I don't mean reaction like looking around and making a split-second decision. I mean reaction like "the puck's on my stick, I'm at the top of the crease. I'm gonna shelf it and hope for the best." Especially in traffic and during battles in front, players often don't even get a chance to pick a spot.

I see what you're saying, but it doesn't work like that. Especially the higher you go, those split second decisions aren't even decisions at all, they're pure reaction. I've played against goalies with white pads. I've played against goalies with other color pads. It's never made a difference.

People aren't condemning Holland for not telling Datsyuk and Lidstrom that they could just show up and avoid suspension because we know that had KH known, he would have offered it to Nick and Pavs as a possibility. That's all the proof I need that the original "understanding" didn't have the Crosby provision in it originally.

If it's a pure instinct of shooting during a scramble in front for example, you're either roofing it or you're just blasting it. These dumb pads aren't gonna cause good players to shoot at them even once. I think most of those pros know that they're wrong and it just comes down to superstition. That's why I still use black tape anyway.

Just like players thinking that black tape will make the puck harder to see for the goalie, if you're a shooter who falls for this, you have no business shooting a puck.

I saw the interview. Ron MacLean was really grilling Betmann about it, clearly on Datsyuk & Lidstrom's side, but Bettman just kept coming back with his canned response and said they're responsible for their own actions. He actually got kind of flustered. Ron MacLean is great in his interviews with the commish. Edit: He kinda takes a couple quick little shots at them too. Edit 2: He starts talking about Nick and Pavs about 6 minutes in.

Umm, no, it's not. Funny how he manages to completely ignore Crosby's Mike Legg style goal when he played for Rimouski. Not only was Rimouski trouncing their opponent at the time Crosby decided to do it, he went on to celebrate the goal like it was the most amazing thing ever. Ovechkin's crazy celebrations are because he's excited for his team. He does it just as much when other players score. This celebration by Crosby was because he knew he was going to make it onto TSN that night.

The 1st 2.5 periods were just OK. The last 10 minutes of the 3rd and OT were great though. But deciding an ASG with a shootout is stupid.

As a Wings fan 1st and an Ovie/Caps fan second, I can say that I seriously appreciate the sentiment. As much as I would like to see a Wings/Caps cup Finals, I would just hate so much to have to root against Ovechkin. I would love to see him win a Cup some day though.

They last played on Tuesday. Their next game is on Tuesday. I can think of a ton of injuries that can heal in a week if you rest it. Datsyuk demonstrated that he has a legit injury by missing most of the 3rd period against the Yotes. If Lidstrom says he's injured and can't make the ASG, the league should believe him. I get what the commish is trying to do, but he's just plain wrong in the way he's going about it.

No people grasp it, we just think it's a crock of s*** and don't get the different enforcement for different players. Plus, Datsyuk missed part of a game already.

Yet again, a perfect example of why women's sports suck. And I don't mean that in a chauvinistic way. To forfeit a game you won, even though you were kind of a dick when you won it isn't sportsmanship, it's downright idiotic.

I can understand not being happy with all the travel, but blaming your losing ways on it seems kind of bitchmade.
