Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?
Cincywingnut replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I just contacted the proper person in the league offices. For those on DirecTV, it should be on 215 and 215 HD. The announcers said that there were "technical difficulties" on both feeds. My contact confirms that this is correct and that they are working to correct the problems now. Whether or not this will happen before the end of the third period is anybody's guess. In the meantime I am listening to the game on NHL Radio. -
Looks like the NHL Network has come to the USA. I can see it now on Ch 215 (also a HD version) on DirecTV. It says it's a preview right now.

Problems with DirecTV / Dish / Center Ice blackouts
Cincywingnut replied to Bluedevils_13's topic in General
I live in Loveland, Ohio, near Cincinnati. I would think Toledo would be in the Detroit viewing area, so 636 should be lit up for you. The Wings are on it for sure, since I can watch either 636 or the Center Ice channel assigned to the game AS LONG AS the broadcast is by FSN Detroit (I get the Sports Pak from DirecTV). 636 is blacked out for me only when the Center Ice broadcast is from the other team. It's pretty confusing sometimes. -
Problems with DirecTV / Dish / Center Ice blackouts

I have Center Ice AND HD TV from DirecTV. I am watching the Wings vs. Flames on Center Ice. I see that there is an HD channel on DirecTV that corresponds to the regular channel, but the is nothing on it. I KNOW that the game is in HD in Detroit. Can anyone tell me why I cannot see it in HD on Center Ice???? -
OK. Here's the deal. This comes from the NHL's TV guy. I asked particularly about DirecTV, since that is what I have: "Thanks for your e-mail. The NHL Network has been on the air in Canada since 2001. We are looking to distribute a very similar channel in the US, hopefully as early as this fall. We are currently discussing carriage arrangements with the major carriers, including DirecTV. Unfortunately, these deals take time to complete. Please continue to check NHL.com for releases. "My suggestion would be to stay with DirecTV. If the service does not carry the channel initially, it probably will at some point thereafter. The Network will be 24/7 with a ticker. The programming will be classic games, some live games, features, all-access shows - kind of like a combination of ESPN News and ESPN Classic for hockey. During the season, there will be a nightly highlight, cut-in show called "NHL on the Fly". The channel should be considered a hockey news supplement to NHL Center Ice, not a substitution for it. If you like hockey, you'll love this channel."

I agree. Trading one lazy ass for another makes no sense, especially at $4 million/year. The article's wording seems to imply that the Wings were actually talking money with Yashin's agent; but I am not sure about that. Strange little piece.

Does anyone know where we stand with regard to the cap right now? Assumptions would be that we let Calder and Lang go, of course. Hudler too probably.

I would rather have Smyth than Bert, if I had to make a choice.

Anybody seen anything on what Detroit's round 2 schedule will look like? I know the away games cannot be pinned down until tonight, but I thought we might know when the first two home games will be played at least.

I understand what you are saying here about chemistry. On the other hand, if the second line doesn't start scoring some goals, all it would take to put the Wings on the shelf during the playoffs would be one dirty hit on Zetterberg or Datsyuk. There goes the line and there goes any chance to win the Cup. Holland is keenly aware of the dangers of having only one line that can score, so I think he will continue to try to make a deal. The way (especially) Lang is playing is just unacceptable. I see no chemistry there.

That will work, yes. But it is technically against the terms of the Slingbox licensing agreement. It's considered "stealing" a cable or satellite signal. Still, I don't think it can be prevented.
