Granted, I was super tired when it happened, but it looked to me like Hossa got legitimately taken down, no matter how subtle it was, so I don't think it's the type of call Mickey would have gone ballistic on. Maybe Gretzky had a legitimate beef with the call, but I don't think so. I think it was more of a "How are you gonna call anything this late?" type deal and not a "How are you gonna call THAT?" type blow up. Regardless of his career as a player, Gretzky really does manage to look like a whiny ***** pretty much every time the Yotes and Wings meet up.

I've been hit from behind harder than Lilja hit Backes and I didn't feign injury like that little ***** did. I've also hit people from behind and felt awful about it. It wasn't undisciplined or out of line. These things happen in the heat of battle. It was far from malicious on Lilja's part, and I'm sure the league will take that into account if they decide to take a look at it.
