I'd be willing to bet he did. And even if he didn't, so what? People complain about fights after clean hits (and I agree in some cases), but if a guy wants to fight his own battle after a hit, more power to him. And if he's not on the Wings and takes an extra 4 because of it, I'm even happier.

The rule is pretty vague. I think it was a legal hit, but I guess it depends what you consider to be "the area of his knees."

I think the rule is stupid in the 1st place. But more importantly, I don't think that was a throat-slash gesture. That looked more like a gesture you might make to a friend you want to shut up about something.

I'm disappointed iFlip's not in. I'm glad E and Smith are playing again, they both need as much time as they can get right now. I was sorely underwhelmed with both of their performances last night. And Owens definitely earned some more PT, I think. Here's hoping he'll really wreak some hardcore havoc tonight.

I just have to back up the few people who have also said it: Smith looked like garbage last night. He made some good offensive plays, but for good chunks of time it looked to me like he didn't know what a defenseman is supposed to do. OK, he didn't look like garbage, he just didn't look anywhere near as good as I expect someone of his caliber, and someone that I suppose has an outside shot at a roster spot, to play.

That's definitely what it was. It was weird reading through the GDT having everyone see what I saw at the game The ref's explanation was that he was in the crease, nothing about interference. Maybe it was just poor word choice on his part, I dunno.
