It's not sitting on the fence. It's just one of three identities people assume when it comes to this season. There's: 1. People who think the sky is falling because we're not playing as well as last year. 2. People who think everything is fine, and we'll get into playoff form soon enough. 3. People who are happy with the performance thus far because we're winning games, but know there's plenty to be improved.

After some thought, I'm looking at it this way: Ya know how sometimes the Wings will get outplayed for a good portion of the game, flip a switch, then come out with the win? Tonight we're on the opposite end of that, and it sucks.
