That was good, but nobody has phatter beatz than Rap Cat.

Actually, IMO, that character looks more like Steve Yzerman.

If we're going for Islanders I'd take Arron Asham if they'd be willing to part with him. He's a UFA next season as far as I am aware (correct me if I'm wrong) and currently only makes $950,000. He wouldn't hit our cap for much so we could still afford that top six winger.

Not really. The Staal, Malkin and Christensen line contributes just as much as the Crosby, Recchi, Malone line and in the past 4 or 5 games all of the lines have been scoring. I think they have a fairly good offensive touch on all four lines so that if Crosby doesn't put up big numbers in a game then everyone else seems to step up. Sorry Crymson, looks like toby beat me to it.

I know this doesn't really belong in this thread but I didn't feel like starting a new one just for this comment: Wild vs. Nashville, and Boogaard is scratched?! You'd think their top fighter would play against a team like Nashville. Plus he might get a chance to take out Forsberg in his first game back in the West. I guess the Wild needed someone with offensive upside in the lineup tonight but this decision just baffles me. Oh and with that, 100 posts!

Nashville's record doesn't reflect it's team lately
Wings_Toledo replied to Earthhuman's topic in General
Yeah I think we'll win the season series. I mean, sure, they have Forsberg now but even with a Kariya - Forsberg - Sullivan line, they won't have the same chemistry as the Z, Dats, and Homer line. Also it's going to come down to whether or not Vokoun plays consistently and the young blue line of Nashville. They might have the edge on paper, but I don't think they've improved that drastically with their trades this month. -
Agreed. Let's hope they face Calgary in the playoffs. And I'm glad he didn't come here. Holland is not an idiot. Overpaying for yet another center is not something we need to do right now. And who's to say that we only have Bertuzzi and Guerin to chose from? I sense something very odd in the works.

I went after all the forward talent on my fantasy team and selected Huet as my main goaltender. He was pretty solid throughout the year but my team's starting to suffer from Montreal's losing streak. Now this happens. Needless to say, helping out his team is more important than any fantasy team, but now I just hope he isn't out for long.

Depending on whether or not the Islanders make the playoffs, I could see Mike Sillinger going to a contending team as a rental. That trade would add to his already insane list of teams he's played for.

Anyone watching this game on either Yahoo! or TSN? Battaglia had a pretty nice backhanded goal from right in front of DiPietro, and DiPietro made a few amazing saves in the 3rd. Surprisingly entertaining so far.
-
All I know is that Nashville's Star Trek fan demographic will be very disappointed at the withdrawal of the 3rd jerseys next season.

I can't help but comment on all posts relating to the one player I really wish we'd get. If he does get traded I'm pretty sure it won't be to Detroit. I just hope we can maybe get him over the summer if he doesn't sign elsewhere.

Wow, I didn't realize what was going on with the Preds organization. League contraction needs to happen with the next 5 years. The NHL is essentially a business, but it's in the entertainment business. Don't screw over the fans and the city if you want to keep sleeping on piles of money.

Newbury of the Leafs taken out on a stretcher
Wings_Toledo replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Whoops, you're right. That's what I get for making a post well after I watched the game. -
I kind of have a hard time believing that Williams will be a part of any package that goes for a "good" player. I don't know which team in this league would even want a guy like him. So maybe if we get a 4th liner and a pick or two he might go in that kind of deal. I just think that as much as we want to get rid of him, it's going to be hard to find a buyer.
-
They have a surplus of D-men and I guess they figured Vishnevski was the best offer since he wasn't always in the lineup. We'll see if that was a bad move come playoff time.

Newbury of the Leafs taken out on a stretcher
Wings_Toledo replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Nobody likes to see a player get carried out on a stretcher like that, but damn that was a great KO by Petrovicky. I thought it would really fire up the Pens but then the Leafs went out and scored that 5th goal shortly afterward. Great job by Staal getting the hat trick in OT. Great game to watch. -
This is also assuming that we'd actually be able to get those players before other clubs do. I have a feeling we won't be able to get Drury, and i'm hoping we don't go after Bertuzzi. I just want to wait and see how the playoffs go before making any UFA hopes and dreams.

Even though he's getting up there in age as well, Hamrlik might be a good pickup if we lose Schneider. The cap may be a blessing in disguise if it forces Holland to look at many other options for the next few years. Of course, he probably won't go out and get the players we all want, but I feel he'll do do the right thing, for the most part.

I think Kronwall's bad play recently could be related to him having to wear the cage, which is certainly not a great excuse, but probably does affect his passing. That's why I think maybe he's been carrying the puck too much, in order to avoid getting picked off by someone he can't see in his peripheral. In any case, Kronwall should probably be considered a more defensive style D-man and why Babcock still has him on the PP I can't figure out. I'm willing to give him a few more years to really develop, as development is on an individual basis and you can't say just because Lebda improved his game that Kronwall should do it in the same amount of time. And if things don't pan out, I'm sure some team would want him in a trade down the road.

I was really hoping this streak would continue over into next season. Tonight's game made me more mad than I've been at a hockey game since the first round of the playoffs last season, and not because the streak ended, but because we couldn't score a single goal against........the St. Louis Blues? Granted this was a back-to-back game, but come on guys. So frustrating to watch.

Please Holland, for the love of God, do NOT acquire Bertuzzi. There are a number of much smarter "gritty" wingers that will be available. I feel really uneasy about the stigma that's attached to Bert and the kinds of penalties that he takes. It may sound like a good deal, but I'm willing to bet that in the long run we'll regret giving up that prospect after Bertuzzi goes down yet again or does something as stupid as the Moore incident (I'm not putting it past him to repeat past mistakes).

So I was playing NHL 07 today and somehow Jason Allison is leading the league in points in one of my dynasty games. Then I got to thinking, "wait, I haven't seen him on the Leafs this year." So what happened to him? Did he retire due to his injury problems or just trying to get healthy again? Not that I'd want us to acquire him in any sense, but just curious because I never heard any updates on him.
-
Thanks everyone for clearing that up for me.

In the future, please link to where you got this information. Not a big deal, but it helps to confirm the details. Anyway, I'm sure most on this board will say that Samsonov is a small, soft Euro, and they're right. We're looking to get a gritty winger who can score and Samsonov is definately not that. Think of him as a less productive Datsyuk. Plus I'm not sure how much it would cost us to get him at this point in the season, but his almost 4 million a year contract is way too much for us at this point.
