  1. Our defensive pairings should be:

    Team Uncanny: Fighter/Thief

    Team Astonishing: Fighter/Red Mage

    Team Extreme: Fighter/Black Mage

OMG 8-Bit Theater. I love you.

But I hear Black Mage is out. Make it Fighter and Fighter.

  2. so how'd you guys find the answer?

    I found it on nhlpa.com

That probably would've been easier than what I did. I found a Red Wings roster from 93-94 via Google, which also had statistics. I narrowed down the list to players who had their first goal during the 93-94 season. Then did a Google search for "[Player Name] first NHL goal" until I found the answer.

  3. I fail to see how Lang could possibly play any worse than he has been playing lately. He doesn't produce, he turns the puck over, and he still refuses to skate or hit.

You're probably right about that. But don't we want him to start playing better? I think bumping him to the 4th line and basically giving up on him would probably be worse for him than switching up his linemates. Who knows, he may start clicking with the kids and play well. If not, we're not really any worse off.

  4. I've been wishing for this for a long time. I'd love to see Flip and Huds on the 2nd line. My initial thought was Cleary-Flip-Huds, but I agree that the experience of Lang in a Flip-Lang-Huds line would also be nice. Especially since moving Lang to the 4th line would pretty much be giving up on him... like when the Yankees moved A-Rod to 8th in the batting order against the Tigers... he'd probably end up playing worse.

  5. Pass.

Seriously, if Guerin is avalible at the same time, why in the world would the Wings take fat ass Tkachuk over Guerin? The cost of feeding Tkachuk alone would be too much for the Wings to handle. Unless St. Louis moves Guerin, and Tkachuk is our last and final option, than I suppose we might as well take him. But other than that, I say no to Tkachuk.

Probably because Tkachuk will come cheaper than Guerin.

  6. I think 3 shooters is good enough, im just glad its OT come playoff time because thats the most exciting thing to watch

    ABSOLUTELY!

    -Pre-game ceremonies and the need to curb how long they run;

Interesting. I'm surprised they're taking a look at this. I never thought of this as an issue, but looking back, Stevie's ceremony was scheduled for one hour with the game to start at 7:30, and it started at 8:30. Some of those speeches (Devellano's especially) got a little lengthy.

I don't think the Yzerman Ceremony was the problem. If I remember correctly, the players warmed up AFTER the ceremony that night. I think this issue was brought up because of ceremonies like Brett Hull's where the players came out for warm-up skate before the ceremony... then had to sit down for HOURS during the ceremony and then start playing right after it was finished without a warm-up.

  7. Maltby is the most expendable forward on the team.

Top three in various categories of value:

    Youth:

    Hudler, Filppula, Kopecky

    Defense:

    Zetterberg, Draper, Franzen

    Scoring:

    Zetterberg, Cleary, Holmstrom

    Passing:

    Datsyuk, Lang, Zetterberg

    Physical play:

    Franzen, Kopecky, Holmstrom

The only other forward who doesn't make that list is Samuelsson, who can score pretty well and is not a liability defensively. For a team that needs all the scoring it can get and has stellar defense, Sammy is more valuable than Malts.

I also don't see Williams on there.

  8. You completely missed my point.

If my team is 23-30 and your team is 10-0, in my opinion, there is no reason your team should be ahead of mine in the standings. There is no guarantee you will win anymore games, while my team is already guaranteed of having at least 23 wins. It comes down to pretty much being as simple as that.

If baseball wants to assume you will continue winning at the same rate, that is their prerogative.

I think you are right on with this.

But also: standings provide absolutely nothing to a team until all games have been played. So whether a 23-30 team is higher or lower in the standings than a 10-0 is completely irrelevant until both teams have played all there games. My point: no matter what system is in use... WHO CARES?

  9. ouch,..settle down boys, save it for the other team. Honestly what i've been saying all year is why don't we shoot closer to the net, our powerplay and the way it set up is always get the puck to the D, let them unleash a giant slapper and hopefully someone will connect on a rebound. That worked fine last year but for some reason won't this year,..i propose that instead of cyling to the D men we can cycle to the wings (granted this would be helpful if we actually had one) but to me a shot from 10 feet seems to work better than a shot from 20 feet

I think most teams try to defend against the closer shots. That's why the point shots are always open and why we always take them.
