Hahahaha, I LOLed pretty hard at that. And what's with all the hating on Granlund? To say he doesn't have grit because he's small is asinine. He's 17 years old and playing at a PPG pace is a very, very good league, a league full of men, he's not putting up inflated numbers because he's not playing against 11 year olds like guys in the CHL. A - he'll probably still grow some, and B - this kid is gonna be the real deal. Maybe not an absolute superstar, but he's going to be a great contributor on whatever NHL team he plays for.

I would love it so much if the Wings actually picked up the kid on that mock draft site, though I doubt it will happen. And it's not just because he's a Finn. Granlund is gonna be sick nasty.

I think the fact that Hudler got cranked may have made him keep his head up a little better, but I really strongly doubt he was any more afraid of Brown or the Ducks because of it. I'm not against gooning it up when you're gonna lose, and I think it's a whole hell of a lot of fun to watch, but I definitely think people overestimate the effects it can have.

To think that "sending a message" actually sends a message is a little näive. Nobody in the NHL plays scared because they got hit or got roughed up in a scrum at the end of a blowout. Now, I would've loved to see it too because I love rough stuff as much as anybody, but I really don't think it serves much of a purpose, so I'm not real concerned that the Wings didn't goon it up. I do want to see Abs drop the gloves every few games though.

I'm all for some dark humor, and in a lot of circumstances, I'd laugh at a joke like that, but a hockey broadcast isn't the time for something like that.

I feel sorry for him. Not everyone's able to live 4000 miles away from home to play a game. Obviously I wish he'd stayed so we could see that potential maybe come through, but apparently that's not gonna happen.

I remember them saying during Kovalchuk's rookie year (maybe it was his sophomore season) that at some point a decent way into the season that he was on pace for 50 goals and to be -100. Obviously that didn't happen, but that abysmal +/- reminded me.

I've never been a fan of Laraque, but I've never hated him either. This was a good read though. I really do believe that he's sorry (not that that will bring Nik back), and I also like how he called out Campbell, saying that players of his ilk aren't the type to make examples of; it's the star players that would really send a message.

As much as I could rationalize this by saying it wasn't quite as bad as Tootoo's s*** for a couple different reasons, I'd be doing just that: rationalizing. I like Carcillo, but this was bulls***. Heat of the moment, at least Bradley knew they were gonna go, blah blah blah. It was dirty, but as long as Carcillo doesn't make this a habit I'll be happy.
