This is also the way I understand it. That's why the Wings have been so stingy with their callups; they essentially accumulate cap space as the season goes on.

Yeah, I just saw someone else here say $3MM at some point and used that, I hadn't actually looked up the numbers. But the Wings can definitely pick someone up with around 4 times their actual cap space remaining. It would be stupid if teams were on the hook for a players entire cap hit when they only have him for 20ish games.

Every salary at this point is prorated. I'm pretty sure the Wings actually have room for someone with an actual salary of $3MM at this point or something. If Roberts were to clear waivers and then be claimed on re-entry waivers, though, the team that claimed him would only be responsible for half his salary.

Not unless he's put on LTIR, and even then it doesn't actually open up cap space, it just allows his salary to be replaced until he's reactivated.

Oh yeah, for sure. I give him and Teemu a ton of credit in that situation. At least Salmela tried to throw back when he realized he had to go and didn't turtle. And holy s*** was Teemu pissed at the end of that game.

I'm with you 100%. I really prefer the humility in general. But there's nothing I don't like about AO, so yeah, I'm gonna give him a pass on that one. They were booing him like crazy in Boston today, he scored a go-ahead goal and didn't do s*** in the way of taunting. That indicates maturation to me.

I'd wager that 95% of players would celebrate at least that much after that goal. He was a rookie. And it's a lot different doing it when you're down than when you're up.

Great game, although I thought the penalty leading to Chara's goal was kind of a gift. That goal made me really happy though.

That was vicious for sure. I'm not sure that Witt intended it to be that dirty, because sometimes when you know you're going to miss a hit, you reach out and try to make contact. Not offering it as an excuse, I'm just saying I don't think Witt went into the hit thinking it was going to be an elbow. Also, Finns are hardcore They don't like to stay down after cheap shots.
