Good thing the last game went to 4OT. Hopefully Dallas will be dragging themselves into Game 1. Should be a great series though.

Here in Cincinnati there aren't many hockey fans at all anyway. Although I have run into a few people wearing my Wings hat that go, "Red Wings? Uhh..." then they usually all explain that they're Sharks fans. Outside of that, no one here cares about hockey except for the Cyclones... And even then I'm not sure people noticed that they were gone...

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but what was the deal with Filppula? It seemed like he couldn't hold onto the puck to save his life. He could have had a couple good scoring chances if not for mishandling the puck. In any case, he still showed a great effort, as did the rest of the team.

It's never comforting seeing the Wings give up 3 goals in the 3rd. But hey, they got the win and that's all that matters.

I think I finally realized what a jerk he is last year during the YoungStars game. He was being asked what he thought of Getzlaf playing alongside other young talent and said something to the tune of, "I'm not answering that. I don't want to talk about MY players with those on another team." Really uncalled for, if you ask me. As far as being a GM, it seems like he's trying to manipulate the system to operate under the pre-cap idea of "buying" a team. Anaheim is a team mostly made of goons. And they take way too many penalties.

I'd like to join. I played in a Yahoo! Fantasy league last season and I was probably one of 3 or 4 owners who actually stayed active the whole way through.

So far I'm not the least bit impressed by any of the new logos or sweaters for the upcoming season. This one in particular looks like the artist came from the Toledo Storm School of Design. Aesthetics have gone out the window with Bettman in charge...

I like the new one better anyway. As a design, it has much better flow. For example, the diagonal lines connect with the "B" in a much smoother fashion. Now if only we could do something about the 'Canes logo and the Buffaslug...

Julien worked alright in New Jersey. But, that was with Lou breathing down his neck constantly. I'm not so sure he'll feel as much pressure in Boston, at least, from the organization.

He has every right to retire, if he so chooses, but it seems kind of a selfish thing to do considering his age and the needs of his team. It has been known for a while that Teemu might retire, but springing this on your GM less than a month before free agency begins is just kind of..... I don't know... Either way, it's amazing what he has accomplished at only 33.

Whew! Since I'm not able to watch the game I count on you guys to keep me up to date on what's going on. Glad to hear our #1 Duck killer is back!

Any word yet on Homer? I'm more concerned with his status than getting back at some talentless jackasses who will be playing golf in a week.

My favorite thread from their board was talking about how Holmstrom and Maltby are dirty players and that the entire Red Wings team has been a "dirty" team for years. So I guess sitting in front of the goalie and taking God-only-knows how many shots to the back and legs makes you a dirty player. Frustrated 13-year-olds are hilarious.

Unless we lost Homer, there really wouldn't be a point to adding Smyth. I would love to see Smyth in Detroit, don't get me wrong, but we really don't need him. On top of his position being filled already, if we simply gave up Bertuzzi we'd lose a couple draft picks and a prospect for essentially a rental player who wasn't really back up to his normal game during these playoffs. I say give Bert one more year to see if he can find his game again and if not, let him walk next off-season.

Is this thread for real? Just because you only notice the mistakes he makes doesn't mean he's playing horribly. In fact, throughout this series I've noticed more than a dozen plays he's made that either saved an odd man rush or a pass that would undoubtedly lead to an excellent scoring chance. Lidstrom is fine, quit being so negative.

Lids deserves yet another Norris, that's for sure. I think if there was an award for best Offensive Defenceman then Niedermayer might win, but Nick greatly outplayed him in terms of defensive ability. Plus Nick's + - rating is all the proof you need. I also think that Zetterberg not being nominated for the Selke is bogus, even if he did miss a big chunk of the season.

I'd just rather see us play Anaheim (if we make it that far) just so we don't have to sit through a whole series of boring, trap-style hockey. I think the Canucks may have even surpassed the Devils in terms of most boring team to watch.

I'm rooting for the Ducks in this one. I absolutely hate the Canucks. Undoubtedly they're basically where they are due to Luongo. The Sedin twins have some strange man love going on for each other and Burrows is a cheap shot artist who hides behind Cowan and other bigger guys when confronted (see the Brendan Morrow incident). Also, Scott Niedermeyer is one of my favorite players and I think it's about time Teemu won a Cup.

This article pretty much points out why I didn't want Bertuzzi at the trade deadline. That being said, you can't blame him for the Wings' losses. Bertuzzi has been instrumental in creating some major momentum shifts in this playoff run (i.e. the Phaneuf takedown) as well as put up some decent points for having not played for months. I don't think benching our biggest guy against this fatass Sharks team will help our chances at all.

Ehh Shanny's just getting old and doesn't want to play more periods than he has to.

I definately can't stand him because of his cockiness, but he has done a good job coaching the Sharks in the regular season. That being said, until he wins a Cup with San Jose he'll be mediocre at best. Plus, he needs to shave. He looks like an alcoholic.

Who ever said Datsyuk doesn't show up in the playoffs?! DATS!!!!

I was just thinking about this over the past couple of days, and I haven't had time to look it up but... Didn't Hasek only start in maybe 2 of the 4 regular season games we played them this season? I seem to remember Ozzie and Joey Mac playing against them, and even then those were close games. Edit: Well, at least one of the games was close.
