Imagine what AO would be like on the Wings, if he could fit into the system. No one would even be able to follow the Wings' passes. On a weird side note, when I was on Yahoo! earlier yesterday, they showed the boxscores for the games on the right side of the page, and before the game had even started they had the score to the Caps vs. Ducks game as 1222700 to 1. I know Washington has an excellent offense, but Anaheim isn't that bad defensively.

In no particular order: Milan Lucic Ilya Kovalchuk Dan Ellis Brad Boyes Vincent Lecavalier

That's no excuse for not playing your best player more. Even if he's not scoring, he can still potentially energize the team. And until I see statistical proof that he scores more when he gets less ice time, I can't really agree with you there. The reality is: Melrose needed more recent practice at coaching again before taking on an NHL team.
-
Tampa never should have hired him in the first place. Maybe now Lecavalier will get some ice time...

Well, the reason he's up on a line with Zetterberg is because Franzen is out until Tuesday. Babcock has tried various 2nd line combinations and not one of them has really stood out. It's easy to hate on Cleary when you're trying to force him to fill Franzen's role. Cleary works well on a checking line with Draper and generally makes smart defensive plays, though his offensive upside isn't quite there. I don't agree with him being selfish, however, as when he gains the zone, the first thing he does is look for the 3rd man to make a pass. Quite often, he makes the pass and sets up a pretty decent scoring chance. Just because he's not going to have 20 goals this year doesn't mean he's the worst player on the team.

Cool gallery. Personally, I liked Alex Auld's the best. It actually sort of looks like a Spartan helmet.

So far this year he looks like he has improved his game. I haven't noticed as many turnovers at the blue line, his defensive game has gotten better, and he hasn't looked god awful at the point on the PP. For 1.2 mil a year the Wings could have done much worse.

This accident does make her look bad, but honestly the security or whatever crew was responsible for the carpet did a poor job. At least Manny made it onto the carpet before taking a dive, unlike a certain goaltender I remember from last year's SCF.

The Atlanta Falc- Thrashers' third jerseys unveiled!

Did Bettman design this? Because it looks like a basketball jersey. -
I have a feeling that the second team is going to put the hurt on someone in one of these games.

Bertuzzi, Cammalleri Happy To Be Back In Canada
Wings_Toledo replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
No one has mentioned Cammalleri yet, even though he's in the thread title so I thought I'd just add that the thought of Cammalleri and Iginla possibly on the same line at some point is a bit scary. The rest of the team would have to improve for that situation to even matter, which I don't think they have or will anytime soon. -
I, too, found this part extremely hilarious. I think someone found Vancouver's diary.

Haha yeah, I'm always in the upper bowl towards the top. For all of the complaints I have against CBJ and Nationwide, I do still have a good time every time I'm there. Because, in the end, I'm there to watch some hockey and if I get to see that, I'm happy.

I only make it out to a couple games every year, but I notice the same trend every year. It's not so much the OSU merch as it is the conversations that I hear: "So why do they blow the whistle sometimes for no reason?" "That's called offsides, basically hockey is soccer on ice." or "We get these tickets from work. It's nice to bring the kids out even in the middle of football season." I love going to games when they play the Wings. Every CBJ fan goes, "Pfft, typical Red Wings fans..." whenever someone gets loud.
-
Columbus, definitely. 90% of their "fans" wear Ohio State merch to the games, which is understandable for the area but still obnoxious. Also, seeing games at Nationwide is annoying because once the intermission hits it's all about football and basketball scores and there's a really annoying animosity towards all Michigan teams, no matter what sport. I don't even need to mention their T.V. announcers... they're by far the worst in the business, imo. Vancouver ranks second because I just flat out hate that team and Jim Hughson's giant boner for them.

Good point. I was sad to see the Storm go because I had fun at those games. Even during the pre-season games there was usually a pretty packed house. I've also gone to a few Blue Jackets games and they don't seem to be hurting all that bad with attendance, but they have got to get rid of that stupid cannon.
-
Actually, having a team here in Cincinnati might actually work. At least for a while. People here want a winning team (in any sport) and, unless I'm mistaken, we set an ECHL attendance record during the Cyclones' cup run recently. The only problem is that not many people here care about hockey and it seems like a lot of fans here are bandwagon fans. Cleveland already lost their AHL team so I wouldn't move there. Ohio just kind of sucks for hockey.

I knew the Wings were going to win the minute I saw that Actually I said to myself, "Did he really just... wow... that is priceless." And then commenced laughing.

Malone wants players to "get their elbows and sticks up"
Wings_Toledo replied to tazzer82's topic in General
Looks like he should have taken his own advice. I think Kronner reads this board. -
I'd like to know how the Wings "aren't going to have an answer for Crosby, Malkin and Staal down the middle," yet still take the series to seven games. Doesn't make much sense to me. I think thre real difference will be if Franzen can somehow get back into the lineup for at least a few games.

Turco's just mad because he'll never be a playoff-caliber goalie capable of winning the Cup. Ozzie, on the other hand, has already proven himself. Hopefully after Saturday Turco will be doing his whining and s***-talking from the golf course.
-
Guys, I've figured out the problem.

The refs have been all over Homer the entire playoffs so I'm really not surprised about this complete joke of a call. There is no place for that kind of blatant favoritism in the NHL. Justice calls for these refs to sit out during the finals, but I know the league won't do anything about the call.
-
Hossa might be touted as a great 2-way player, but I've seen him make some horrendous turnovers during the playoffs this year. You can bet the Wings will jump all over the Pens if they turn the puck over in the neutral zone.

That's not something I would expect from Ribiero, but I guess that's what happens when you get outplayed to the point where it looks like the teams are from two different leagues. A suspension is necessary, especially since it came after Ott's little temper tantrum.
