No, the Briere call was one of the worst calls of the playoffs, and the Hatcher on Malkin call wasn't borderline, it was horrific. Crosby drew a fairly weak holding call early in the game, too, one they let go most of the time these playoffs. But the Pens had at least 1 weak call against them. I forget who it was that tripped Kukkonen in front of the net, but that was a bad call too. The officiating has been getting progressively worse throughout the playoffs I think, and it's beyond frustrating, no matter who you're a fan of. I'm not saying that the Crosby theory is right or has any validity, but sometimes it does seem like players are called by a tougher standard when the infractions involve Crosby.

Is it any fighting or just fighting after the buzzer that gets them suspended? It just sucks for Salmela because you could tell he didn't want to go at all. He and Backes were both throwing gloved punches for a while until Backes dropped his gloves. Salmela even kept his on for a while before he realized he had to fight back. I would have loved to see Selanne get at somebody though, just to see what he would have done. He was FURIOUS.

I don't get why Salmela is out for today's game. I only saw the 2nd half of the game, so I just watched Jokinen's hit on Gleason just now, too. It's ridiculous that he has to sit for that.

I love how that was a dive by Kukkonen on a "nudge" by Dupuis, but it was a blatant illegal hold that should be called every time on the penalty Crosby drew earlier.

Right. They made the right call. Like it's been said, it probably was a goal, and there were angles where it looked like a goal, but nothing was conclusive enough to overturn the on-ice ruling.

I think that's the right call, as tough as it is to make.

That last angle makes it look like it was probably in, but you can't see because Biron's glove is covering it. They can't call this a goal.

I really don't get why they don't call Hossa for holding the stick there. When you pin someone's stick between your arm and body, you're holding their stick. And wow, that's close. That'll be tough to overrule and call a goal.

There was actually an announcement a while back about doing that in GDTs. Not sure what ever happened to it though.
