At least he gets paid less than Nick
-
So disappointed in this signing. I love Saku, so I'm heartbroken to see him in Anaheim. Like others have said though, hopefully he and Teemu tear it up together. I'm sure they will.

Hahaha, Filppula does paint made me lol for real. I think literally it's "Filppula scores the goal." Most online Finnish translators kind of suck, but there's a couple good dictionaries around. This is the one I use, and this is kind of fun to play around with, a text-to-speech thingamajig. And staying on topic, it's even less than 800k? I *really* wish someone could clarify how this works with the qualifying offer rules.
-
"Filppula tekee maalin" worked pretty well last playoffs. I guess it's our fault for not continuing it with these most recent ones. Although we could start a new one with "Vittu joo"
-
If I had to guess, I'd say it would have to be #1. Why would he offer/Leino accept a deal where he gets paid less as he (theoretically) should be worth more.
-
I'd go with "vittu joo."
-
f*** yes. That is all.

I'm going to have to say it's improbable at best.

Congrats to all, especially Stevie Y. I still get weak in the knees when I see him or hear his name. No homo.

Holland waiting for 09-10 cap (update on contract offers)
seeinred replied to 96warrior's topic in General
A qualifying offer is just an offer made to an RFA in order to keep them an RFA. It's like 110% of their contract if they were making less than 660k and 105% if they were making more than that up to a million, then 100% if they were making a million or more. I think. -
Although I do agree it's time, you have to appreciate the fact that a bona fide legend spent so many good years with this team. There aren't a whole lot of teams that can say they've had 2 of the greatest defensemen of all time playing at the same time for them.
-
I believe the question was something along the lines of, "Who did you know was good, but had no idea how good until you played against him?" Of course, I could be 100% wrong.
-
I still think it's one of the most amazing plays I've ever seen. The strength and precision needed to keep a puck out with one hand on your stick is crazy. Plus the awareness to head straight for the net once he saw that puck go. Most guys would've skated behind Dom and chased Grier probably.

Val has been nothing short of beastly these last 2 playoffs. Grinding hard, and chipping in points at very key moments.
-
You would have to be certifiably insane to not take Hossa at 4 million.

Just ******* win. 14 to 3. It's gonna happen. Let's f***in' rage.

My old lacrosse coach told me how back in the day, he had a broken foot, and to make him able to play, they completely covered his foot, wrapping it as tightly as they could, then actually froze the wrap. I guess it made him able to fit in his shoe and completely numbed it.

Wings win 14 to 3. That's all. Let's f***in' rage!

Wings win 14 to 3. Hossa only manages to score 14, not quite giving the ultimate FU to the Pens that he wanted. Datsyuk scores the 14th with his mind from the press box. Let's f***in' rage!
-
Wings win 14 to 3. Hossa with 7, Mule with 3, Leino with 3, and Maltby with 1. Let's f***in' rage!

Little do you all know, I'm actually a member of the Red Wings, and I've just been telling the team not to win 14 to 3 until game 1 of the SCF. So it's gonna happen tonight. Wings win 14 to 3. Hossa with 14 to show Geno and Sid who's really boss. Let's f***in' rage!

I've been discussing this with some people on another board, and I want to know if I'm the only one that feels this way. I don't have the same level of anxiousness and concern about this series that I usually do. I think deep down inside, I feel like this should be a cakewalk for the Wings, even though I know it won't. The lack of concern for me is actually making me very worried about the series, if that makes any sense. I just feel like that on a basic level on paper, the Wings are better than last year and the Pens are worse. I'm not overly confident and expecting the Wings to sweep by 4 blowouts, but I honestly just can't see the Wings losing. I don't have that same nervous energy that I've had before every other series ever, and I hate it. I understand this is probably convoluted and doesn't make a lot of sense most likely, but does anyone get what I'm saying?

It's big. Every game is big. I'm not sure how much the psychological aspect of losing game 1 actually affects NHL players though.
