Was that the elbow? The initial camera angle on it wasn't great, but once they showed 3 or 4 other angles, i dont know how the refs didnt see it.

I fully respect the weight on your shoulders with the playoff brackets, but I want Van out. Luongo is scary. One of the few guys in the league who really scares me. It will take a lot to beat him, so if he can be out before we have to face him, all the better.
-
No, I think Vancouver is the most over-rated team. Sure, the Sedin's have finally emerged as a decent talent, but without Luongo that team is nothing. In Van, and BC, they act like the have the best roster out there ... please ... they owe everything to one man. But I totally agree that I want the Sens to win. The Pens are going to be a great team over the next few years, and I just want the Sens to be like; "It's not your time yet."

While the regular season often had a poor atmosphere in the Joe, the playoffs have been much better, Truth be told, it seems the don't have the same microphone hook-ups when in Detroit. Like, when I watch a Van/Cal/To game, there is a lot of focus on trying to include the fans noise into the show. I can relate what it is like to be frustrated with your team come playoff time. I think if any fans can, Detroit fans can. Look at our countless years of top-seeded ranking and disapointments. We both are very good home teams so it will be interesting. I think Detroit has the talent, the depth, and the determination to keep pushing but I will be interested to see what the Flames bring to the ice in Calgary.

Yeah, the video he chose to show was pretty bad. As mentioned, the hit shown, left the player in front (Roberts I believe) wide open for a goal. And the quote where he says, 'if every player was like that, they'd win.' ... Umm, yeah.
-
Thanks peeps. Just saw it on highlights. Big hit, questionable on the whole 'head-shot' debate. We'll see.
-
Just got back in, and they were mentioning a stretcher and Eaves, read back about the hit. Did you guys/gals hear anything else?
-
I cant access the Flames forum to see what they are saying ... you have to register and I dont really want to go through the effort. But on TSN's the flames fans seem to be pretty chocked at the perfomance of their team. Interesting, because generally in situations like this, a lot of fans (not saying just calgary) start pointing fingers and blaming everything and anything.

I know, I am such an owl and am generally on late. It was 4-5 nights again I was chatin and kept seeing these Late Night Crew banners going up. Regardless, I will be on here late anyway.

Kipper has been unreal, but at the same time that isn't going to change. Look at the goalies in the west that we may potentially have to face in the coming rounds. We are going to have to make everything count!
-
And I kinda like how the games are staggered. The later 2 cross, but for the most part, hockey followed by hockey, followed by hockey. I dont have to wear out the remote flipping back and forth.
-
I think most will agree with you. And Huds and his line have made a bold statement that they/he should remain over Sammy. But all season long, when push came-to-shove, Babs seemed to choose Sammy to remain in the game over Huds.
-
That way if we end up playin Van or Dallas they already will have played an equivilant of 2 series'.
-
Dallas continues to play strong, win game 3. Ottawa will rebound and go up 2-1. Beer - Check Chips - Check Wings - Wait for Game Time
-
We have some solid vets, so I doubt the atmosphere will rattle the team. I want us to play a little more like game 1. Not a lot different than #2, just a few more hits. 'Z' will find his touch soon enough, Dats hopefully will keep going strong, and really hopin Bert will be ready to go.
-
The debate has been firmly settled as far as Filp is concerned. And yeah, Huds has been pretty solid too. (though not to the same level ... (personal opinion) I agree, out of all, Sammy should sit, but if Huds needs to step aside for Bert, then it is going to, and should happen. Bert is a better are round player, more experienced, can score, and has the size. No questions asked, if Bert can play, he is in!
-
He has been awesome. I have been greatly impressed in these two games with his level of play and all round game.
-
DiPietro was awesome. I was really supprised to see how well he played. I know I saw how well Z returned after sooo long off. But still, to come in as he did and help to steal the game, great stuff.

I miss Mac as much as the next wings fan, okay, well perhaps not as much as some, but his time is done. He scored some huge goals for us, as key to the cups, and a spirited leader who backed down from nothing! But Snepts put it best in the last McCarty Thread: (refering to McCarty mainly, but a handful of other ppl also brought up Shanny) "Those guys will always be Red Wings in my book, and a small part of me would love to see them come home, but nostalgia doesn't win Cups." Its true. We loved them, we will miss them, and always have that place in our hearts for them. But they are now just great memories, and it is in those memories and only those memories that they should be wearing our jersey.

Before I get to the game I would just like to say wow.... Game 1 did NOT sell out. Crazy. I know it has been heavily debated on these boards many times about seating, but I just find it crazy that game 1 of the playoffs they wouldn't sell-out. Wouldn't they drop the prices last minute to get rid of them!??! I know fans must be frustrated at playoff pasts .... get the hint managment. But what a game to miss. Detroit was as good as I have seen them in a long time. Anyway, game 2. Super stoked. It is 2:15 am pacific time right now, and the game starts at 10:00 am PT. So, not a lot of sleep will be had by me by the time I finally power-out. This will be a huge game for us. Possibly even bigger than game one. Ottawa hammered Pitts in game one but Pitts came right back. Will Calgary attempt the same? We will soon find out, .... same bat time, same bat channel.

Niether were that bad. I wasn't happy that it happened. Just as much as flames fans probably jumpmed through the roof when Kipper went down. Truth is, Dion shoulda got 2 minutes for roughing for what he did to Z. I remember screaming when it happened, but that was in the heat of the moment. Same with flames fans. If they actually sit back and watch the goalie interference, and put aside their bias, they will see that Kipper was hardly touched. And obviouslu hasek doesnt deserve the oscar. If he did, you wouldn't have thought it was a dive, simply that he got knocked over. And Oscar worthy performance is based on good-acting. Hence, if you truly believe Kippers, then his deserves the nod.

Yeah, I have known Iggy since his days in Kamloops. He is a class act guy. One of the nicest people I can say I have ever met. And he is aware that he has been put in a good position and has been fortunate, and he doesn't keep it all for himself, very giving, down to earth person. On the ice, he is a competator. Bottom line. I'll admit, even I got a little edgey the other day when he was pushing Dats after the whistle. I was like, 'come-on, are you honestly going to try to fight Pavs!?!" If Iggy were wearing our jersey, I would be a happy man. And yes, Love having the flames fans around. Just nice to have that opinion for some good old-fashioned discussion.

Alright, everyone have a good evening. Enjoy the games. I'm gunna have dinner and head off to work. If anyone is sober enough, chat when I get back, if not, see you all tomorrow morning.

I have to imagine at some point he once gave a compliment to a non-Canadian. Though I imagine he probably quoted the comment, "... just like a good Canadian kid!"

They may try the trap to slow us, though I think game 1 showed that could be tough for them. Because we have our successful, traditional puck-possession style, where we dont let them touch the puck. And though that can fall victum to the trap, we played a little dump-and-chase last game. And we were Winning the races to puck and the battles in the corner. Flames will come strong, but I think we are ready.
