I'm watching The Bourne Identity for the 1st time ever.
-
Class and respect don't mean anything when you don't offer to shake the hand of the guy who completely got to you during the series. Granted, Avery didn't need to call him fatso, but Brodeur sure did look like a giant douchebag. Anyway, Henrik for Vezina (even though he won't win)!
-
Avery's words were, "everyone talks about how classless I am, but I guess Fatso there just forgot to shake my hand."
-
No way does King Henrik win it. He finishes 3rd in voting.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this incident. It never gets old, and it never will. I think I want this played at my funeral.
-
I really think this is more on the players. Hockey players are freakin' tough, and want to play through just about anything including a concussion. I don't think it's a problem, either. If that's a risk you want to take, far be it from anyone else to say you can't.

Woooooo! Back from "vacation" Now time for an econ exam.
-
Both TSN and CBC analysts were crucifying Avery for screening Brodeur the way he did. If you didn't see it, check out this clip and see how you feel about it. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with what he was doing. If you want to take yourself out of a play like that to distract the goalie, then go for it. It wasn't dirty, and I really don't see anything unsportsmanlike about it. The only difference between this and a normal screen is the way that Avery was facing.
-
That's weak. Sure, it's nothing to be proud of, but it's not even close to a big deal.
-
Wanna have a race?
-
I doubt I'll be sleeping tonight.
-
So players whose primary purpose it is to fight shouldn't play hockey either then? Avery was involved in the play, just not exactly in the traditional sense.
-
Nothing's funny when it happens to your own team I'd be crying for whoever was out there to take whoever did it's head off, but I certainly wouldn't think it deserved a penalty, even in that case.
-
Haha, I know it's opinion, I'm just hoping someone who feels the same way as you can verbalize it, just so I know specifically why people don't like it. "It's a farce" is a start, but WHY is it a farce, or WHY is it unsportsmanlike?
-
Slippery slope arguments don't work. I realize it's your opinion that it's not good, I'm just trying to figure out why. There's almost always a reason behind people's opinions.
-
1st of all, there are uniform restrictions in place. 2nd of all, I want to know WHY you think it's a farce? Is it the simple fact that he wasn't facing the puck? I just want to know.
-
14-2 Wings Datsyuk with 11 assists. I gotta stick with my 14-2 predictions.
-
Why though? Is it just because you don't like it? Do you feel that it's just stupid and cheap? I figured more people wouldn't like what he did, so I'm curious to know why.

To compare this to racist epithets seems a little extreme...
-
I think Gomez was actually telling Avery where to stand, I highly doubt he was telling him to stop.
-
I'm so happy to see CuJo play well like that and get recognized as one of the 3 stars.
-
C'mon Sharkies, I want OT!
-
It doesn't say "vital to performing everyday tasks," it says, "substantial." And it was never his arms that were in the crease, it was his hands at the very most.
-
Interesting take, but the thing is, it says "substantial portion," and I'm not sure that his hands can be considered that. Aside from that, watching the replay again, I'm not even sure his hands were really in the crease very much.
-
Technically yes, although very rarely enforced. McLean read the unsportsmanlike conduct rule about trying to incite a penalty. And this isn't about man-love for Avery. It's sticking up for him being beaten up by the Canadian media for some reason. He didn't do anything illegal. I don't think what he did is terribly practical in most situations, but I do think it was a really good head game there.
