No, not stupid. While I remain tear free ... I am pretty stoked for the guy.

Rick Nash looks like he just woke up in a dumbster in that shot.

Victory!!! Haha ... I dont care how many people bash it, I'm excited to watch it. Add a bit of excitement to an event that year after year people ***** about as being dull. If it is so dull ... think of some events to try and turn it around. This is start. Good call NHL.

Obviously Mats is a world class talent, so every team would love to have him. But aside from us, which teams would seriously make a pitch. Not just what teams Mats would want to go to ... but what teams would put up offers that would be legit enough. I've heard rummblings that even Van might be in there. They have a large Swedish make up as well. Reason I ask, is because if he is available, and we are actually interested ... it is going to come down to the competition. Who can make a better offer than us? Who is willing or can afford to give more?

Congrats to our boys who made the team. I know it's been debatied many times before, I just hope during the skills competition the change the breakaway comp to more of a creativity thing. I see the shootout all the time ... I dont need to see someone skate in and let a wrist shot go from 10 feet. I wanna see some stupid ass, lacross style, behind the back, between the legs s***. It has little to do with the game of hockey sure ... but it sure would be sweet to watch.

obviously it depends on the final roster. obviously the 2 most talented are sid and vinny, with ovy and jagr not too far behind. but this is the all star game. not a big deal. so give it to a vet who is closer to the end. sid is going to be at this event every year for the next 15 years. So give it to someone who makes the squad who is 35+. An honourary type thing. West, yeah, I 100% agree on Nick. But guys like Thornton, Iginla, Sakic, could esily take it.

I dont currently have one, but back in the late 80's - mid/late 90's, the Kamloops Blazers were unbelievable to watch. At one time, they had produced more NHL players than any other city in the world. Was pretty amazing to watch. Mark Recchi (ATL), Shane Doan (PHX), Jarome Iginla (CGY), Darcy Tucker (TOR), Scott Niedermayer (ANA), Rob Brown (ret.), Kyle Calder (PHI), Darryl Sydor (PIT), Colton Orr (NYR), Scottie Upshall (PHI), Brad Lukowich (NJ), Robyn Regehr (CAL) are some of the more noticeable names. ... and coaches ... Tom Renney (NYR), and Ken Hitchcock (CLB)

I watched a bit of it and he played decent. He had a few moments when he was even amazing. the best I'd seen him play in years. I recall thinking when he went to the Yotes that I fealt bad for him, cuz he seemed like a class guy, but his Career was at an end and he would never hold the cup.

(sorry if this seems long for the post, but I think it's worth it) Exactly! every team, EVER... has had one guy or another they wished they hadn't traded. Look at the guys we have traded over the years. Look at the guys we have signed. Some of them have been total and complete busts. Some have been good. And some have been the guys who had made the difference. Where do we stand now? ... We have some amazing talent and chemistry. Where do we stand right now? ... We stand exactly where we have stood for the last decade? We are a strong team with a lot of promise. We can win a ton of games, score a lot of goals, and turn a lot of heads. ... ... Can we win a cup? Well ... we will see in a few months. Would I like a trade like the one that brought Shanny here ... of course I would. I would love to see Detroit pick up that one guy ... just that one guy that can push us over the edge. I look at our team. And we have all the talent in the world. People often say Euro's dont have heart. Well I beg you to tell me guys lilke Dats, Nick, and Z aren't in it, to win it. You can tell those guys care. Just by looking at them. They want to be champs. ... ...Can they be champs? Of course they can.... ... Can they do it on their own? ... when playing at their best ... f*** yeah!. But would it hurt to have that one final nudge in the right direction? Not at all. Will it come? I dont know. Will it come? Maybe. In the end ... I really dont care ... ... I dont care who it is that stays in Detroit or who we aquire. Sure, I have my fav's in Dats and Z who I think are gods in human form, but I just want to see us on top. I want certain players to lift the cup wearing our jersey, but in the end, it isn't the player who matters .. its the jersey. ... ... if Fedorov (whom I dearly loved and will always) held the cup with the Jackets (hahahaha) i'd say good on him, but thats about it. Truth is, he is no longer a Wing. I know this post is alomsot usless as it sides with neither for or against making a deal. But in the end, It simply comes down to the team. If the core of our team is willing to give everything, and follow the lead set by the great Stevey Y, and sacrafice everything for the 'W', then Hell f***in yeah, we will win the Stanley Cup. But if they need the slightest nudge, then Kenny get to work, pull the right strings, and lets find a home for the right guy to bring lord stanley back to Motown. Hell fukcin yeah!!! Elvis has left the building.

Decent. Good for a laugh. But I'm sure there are tons better. I love originality when it comes to this stuff, and he seemed to repeat the same lines over and over again. I wonder based on pure linguistics, who in the league is the best at chirpping the other team and players?

Regardless of price, it is Very reassuring to know he will remain on our blueline for another two years.
-
Yeah I got that. But I was just checkin the fan voting, and I thought Homers name would have atleast climbed to the bottom of the list. But he is nowhere in sight. It would just be funny if the Starters for the All star game were Z-Dats-Homer, and Nick and Rafi on the point.
-
So right now we have 3 outta 5 spots. And though he wont be a starter, it is very realistic that Raf will be added by the coach. Though, Homer is no where in site. I thought he would atleast have cracked the bottom of that list.

Totally agree. I really dont mind Crosby at all. I know there was a bit of a backlash the first year (which I was a part of) but for the most part, that was because of the constant bombardment by the media. I mean, the Wings highlights would last 10 seconds, then I would get to watch 10 minutes of Crosby. I fully understand the reason for trying to get his name out there and publisize #87, but spread the wealth around. There is more to the league than just Sid, a lot more, so advertise that as well. I can guarentee if the media stops the 24/7 ... Crosby this, Crosby that, most of the 'haters' will forget they ever had a problem with him.

I know it means in general, but still the article comes across as sounding like one play single handedly saved the game.

Haha, Lou and Blue, haha ... Brutal.

I know it has always been this way, but HNIC is really, really starting to Piss me off. Like seriously, every f***in week do I have to watch the Maple Leafs!?!? No offense to Mack, but they are a s*** club. They are no fun to watch and for once give us something else. Like last week, Nationwide got Maple Leafs, While the Ottawa region got their game. For once let the country watch our nations (being Canada) best team. (even if they are on a bit of a skid at the moment) I guess it also pisses me off because my cousin is a big Leafs fan, he gets to see them All the time, and I near never get my WIngs.

Good call. Even I looked at that this morning and was like, WTF!? haha. Yeah, umm, vodka and red bull. So good once it hits the lips.

Happy Gilmour (spelling?)

I know with each team having to play eachother 8 times, it probably wont happen, but isnt it unreal that all 5 central teams have a shot at the playoffs. Think about that, that leaces 3 spots for the rest of the conference. The Northwest will only get 1, ( the winner of the division) and Pacific will get 2. Insane!!!
-
I like big butts is .. "back that ass up" Same song. I know its been a little over done, but cant go wrong for certain guys when the play "You're Unbelievable", the 80's song by, (I believe) EMF, almost positive. Would make sense for Dats.

I came across this article on foxsports.com - made me curious. Obviously the owners see AO as the teams future and their money-ticket. But how about AO? Do you think the guy will want to stay there? It must be frustrating for him to be on a team which is no-where near making the playoffs. Would the Caps recognize that they may not be able to afford it and trade him? How many teams could afford to make a offer-sheet which could pull him away? How much would it take? Most of all, does this even have a possibility of turning into reality, or is it just a crazy idea which makes an interesting discussion topic? ------------------- "Maybe someone can provide one good reason for Alex Ovechkin to sign a new contract with the Capitals before becoming a restricted free agent on July 1, because we sure can't think of any. Ovechkin, stuck in a hockey market in DC that's as irrelevant now as it was before the lockout and therefore denied a suitable stage to showcase his brilliance, isn't going to make more money by signing with the Caps than he would by inviting offer sheets this summer. Even if owner Ted Leonsis tries to make him the NHL's highest-paid player by offering a max contract of $10.3 million per season, the value of a max contract - 20 percent of the cap - will rise this summer in direct proportion to the anticipated 7-to-10-percent cap increase for 2008-09. Honestly, if Kevin Lowe believed Thomas Vanek to be worth four first-round draft picks last summer, any number of GMs with cap space to accommodate an annual hit of up to $10M per surely will feel the same way about the dynamic 22-year-old Ovechkin. He has registered 112 goals and 221 points in his first 184 NHL games. Memo to Brian Burke and all those who would howl at the thought of rival teams "poaching" another club's marquee player: Ovechkin does not belong to the Caps. Through no desire of his own, he merely is playing for Washington under a three-year, entry-level capped lease that will expire at the end of this season. He never chose to play in DC so much as he chose to play in the NHL rather than remain in Russia after the lockout. The Caps did nothing to earn Ovechkin other than being lousy in 2003-04 before then winning the Draft lottery to leapfrog both the 29th-overall Blackhawks and 30th-overall Penguins. That got them the first pick in what has become essentially a two-player draft, with Evgeni Malkin going second to Pittsburgh. The NHL surely would never admit such a thing, but getting Ovechkin into a marquee hockey market would benefit a league that's most identifiable now by a combination of cap-imposed mediocrity in the guise of parity and the absence of super teams. The Caps have averaged 74.2-percent capacity this season, the third-worst mark in the league behind Florida and Chicago. They're one of six teams in the NHL under 80 percent capacity thus far, one of 13 under 90 percent in a gate-receipts league. Hard Cap utopia, anyone? There's a new coach in Washington after two years of regressing under Glen Hanlon, and the guess is there will be a new GM, too, by the end of the season if George McPhee's team doesn't show marked progress between now and the end of the year. Amid all this uncertainty and performing in a backwater hockey room with talents designed for the big stage, why would Ovechkin commit now to remaining in Washington? Sinatra left Hoboken, didn't he?"

interesting concept ... but something about the penalty shot is so huge. Even with shoot outs these days, the penalty shot is still cool. And if the option for the PP was there, there would only be one or two guys on a team, who the coach would have faith in to give them a shot at the penalty shot.

I have always believed that with all his god given gifts, speed, size, shot, hands, etc. if you put Darcy Tuckers (just an example) heart into Jagr, he woulda broken Gretzky's records. But thats just a 'what if.' In the real world, he is on and off, and thats the way it has always been. While in his early career, he played well under Mario, since then, he has always had to be the star to shine. Kind of like our buddy Lang, he needs to be the go-to guy. And I'm afraid, even with his phenomenal talent ... we already have our go-to guys. While this is one of the scenarios where I close my eyes and start drueling like Homer, I just know its best left in fantasies and out of the real world.
