Oh, I definitely read it. I obviously just chose to be ignorant and/or forget what I read And I coulda sworn I checked hockeyfights to see if he had a fight card there... Weird.

Well, we all believe that every next year will be the year of the Red Wings. That said, next year definitely does look sweet

I would first like to subrespond to your question with a question. Where the hell are you coming up with all these? Well, the dictionary defines maniac as as a synonym of madman, which is also a crazy person I guess. But it also says that a maniac is "a person characterized by an inordinate or ungovernable enthusiasm for something" So...yeah. Because Trix are for kids, and a rabbit is not a kid. Therefore Trix is not for him. He is trying to take something that is not his. This is stealing. Stealing is bad. Someone who does bad things is a bad person. The kids do not like bad people. The kids are mean to people they do not like. Hence, they are mean to the rabbit. Can he? Technically yes. Should he? Abso-freakin-lutely not.

The NBC clip is horribly biased too. They immediately jump to the conclusion that he was trying to end Niedermayer's career or something and want to crucify him. Obviously I'm exaggerating, but they were anything but objective about it. The only way I'd say there was definitely intent to hit/hurt Niedermayer is if he had been facing the Ottawa end or the side boards or something. It was in the general direction of the net, and a common place for people to dump the puck. I was wondering about this the other day. Do you know when he got it? And if he has any other majors in his career? None of his career season PIM totals end in an odd number, so he must have had another major that season.
-
And slew footing is a sort of kick too, why isn't that a match penalty? There's gotta be a little bit of intent with that one I think

I've never been, but I was thinking about it this year. Sounds pretty cool.

I could not disagree more strongly with this sentiment. If I were on the team, then I'd be all for that, because winning is the be-all end-all in that situation. But as a fan, I look up to these players, and they represent the city of Detroit, and me as a fan of the team. I absolutely love the Red Wings, but it's not just because of their success. It's because they win (and lose) with class, and represent the game of hockey well.

Except that dirty, nasty, Holmstrom, taking run after run at Kipper, trying to end his career

Although it would be nice to get rid of the kicking rule, I can understand the protection angle of it. I was playing in a game once where my goalie's glove came off, and he got his hand stepped on. It almost cut his ring and pinky fingers off. So there's no doubt that skate blades can cause a lot of damage. What about changing the rule to allow it only as a a secondary attempt, like if their stick is tied up. Or possibly make the rule say that their skate can't come off the ice when they do it or something. And as for the Malarchuk thingy, it's far and away the most gruesome injury in sports, with the Allan Ray eye poke a close second. The Theismann leg break has absolutely nothing on that. I forget where I read it, but I saw that if the ambulance doors had been at the other end of the ice, he would have died. Now I question the validity of this statement.

Stupid? For sure. Cowardly? Absolutely. Cheap? I'm not so sure on that one. People are blowing this so far out of proportion it's unbelievable. This is HOCKEY, and he shot a puck at him. He didn't slash him in the face, he didn't kick him, he didn't do anything heinous that could actually hurt somebody. HE SHOT A ******* PUCK AT HIS LEGS. It really wasn't a big deal, and people need to let it go. I will say, the diving on both sides is getting beyond ridiculous though.

The Alfie hit on Tallinder wasn't really that bad, stuff like that happens all the time. It's not like he absolutely annilhated him face first directly from behind; it wasn't that hard of a hit. It was definitely worth 2 minutes though. The hit on Drury was vicious, but it was perfectly clean. As for Alfie's latest antics, I fell asleep right when I got home yesterday at about 5:30, and woke up like 15 minutes after the game ended so I didn't see it. The way people are describing it, it doesn't sound that bad what he did. Was Niedermayer laying on the ice and he rifled a shot at his face? It's hockey for pete's sake, people get hit with pucks. If Niedermayer had been behind Alfie and he turned around and fired it back towards his own end or something then I could see a little more merit in bitching about it. It definitely sounds very passive agressive and wussy-like, but dirty?

I didn't see it, but the way you described it doesn't sound that bad. Shooting the puck at someone? That was it?
-
Is that a real question? Obviously they are

I'd challenge you for that title. People go blind when I take my shirt off if the sun's out. And I tried that fake tanning stuff once because I got a hardcore sunglasses burn/tan on my face, I tried it on my arm at 1st to see if it worked. I waited an hour and it worked fine, then when I woke up the next morning the part of my arm I put it on was like, bright orange. Thank God I tested it out 1st.

Haha that description made me kind of uncomfortable. But I feel where you're coming from; women with Australian accents drive me CRAZY.
-
I worked a grand total of 3 hours last week. Do you know how embarassing it is to take a check that small to the bank?
-
Maybe not compliments, but definitely comments on the northern/midwestern accent a lot of us have with the really sharp vowel sounds or whatever. I get made fun of by all my friends who aren't from around here because of the way I pronounce certain words. As for real "accents" I personally love Australian accents.

It wasn't I tried like 7 or 8 at 1st and that didn't work, but 4 did at 1st above, then when I edited I could add a 5th. I'm not sure if you can just have 5 in there from 1st submission or not though. :!:

Well I'm super bored at work, so I'll join in on this discussion. World peace will never happen as long as there are different religions on earth, which is a little bit ironic when you think about it. Now I'm gonna try the smiliey thingy. And since I'm really super bored at work, the thought I've been pondering is: what would it be like to dream and think if you've been blind since birth. Would you just dream about feeling things or what?

Obstruction, Hooking, Slashing. Holding, Clutching, and Grabbing

Exactly. That's part of what I was getting at, is that the refs are calling things kind of backwards right now. Call the interference, call the boarding, call the high sticks. Let the weak hooks and holds and trips and stuff go, as long as the other guy has the puck and it doesn't blatantly prevent a scoring chance. -
If you like Brett Lebda simply because he wears the Winged Wheel and can look past the fact that he went to Notre Dame; something you hate more than anything in the entire world, more than words can explain. Meh, that's all I got. And I'm not a huge fan of those people from South Bend, IN if you can't tell.

SWF and BlueMonk: I pretty much agree with the basic message of what you're saying. Yeah, the officiating is inconsistent, and no, it's obviously not the end of the world. As for us blaming every loss on the officiating: well I assume that was hyperbole, but it's our right, nay, our duty, as fans to complain about how awful the refs are. I, like most people, don't care if you let penalties go. But be consistent in it. Don't let a hook go one minute, then call it the next. By calling a penalty, you are saying that it's just that: a penalty. Therefore it needs to be called every time it happens. The only things I think that need to be called every time without exception are potentially dangerous hits from behind and other malicious things, and yes interference. As for the officiating always being inconsistent, how does that make it OK? I've loved watching hockey from the first game I ever saw; just like all of you here I'm a huge fan of the game. It's my prerogative to expect and demand perfection from the referees to make the game more enjoyable for me. Now whether or not we'll ever get games called the way we want, we'll have to see, but it doesn't hurt to talk about it. -

They do cheat, that's a fact. Very few people, however, are saying that their cheating ways are the only thing that's gotten them to where they are right now. We give credit where credit is due. Now quit trolling, you're terrible at it. -
