip it in, so he can't be frozen in a save position if he thinks he'll have to react to a tip. That's my theory on the last 3 goals which have gotten past him, but I still don't think it's just due to his lack of skill. It's bad breaks and bad timing, and sometimes you need to just step back and let someone else come in, ie, Ozzie, to try and right the ship. I'm sure Hasek wants the team to win more than anything and prides a Cup victory over his GAA and save % in the playoffs at this point in his career. If Osgood has a rough couple of games, I would have no problem with Dom coming back in and trying to re-deem himself. Perhaps by then, the fortunes will have changed and the bounces will go his way.

Has anyone noticed by now that when we're on the road and the other team really tries to line match against us due to the playoffs, we usually do poorly? That goes to show we need deeper scoring on our top 2 lines because what we have now ain't working. Where's Cleary, Flip, Franzen, and Samuelsson? Hell, where's Zatta been? 2 goals in the 1st game is nice but it's game 4 buddy, we need a bit more.
-
God our 2nd pp line is just HORRIBLE. Hudler, Sammy, and Cleary/Hartigan? We need some better forwards for next year, haha.
-
The internet feed will be up as soon as the rangers/devils game is over here http://www1.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid...amp;part=sports Radio feed is at NHL.com
-
we get the next goal before the end of the 1st and we're right back into this thing guys. Zatta almost had us up 1-0 in the first 2 minutes, it's a game of bounces and luck.
-
Dom never saw it at least, if that's anything...
-
ugh, Nashville feed on Center Ice tonight.
-
I actually think it got pushed back to 9:30pm now. At the end of the VS telecast tonight, they showed the preview for tomorrow's Rangers/Devils game at 7:00, then said to stay tuned for the Wings/Preds at 9:30pm.
-
Every goalie has a bad game, look what happened to Backstrom and Turco tonight. Even Biron/Huet are letting in 3 or more goals a game. I think Price and Fleury have been the best goalies so far in the playoffs (though Fleury hasn't exactly been tested as much as the stats are showing, it's not the same Ottawa team that was 1st in scoring this year). I just don't see a need to jump on Hasek's back for one sub-par outing out of 3 games. If he f's up Wednesday, then I'd be willing to put Ozzie in.

If anyone can't see the game due to not having VS, here's a FANTASTIC stream for it http://www2.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid...amp;part=sports Use the Windows Media Player link, I was using it last night for the Sens/Pens game and it was amazing.

I dunno, guess you can try it now and see if it works. I would believe it would.

How are you going to scratch players when you have no one left you can play? With Kopecky out and Homer coming back in, all you can replace is one person with McCarty.
-
Well that was a weak goal for Dom to let up since he saw that all the way and no one tipped it, but damn isn't that ALWAYS the case, you get a great scoring chance in their end and they come right back and score. I HATE that. And it makes it worse thatn it was a BJ's rookie to score that goal instead of OUR rookie. Grrrrrr. Come on Wings, tie it up and just get to OT so we get that point.
