Supposedly, ]Ilitch walked by Bettman who tried to shake his hand. Must be why Bettman didn't congratulate Wings or their fans during his little speech before handing the cup to Crosby. Who cares about Crosby. Crosby I think joined the handshake line late. I think I remember seeing Babs congratulating him on his "great leadership" and Crosby just kind of looks away from him and says nothing back.

I met Mrs. Howe and Gordie when they came to Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek back in '93. I was working as a stringer with the BC Enquirer and they sent me to cover an autograph session. I met with them in the mall offices to interview them and the affection between the two of them was evident. Two of the kindest, most sincere people I've ever met. I'll never forget that day.

The team is not playing as if it is committed to team defense as it has been in several past seasons. I believe it's part of a "Cup Hangover" phenomenon. Also, and I'm sorry to say this, but IMO Ozzie has been brutal this season and Ty is just not used to carrying the load this many times this deep into a season. I hope he can hold out and/or that "playoff Ozzie" will reappear come the post season. I hope I'm completely wrong, but soemthing ain't right.

Those masters of journalistic accuracy over at CNN Headline News reported in a short blurb this morning that the Cup was damaged when players took it to a "Detroit bar." I guess someone forgot that it was at Cheli's Chilli Bar.

It would be great if everyone settled down now. The game is now history. Do you think the players are sniping at each other and rehashing who made which mistakes. Good Lord Almighty, I don't think so. I was down after the game as well and really slept for about an hour. But now I can consider things with clearer eyes and here how I see it: The team came back ferociously and played great for all but the 36 seconds or whatever. That's a positive. As Pierre McGuire said at one point, the Wings are playing with house money. Even with the loss, they still have to just win 1, not 2. Another positive. The Wings outshot Pens, by about a 2-1 margin. Outshooting the Pens has been a trend this series amd rest assured, Fluery and the Pens d cannot weather that kind storm for one, let alone two more games. Positive. The Wings have a great locker room/awesome chemistry. Positive

I guess if its all so important to the integrity of the game that "unfairly dropped pucks" are re-dropped, why don't the officials get integrity attacks over all the other stuff they do wrong/miss?

We also lost because of 1st period turnovers and we couldn't clear the puck in the last minute of regulation. Not Ozzie

Do not despair. Wings didn't show up in the first period and the 2 goalie interference penalties wrecked momentum later on. I hope O'Halloran and Devorski die in their sleep tonight.
