#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #2 St. Louis Blues
Wings_Toledo replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Hoping for a Phoenix vs. L.A. Conference Finals matchup. I probably won't get to watch many of the games as I imagine at least a few will be 10PM start times, but it would be a lot more fun to watch than St. Louis vs. Nashville. -
Matt Carkner will most likely hit free agency as well and would be a decent pickup for D. He would definitely address the toughness need and can actually play decent minutes in case Quincey can't turn his game around. Adding a cheap "tough guy" on D would allow Holland to go with speed on the bottom six and avoid signing a 4th-liner that would only play 4-5 minutes a game. Getting Parise has to be the top priority, though. The series with Nashville proved that this team doesn't have one guy outside of Zetterberg that can be relied on for goals.

#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

The refs need to stop calling penalties on all of these Pens dives. That last call on Hartnell was weak sauce. -
#8 Ottawa Senators vs. #1 New York Rangers

I'm rooting for Ottawa now that the Wings are out of the race. Good, solid effort by the Sens tonight. I haven't really watched many of their games this season, but man Karlsson has some wheels! -
The last suspension of similar length that I can remember is when Chris Simon two-handed another player in the face back when he played for the Islanders. I don't think this hit is on par with that kind of action, but definitely deserved a lengthy suspension due to Torres' history. 25 games though? Eh...

WCQF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Predators 2
Wings_Toledo replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
It's seriously embarrassing watching this team this year. They don't even look like they're in the same league as Nashville and the defense has been absolutely terrible. The offense is still doing the same things that haven't worked all series long. At this point I just have no idea what happened to the Wings... -
WCQF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Predators 2

This has been one of the most disappointing and boring series I've ever watched. It's too bad it could be Lidstrom's last, but I'm already looking toward next season... -
The Sharks are pathetic. ANY playoff game that they're losing, they goon it up in the last 2 minutes. Has that ever worked for them? Bunch of idiots that don't deserve to get anywhere near the Cup.
-
Beautiful play by Oshie to get the puck to Backes on that 2nd goal. Damn, that was nice.

WCQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 3, at Nashville Predators 2

I'm hoping Nyquist gets more ice time as the series goes on. He's had great jump and made some skilled plays. -
Columbus should be banished from the league after this season. So hilarious.
-
Would rather see the Blues win this series because I cannot stand the Sharks and I think St. Louis deserves to finally have some playoff success. Unfortunately, this series may come down to how the refs decide to call the games. We all know what kind of d-baggery the Sharks are capable of...

#6 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes
Wings_Toledo replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Phoenix in 5 or 6. Phoenix went 3-1 against Chicago in the regular season and have the offense and goaltending to beat them in the playoffs. We'll see, but for the first time ever I'm rooting for the 'Yotes. -
Anyone else think that if he stays healthy for the majority of his career that he could end up in the Top 10 goal scorers of all time? I know he only just completed his fourth season, but he's already close to 200 and is only 22.
-
Franzen seems basically worthless at this point. I know he's been out for a little bit and needs a few games to get back into shape but his lack of effort and terrible decision-making in the offensive zone are getting old...
-
Holmstrom and Nyquist are the hardest working players on the team right now.
-
Living in Southern Ohio, the only games that get blacked out for me are Bluejackets games. Needless to say, I wouldn't exactly say I'm missing anything.
-
Anyone else sick of seeing Stuart get all of his shots blocked and then getting beat on the way back? If he plays like this during the playoffs then I won't be too upset if he leaves during free agency...
-
How was that pass not offside?
-
I hope Babcock keeps Franzen on a short leash and switches him out with Nyquist if he shows signs of not competing. Granted, I'd love for The Mule to come out and blast away like in '08 but if he doesn't, he might need to be demoted for a kid who has earned a top six spot.

Allowing 4 goals against Carolina and 2 against Columbus is not good, but you have to remember that Conklin was in goal for both games. The two that he let in last night were shots that I feel MacDonald or Howard would have stopped. Overall, they're playing better defense and should be ready to go come playoff time.

I haven't heard anything either, but it doesn't look good for him. It's a shame because he's a guy who the Wings could really use for the playoffs.

Alex Radulov returning nhl playoffs?
Wings_Toledo replied to PredsFanTheBayouState's topic in General
Well, he was pretty much the most dominant player in the KHL last season and won a Gagarin Cup with Salavat, so maybe he just wants a shot at the Stanley Cup as well? I know he looks terrible going about it in this way, but his KHL club has been eliminated so instead of just taking the money and resting in the off-season he now wants to enter the playoffs with his NHL team. To me that says that he's a competitor and wants to win so I don't get all the hate. -
Well, that's why I said "hopefully." Sooner or later it will click for him that if he wants to avoid sitting out half of a season again he needs to stop with the flopping around and little cheap shots after the whistle. If he cuts down the unnecessary contact he'll last longer.
-
I hate to admit it, but yeah he's the best player in the league. It's just his on-ice attitude that makes him unlikeable by non-Pens fans. Hopefully after missing so much time from concussion issues he'll learn to tone down the temper tantrums and just go out and play. I doubt he wants to bring about the wrath of some goon that just wants to take his head off.
