Just to clarify, the match penalty does not mean an automatic 1 game suspension. It just means he can't play until it's reviewed, and I'm sure it will be before game 3. That said, it doesn't matter that Ozzie's OK. Swinging your stick like that shows a wanton disregard for the safety of the other player, and NEEDS to be punished. 1 or 2 games will suffice I think, but swinging your stick like that is never OK. Period. You just can't do stupid s*** like that.

I'm sure Ozzie's fine and was selling that, or maybe it stung him, I dunno. But more importantly, that slash MUST be viewed as a deliberate attempt to injure, which is an automatic match penalty, which means automatic league review and he can't play again until they do review it. And there's a difference between hating a team and knowing what's good for your ratings.

One thing they take into account when they review infractions I think is intended malice. Osgood didn't really have any I don't think, goalies do that a lot when players skate by. Ribeiro's slash, on the other hand, was chock full of malicious intent. You don't BC 2-hand a guy in the chest unless you're trying to hurt him.

Oh. My. God. I am ******* furious at Versus right now. OZZIE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY THAN ANY OTHER GOALIE IN THE LEAGUE. He didn't slash him, he didn't spear him, , he stuck his stick out, and Ribeiro skated right through it. These guys are ******* hacks.

That wasn't as bad as what they said at 1st, before they even knew what happened. Originally they said, "Maybe Osgood provoked him, we'll see" or something along those lines as if that somehow makes it ******* OK. And now on Postgame they're making it sound like it was a vicious butt-end to Ribeiro's face, when it was actually just Ribeiro skating through the shaft of Ozzie's stick.

After the final horn, Ribeiro was behind the net and gave Ozzie a nice little 2-hander to the chest/shoulder area.

Ozzie's OK I'm sure. I think he's trying to sell that. Ribeiro better get at least one game. And the announcers implying Ozzie deserved it. Classy.
