Dont get me wrong, I really admire how Malkin has stepped up, however saying he has outperformed Crosby this year... um, yeah, because Sid is hurt. Crosby was ahead of all until he got hurt. Hell, he has been out for 20+ games and he is still in top 20ish in scoring I think. If I was making a cup run and I could add one player to my roster. Nick Lidstrom would get the nod, regardless of my loyalty to the wings. But if I was starting a franchise in 2009. And I could pick a player to cornerstone in, even with AO's scoring and charisma, I think I'd give the nod to Crosby.

I'll admit I'm disappointed that we arent a little richer in the scoring department, but ... another way of looking at this additional cap room we still have. ... Does anyone know what players are Summer 2008 Free Agents? Obviously we will still have to re-sign Cleary, and hold room for Z, but what guys can we put our cash towards this next summer. ... (that is After we win the cup)

I f***in hate Pierre McGuire, but his thoughts were exactly mine. Pitts did not do actualyl do that well here. Hossa is a great short term fix. But thats a lot. A lot if you look at it as a rental ... or as the fact that they arent going to be able to a Crosby, Malkin and Hossa under the cap, and still have enough coin to make a strong supporting cast.

I didnt see an answer to my cash question. So heres this, Illitch didnt mind spend a ton of money pre cap to have a winning team. So, give a prospect, draft choice, and a huge chunk of coin to get last trade.

I recall some older trades where cash was involved. Is this practice still used? Is it legal on the current CBA? Perhaps to avoid giving up so many prospects, just use a little coin.

I hate to say this, but Olli is going to be a very steep price tag, and I dont think we have as much to offer in the Hossa sweepstakes. Yeah, tick-tock, but dont think anything big is comin our way.

I live on the west coast, and have always been a strong supporter of keeping Detroit in the West conf. But f***, with how much the West is stocking up, I think we should trade our team to the Eastern Conf. for the duration of the season. If Detroit doesnt win the cup, i pick and Eastern champ cuz the Western survivor will be near dead after getting out of this mess.

On top of the USA roster, who do you guys think will be the favorites going into the Olympics? Will Sweden still hold it as reigning champs? Or with Some key guys getting older, will it move to someone else? This is also the first Olympics to be played no N.A. sized ice, so that will take away any (possible) benifit to Euro players. Agreed. Yes, when I look back on those old DVD's of mine, the blood gets going again. But thats a memory. The Wings Av's Rivalry was amazing, but its done. 96-02. I would love to have Luongo in net. I'd never want a squad like the nucks have though. With a dominant tender and s*** all for the rest. And yeah, I would also love to have so more muscle on or team. Well, I actually think it was Nicks. A shot from the point, homer was at the top of the crease. Jiggy came out to try to take out the angle, puck went in. Ref waved it off. The overhead cam clearly shows there was ZERO interference. And of course the second the puck went in f*** ass bag Prongers arms go flying in the Air like Homer had a f***in stabbed Jiggy.

I would just like to say, I scan through this thread from time to time, see what comes up. Points me to some good highlights from time to time. But mainly, I just love the longevity of this thread. It has been on forever.

I know there are probably other cases around the league with other players, but I really notice it with two of our guys. 1) If homer is anywhere near the goalie, he stands a very good chance of getting a call against him. My issue, he is one of (if not Thee) best in the league at screening the goalie. And he does it well. He rarely actually interferes, and yet everyother team acts like he is attempting to rape their goalie. It got league attention, and now he is called on it al the time. 2) Yes I know Dom has a 'history' of diving. However, so does every other f***in goalie in the league. Problem is, refs pin point him and single him out and when he does get pushed/knocked, no call. It is a terrible double standard which does affect us. It sucks as and I wish the league which actually do somthing about it.
