Awww Babs broke up ZDH again. I guess it was just because of the powerplay they were together that last shift.
-
Oooh, the big boys are back together. A result of the powerplay messing up lines or a purposeful, permanent change?
-
Lappy with a high hit on Quincey too there. He's a cruisin' for a bruisin' as they say.
-
Just have to point out that I like that, very nice.
-
I think most people are with you. It was a good, clean, hard hit, but because of what happened, most people want blood.
-
Let the speculation begin on Nick. I'm gonna stay positive and say he misses 1 more game at the absolute most.
-
FINALLY Flip. It's about damn time. Nice shot, too.
-
Downey with the instigator and a game. What a crock of s*** the NHL is.
-
Good scrap, but what the hell was Lappy bitching about afterwards?
-
That was more than the wind out of em. He got his bell rung pretty good, he was woozy. That said, it's Nick ******* Lidstrom we're talking about here, he doesn't miss games. And does anyone remember what happened that one time Stevens rang Kariya's bell? It's not alway a big deal. That's not to say I wasn't beside myself with fear and anger when it happened.

It's a good thing we Wings fans have the ability to forgive, or else you'd be in trouble. But so help me God, if you ever jinx another game like that, I will have no choice but to find you and "convince" you not to do it again.

If there is a polar opposite of awesome, that commercial is it. I got HARDCORE ****** chills watching that.
-
Incredible. A couple people I know are headed there for tonight's show. Maybe another former Red Wing of equal importance or sentimental value will be there, but I doubt it
-
Why? There's nothing wrong with a good fight in practice every once in a while.
-
Goddamn is it nice to steal a game like that. Great pass by Hank on that goal, too.
-
I hope your dog starts barking again as soon as overtime starts
-
f***in' A! Bout time the guys get a good break tonight.

His +46 alone should at least get him consideration. He's 1st in defensemen points, and 4th overall in assists. He plays the 2nd most out of any player in the NHL, and he just makes other teams look ridiculous with the ease with which he plays his position. Plus, the fact that Pronger has one and Lidstrom doesn't just shows the ridiculousness of the system.

I'd be willing to bet it will be more crazy stuff, involving picking pucks up and using their skates more and stuff. Even though I'd like to see crazy legitimate dekes, I imagine we'll see more Robbie Schremp type stuff.
-
Yeah, you could tell Downie was acting because apparently he's terrible at it. I'm glad Downie finally got a taste of his own medicine, and I'm really curious to see what supplemental discipline he gets. The hit happened with like 3 seconds left in the 2nd, and Downie was back on the bench for the 3rd. He did get tossed in the 3rd for not having his tie-down though.

I have no problem with a graduated suspension type of thing like that. Kovalchuk is a first offense, so I think one is fine for him. Had this been someone recognized as dirty, I'd think 20+ would be completely appropriate. What's weird is that you have nothing to compare these suspensions to in other sports. I've wondered if it's because of the weapon they play with or because there's a very hard and unforgiving barrier that they play within.
-
I agree that they should always be called too. I just don't always think they deserve massive suspensions.
-
That's exactly what I'm worried about. I don't want the judges scoring the Mike Legg/Robbie Schremp type stuff higher than a sweet, slightly more legitimate/legal move just because "it looks cooler" or something. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the whole thing, especially fastest skater. There were no records to compare it to the 1st skills competition either

When you say it that way, I have absolutely no problem agreeing with you. We did not hand them their asses, but at the same time it was no fluke that we beat them, which is the feeling I got from you in your original post. Agreed again, but I missed the first 15 mins of the game last night, so I don't know if Cleary fought him because he was messing with him or if it was because he was messing with other players. If Cleary wanted to fight Pronger for a bad hit just on him.... whatever. But if he felt like he had to fight to stand up for his team, then you're absolutely right. Well, as it turns out, being reasonable is a relative thing. When "homer bulls***" as you call it runs rampant, then completely objective perspectives seem antagonistic, but at the same time it's a good thing to have.
