Lidstrom being my favorite Wing, I have to say that I don't think he really got beat that badly. What I want to comment on is the officiating. McCreary missed about 5 or 6 blatant penalties by the Flames and called just about every single thing we did. Not saying that some of our penalties weren't deserved, but come on. Honestly, I hope we get Devorski and the rest of the team from Game 2 again.

Hockey players are not warriors or courageous? Okay, Ms. Yorio, does your job require you to block a 100 MPH slap shot from Zdeno Chara, or finish your column 5 minutes after receiving a broken nose? I didn't think so. Please die or get a new profession where you aren't paid for your opinion. Whichever comes first.

Odd timing for me since I graduate in May and will be moving back to Cincinnati after that. I know they were talking about a new stadium for an AHL team or something but the TSA was a great place to get drunk and watch some hockey.

I thought the behind the net view on the PP was interesting... For about 30 seconds. Then it just got kind of annoying when I was trying to see what the hell was going on around the net. But I'd much rather watch the NBC feed than CBC during the playoffs. I can't stand listening to the Canadian homerism that goes on through their entire broadcast. Plus, the guy who does play by play and is normally paired with Harry Neale makes me want to put a bullet in my head.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but Mick McGeough is officiating our game tonight. Here we go...

I was really disappointed to find out that Vancouver won that game when I checked the score this morning. Dallas pretty much controlled the game from halfway through the 3rd all the way until the end. I realize that Dallas is a different team right now, but if Vancouver had that much trouble with a team that we basically owned all year then things don't seem quite as bad if we get into the 2nd round. If the Canucks want to sit back and play the trap all game then let them. I think the Stars may come out of this one better than predicted.

Well, only 3 out of the 16 teams in the playoffs are Canadian so there's a, roughly, 19% chance that a Canadian team will win the Cup. If the refs keep officiating the way they have been today: 57%. I'll say that most of the calls have been warranted. I think you have to remember that it's the playoffs and the players' self-discipline is way down, especially on a young, nervous team like the Baby Pens. I think the calls will get better as the series goes on. Unless, of course, McGeough officiates your game.
-
Baby Pens need to calm down and start testing Emery. It doesn't seem like they're really skating that hard and the giveaways need to stop. Either way, way too many penalties in this game. Let's hope the rest of the playoffs aren't like this.

WEST: Detroit vs. Calgary (4-3) Anaheim vs. Minnesota (4-2) Vancouver vs. Dallas (4-1) Nashville vs. San Jose (2-4) EAST: Buffalo vs. New York Islanders (4-2) New Jersey vs. Tampa Bay (4-2) Atlanta vs. New York Rangers (2-4) Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh (3-4)

He won't win any speed skating competitions but he plays a smart game for a young defenceman. What I noticed most about his game is that he makes very good decisions on when to pinch and when to jump into the play. To me, he's the closest thing to a replacement for Kronwall that we have, even though his game is different.

Lilja wins the Conn Smythe For the other team.

Gasp! You dare predict the Wings to lose against Calgary!? Just kidding. But I think our series will last longer than everyone predicts. Unless I'm mistaken, we split the season series with the home team always coming out victorious. Since we have home ice advantage I can only predict that we'll win in 7. But those back to back games have been an issue for us all season so we'll see. Also depends on which lasts longer, Iginla's knee, or Zetterberg's back.

Luckily, CBC is picking up the Detroit vs. Calgary series for their 7 PM games and will broadcast every game. So, for those who don't live in Michigan or Toledo and can't get FSN Detroit, you can still get the games on CBC if you're close enough to Canada.
-
You can always find tickets somewhere. It just depends on how much you're willing to pay. If you want tickets that far into the playoffs you'll probably have to find a scalper or check stubhub.com and pay a LOT of money.

Nevermind the calculations on why or why not Lang sucked this year, the simple fact is that it's time to give the younger guys a chance. Obviously if Babcock wanted Lang playing more minutes than he does then he would play him. There are plenty of other players out there who make the same salary as Lang and perform much better given their circumstances. We don't need him for the playoffs. If we can't score goals without Robert Lang then we're in more trouble than we thought.

This move just baffles me... Devils, say hello to our good friend: first round exit.

Dear Nashville fans, Please grow up. Sincerely, Wings_Toledo

In Cincinnati we had the Cyclones for quite a few years and then attendance dropped and the team elected to sit out for a few seasons. Now they're back and affiliated with Montreal. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that even if the Storm fold, there's a chance they could return a few years down the road.

Since this is the only current thread really talking about the Islanders I just had a "what if" scenario: DiPietro is still out due to headaches relating from concussion issues (I believe). I know Keith Primeau had to retire due to concussion symptoms that never went away so I was wondering, what would happen with that 15 year contract if DiPietro had to retire in a few years due to recurring symptoms from his head injury? Not likely it would happen, but it makes you wonder.

Hey there. Glad to see some other Toledo citizens here. I haven't been able to make it out to many games this year but I try catch them when they're on BCSN. Edit: I didn't know about the team's current state either. Back in Cincinnati (my hometown) hockey is about as popular as badminton, even though we have the Cyclones. Toledo needs to keep its hockey atmosphere alive.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=29417...mp;service=page Thought this article was interesting. Not that I have anything against Fedoruk, but come on. Just because you've had your face smashed in more than a few times doesn't mean the league should go all UFC on the known fighters. Part of being a "tough guy" is being able to handle a punch to the face. I do like how he sticks up for keeping fighting in the game.

Red Home Jersey - Lidstrom Doesn't have the "C" on it but that doesn't really matter to me. I got this puppy for Christmas this last year and it's by far one of the best presents I've ever received.

Any number of first round matchups are possible. We could even end up playing the Canucks in the first round. You never know. I honestly think our best shot would be against Dallas but once we get Zetts back I know we could get past Calgary, even if it takes 7 games. But, that's assuming we win the division and 1st overall, which probably won't be decided until the last couple of games of the season.

The replay of that goal made it look pretty bad on Lang's part. However, I would have liked to see him or Hudler take Samuelsson's shot in the shootout.

Who has been your biggest disappointment
Wings_Toledo replied to Never_Retire_Steve's topic in General
As far as this team goes I'd have to say either Kronwall. But to be fair, I had pretty high expectations of him to begin with, so we'll see how he does in the coming years. If we're speaking about Fantasy hockey teams, Patrick Marleau really hasn't been much help over the past month or so.
