Like Doggy said, it still counts against the cap, but you're allowed to exceed the cap by that much while they're on LTIR. You accumulate absolutely zero cap space with players on LTIR. The only way the Wings can make a move that big with Homer and Stuart on LTIR is if they stay out until the playoffs.

It's all becoming clear now: Hossa was "injured" tonight, and he'll go on LTIR until the playoffs start, thus allowing the Wings to pick up any player they want before 3 PM today. KH truly is a genius.

I gotta agree. Dorsett - Carcillo was incredible. This was a great fight too though.
