I really, really hope it's a shutdown 3rd pairing D-man to try to replace Lilja. Really, once everyone gets back from injuries that's the only piece missing that's worth trading for.
-
This puts my fantasy team in the s***ter too... What is with all the "superstar" players having injuries all at the same time?!
-
Honestly I think the Wings just need to find a 6th defenseman to replace Lilja (I really don't see him coming back anytime soon, if ever). And I'm talking about one who plays the same style as Lilja, not another Meech or Lebda. Do that and get a decent backup goaltender so Ozzie doesn't have to play so many games and those slight improvements may start to turn things around. Surely it's not that simple, but that's what makes the most sense to me.
-
I had to turn off the Rangers vs. Kings game before the beginning of the 2nd seeing as how the Kings' announcers were STILL bitching and trying to figure out the ruling that awarded the Rangers their second goal. And I thought the Columbus crew was bad...yikes...
-
I second that notion. I pretty much can't stand anyone from Cleveland, regardless of sports team affiliation, but that's just me.

Yeah that interview just took a turn for the worse about halfway through. Who cares what his former team is doing?
-
At least it sounds like he wants to stay in Detroit until he's no longer able to keep up at the NHL level. Gotta respect that.
-
I would say probably something more like in the 50-55 range for Ozzie, but I could be wrong.
-
This just sounds like one big game of "I want to be the leader!" Violating the constitution and leaving Kelly in the dark isn't the best way to make a good impression if you're trying to become the new director.

Griffins Select a Pair of Fan Submitted 3rd Jerseys
Wings_Toledo replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
After looking at all of the designs to choose from, I'd say the ones that they selected are the best. Some of them are laughably bad, and my personal favorite "bad" one is the logo in the top row, second from the right. That griffon just looks like it's posing for a beefcake calendar or something. *In sexy voice* "Oh hey. Just getting ready for the game. Wanna watch?" -
Of all the names on that list, I bet that half of them sign contract extensions with their respective teams before they become UFAs. Anaheim would be stupid to let Hiller walk. I would really like to see the Wings sign Frolov, though. That, or if a guy like Lucic is out there, pick him up.
-
That would be great if it were to happen, but I highly doubt the Wings would be able to sign Sundin for that amount, and even Grier, for that matter.
-
Who cares? You sign players because of how they play; not their skin color. Having black players for the sake of having black players is stupid.
-
Sounds more like a porn star name than a hockey player. Here's hoping his skills can make up for his weird name.
-
I would say Komisarek. The guy only made the All-Star game because of fan voting and isn't really that great of a shut-down D-man. He fights, but rarely lasts long against proven fighters. A 3 mil cap hit might make more sense. Then again, the team that signed him is also the one that gave Jeff Finger $4 mil+ a year....
-
Realistically, if Lidstrom, Homer, and either Draper and/or Maltby are gone then the Wings might be able to sign him in the offseason next year. Although, with Lidstrom gone, all the Kovalchuks in the world won't help the team's defense one bit.
-
Not that this has any bearing on what happens in real life, but in my "Be A Pro" mode in NHL '09, Pronger got traded to Philly and Heatley ended up with the Rangers. Very odd.

Wings Trade thier first round pick to Tampa
Wings_Toledo replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Yeah I wasn't surprised by this move, but a bit irritated as I've been watching the draft all night, waiting for Detroit's pick. -
The last three are just ridiculous. Legace's days are completely over in Detroit, Bertuzzi has nothing left to offer and Dandenault wouldn't be an upgrade over anyone the Wings currently have on the roster. I'm liking the idea of Laperriere more and more, though. I hope Holland at least gives him an offer.

I know I, for one, will not be watching the Finals next year if it involves the Penguins and not Detroit. I'm so sick of hearing about Pittsburgh year-in and year-out. It's really sad because I love hockey and don't really enjoy watching other sports, but the way this league is run is just ridiculous compared to other sports.
-
Watching the Pens win it hurts worse. As much as I hate most of the players on the Ducks, Getzlaf and Hiller deserve the Cup far more than Crosby and Fleury. And, of course, now the media is even more obsessed with Crosby (if that is even possible). I guess the one thing we can take comfort from is knowing that for fans outside of Pittsburgh, this cup will always feel tainted.
-
I agree with quite a few of the OP's points about specific players. I don't think trading Rafalski would be a good decision at all. We all saw the trouble the team had making transition passes with only one D-man who actually does so (Lidstrom) when Rafalski was out. I'm willing to give Brad Stuart another season to redeem himself. I got so sick of hearing "turnover by Stuart" in these Finals but some of them could have been prevented with better help from the forwards (and if that icing had been called). Holmstrom should be gone, as well as Maltby and Hossa (unless he signs for much less than this last season) and bring in Abdelkader and some FAs.
-
Not like Pittsburgh is a great place to live either. I don't understand why fans of a sports team have to attack the opponent's city when their team loses. Just focus on the game.

Any Chance Tavares Replaces Crosby as the New NHL Poster Boy?
Wings_Toledo replied to Probie's topic in General
If I'm watching the game on FSN Ohio then the answer is: every five seconds. -
Not surprised they won this one. Need a much better effort next game. If the Wings can split these two road games then we have an excellent shot.
