The Wings had and still have much more talent than Vancouver and Samuelsson was never going to get the kind of ice time that he gets in Vancouver now. Plus, it may just be one of those things where a player gets a change of scenery and starts producing. Who knows? I'm glad to see him thriving there, even though I remember constantly screaming at him on TV when he was with the Wings.

Best day in the history of the NHL will be....T
Wings_Toledo replied to MississippiWing's topic in General
There were quite a few very questionable calls in this game for both teams. Then, like you said, he seemingly let everything go out of nowhere. It's not just McCreary though, the officiating in the NHL has been inconsistent ever since the lockout. -
Babcock probably won't split up the Cleary-Helm-Eaves line, at least right away, but I'd love to see Abdelkader on that line instead of Cleary. Not saying Cleary has played particularly poorly, but just think about the hitting potential with Helm and Abby, and then Eaves can provide some offense from that.

He's just getting ready for having to play in Nashville. -
Per NHL.com http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=524763 Now, I'm not trying to say he doesn't deserve recognition or that he's a bad player or anything, but is it really necessary to have a ceremony for a guy because he played 1000 games? Point or goal milestones I can understand, but this just seems a bit odd. Either way, congrats to Alfredsson on his lengthy career with the Sens.

Is anyone else pulling hard for the Blue Shirts?

There's something about the Rangers that I just never liked. The Flyers are such a joke. Their goaltending situation coupled with the makeup of their roster speaks volumes about the organization... In any case, I don't think that any of the bottom four teams in the East have a chance of making it past the first round. -
Penguins Ponikarovsky suspended for final two games
Wings_Toledo replied to commadore183's topic in General
These suspensions are pretty pointless. How many suspensions have been handed out this season and still this kind of stuff continues to happen? There HAS to be a better way to send a message to the players. -
I think the city of Detroit dislikes having him there more than he dislikes being there. I've hated this guy since the Dallas vs. Vancouver series a couple of years ago. Anyone remember that series? It was a pretty amazing battle between Turco and Luongo. What I remember most about that series, however, was Burrows throwing cheapshot after cheapshot and every time Ott would try to get in his face, Burrows would run to the bench and hide behind Jeff Cowan. Where's Probert when you need him?
-
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just wanted to say congratulations to Martin Brodeur on his 600th career win tonight. Say what you want about the guy, but to reach that milestone is simply amazing.

I actually like watching the Caps play now. If there isn't a Wings game on, I'll usually see if the Caps are playing. They're a really talented team that's fun to watch. That doesn't mean I necessarily like them or root for them, I just appreciate an entertaining team. And hey, at least they aren't Pittsburgh.
-
Honestly, I would rather see the Wings play any of the top three teams than Phoenix. Something about that team just makes me nervous. Although, with the way the Wings have been playing lately, if they carry this momentum into the playoffs I have confidence that they can beat any team they face in the opening round.

Why this hasn't been done already is beyond me. The marketing practically writes itself.
-
I really hope he reimbursed those players for breaking their sticks. Ripping the jacket off is what made me lose it though. Hilarious hahaha.

Clearly no one caught the fact that I was exaggerating. My point was that at least what Bertuzzi did was in defense of a teammate. Cheapshot? Yes. But up until that point in his career, was Bertuzzi known as a whiny, gutless little brat who threw temper tantrums when he didn't get his way? No. He was a power forward capable of being in the top 5 in scoring from year to year. After the incident he apologized and showed true remorse for what he did, something I seriously doubt Crosby would be capable of doing. So, if you didn't understand what I meant, there you go.
-
Bertuzzi could repeat that incident 5 more times in his career and he would still have more class than Crosby. At least he would be sticking up for his teammate, not throwing a hissy fit because a player who is superior to him stopped him from scoring yet again.
-
Just ignore Carman. He feeds off of attention and will do everything in his power to act like he's not continuing the Crosby vs. Ovechkin debate even when he's clearly doing so.
-
I know right? He would be so much more respectable if he dove all the time and cried when things don't go his way. Get out, Sidney.
-
I'd make him watch a 24-hour video montage of Ovechkin highlights.

2010 Winter Olympics - Russia vs Czech Republic (Group B)

I can just see how this is going to end: "Well both guys are great but you can't say one is better than the other." -
2010 Winter Olympics - Saturday Games (Norway/Switzerland, Latvia/Slov
Wings_Toledo replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Of course Switzerland gets a penalty shot and then actually scores 5 seconds after that... and we miss it. Apparently watching exciting hockey is second to a boring curling match. I'm sorry if anyone here actually likes watching curling, but why would anyone in the U.S. care about that sport when hockey is on?! -
Now you're just nit-picking for no reason. It's the Olympics. This is a once in a lifetime chance for a lot of these athletes, so if they actually win a medal they can celebrate any damn way they want. It's not just because they happen to be from the U.S.
-
Nobody complains about him because they're jealous of his talent or upset that he won the Cup last year against the Wings. Nobody likes him because he's a whiny little brat, a poor sport, and a poor choice for the "face" of the NHL. I actually wouldn't mind at all if the media focused all of its attention on Ovechkin, the same way they do with Crosby. At least with Ovie you can tell how much he loves the game, and doesn't throw little hissy fits. When he gets mad he just runs people the f*** over. I'm sick of hearing the "but he's the greatest player..." arguments because it doesn't matter how much talent you have when your attitude is just plain awful.
-
No, but I usually don't watch the opening ceremonies because it's just a big time filler. I just didn't understand THAT particular part of the performances because it was so out of place and ridiculous (yes, ridiculous even for what went on the rest of the time).
-
What is with this *** little interpretive dance thing with suspension wires? Nothing says, "the world's best athletes competing in often dangerous sports" like some fruitcake dancing around a stage saturated in special effects.
-
I can understand putting him in the top three because he is one of the best players on the team, but I wouldn't mind seeing Babcock take a chance with someone like, say, Lidstrom for the 3rd or 4th shooter. If for nothing else, at least to surprise the goaltender. On a sidenote: it's great having Williams back for the shootout alone.
