Sounds like if the people he was with had kept their cool, he would've been fine.
-
So far, the team has more misconducts than goals.
-
Now I pretty much completely agree with you.
-
You really can't see how your earlier posts in here might've come across like you were hating on Val? Like I said, I don't totally disagree with what you're saying now, but it seemed like you were just trying to rile the Filppula fans up earlier.

No, there aren't. Well I guess when a penalty shot would have been awarded with the goalie pulled is a gimme goal, actually. Sure some goals are lucky, but for every goal, at some point somebody did something well. Filppula got open and put it home on his first one. The 2nd one he was driving the net hard, and the puck went in. Sure it was lucky, but it wasn't a gimme.

Phenomenal news. 4 more years (at least) of the death stare!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFTdam8Lf3c Nothing about Pavs-Perry. It was all military and Pat Burns.

I love the responses these posts of yours elicit.

I was going to say that his speed actually was world class, but I figured it might seem like I was being a little too sycophantic if I did

9 out 22. I'm just lulling you all into a false sense of security. Which I guess doesn't really work if I tell you that's what I'm doing.
-
I'm glad someone else sees it that way. FinRedWing and I have come to the same conclusion. I really want to see them race.

No, this time started with Getzlaf kind of pestering Hossa, Hossa gave him a shot and Getz went after him. Perry then jumped Rafalski and pumped him pretty good.

If any of the "more than a few" games you watched were playoff games, I'm seriously surprised that he didn't stand out to you. He really steps his game up come April. Val could certainly have an amazing season. I think people underestimate his hands, his shot, and his speed. It's not necessarily that people think he's lacking, I just don't think most people give him enough credit. He's not world-class in any of those areas, but he's definitely got all those tools. Especially his speed, I think that's probably his most-overlooked trait. The dude can fly. He's always been criticized for not shooting enough, but it looks like he might be getting over that. On top of all this, he's very good defensively (not that that will do you any good in fantasy). If he and Franzen continue to develop chemistry, we'll have an (even more) incredible 2nd line. The way I see Val is a sort of jack of all trades (in a good way). He's pretty well above average in just about everything, but not quite good enough at any one thing to inspire fear in opponents or earn serious recognition for anything. I see him having a career year for sure. I expect (as in I'll be somewhat disappointed if he plays a full season and doesn't get there) 60 points, and I can see him reaching 70, but I don't expect that from him. Disclaimer: I am one of the biggest Filppula fans around, and I'm completely willing to admit my assessment of him may be clouded by man-crush on him

He's not particularly good at it though.
-
He wasn't really cherrypicking. He saw that they had control of the puck and he took off. Hell of a pass, too.
-
I think that's a huge part of why he did so well. Most people underestimate the balance it takes to stay on your skates with somebody tugging on your jersey and trying to spin you around. And we know that Pavs has incredible balance. Think of how short fights usually are with guys who don't do it very often.

7 fighting majors (including playoffs). He hasn't really lost any of them either.
-
I watched most of the game, but I was listening to the Hawks radio broadcast when Bickell hit Pavs, and even they were saying it looked like it should be reviewed.
-
You can never look good saying that.
-
I saw this on TSN earlier today, that line literally made me lol.

Games like this are why I love hockey.

at the Ducks' parade to the box

Stuart definitely could have done worse there. I'm just glad to see guys stickin up for themselves tonight. And good on Howard for giving it to Perry a little bit.

Good for Bert stickin' up for Cleary.
