It will be interesting to see how this award is handled this year. Especially if Lids dominates down the stretch. The only thing I can think of is that the NHL is looking to pass the trophy reign on to someone else. Despite Nicks superior talent and defensive ability, I would not be shocked at allto see either Chara or Green win it this season. That being said, I'm still firmly in Nicks corner.

^ What!? I dont believe this. That is Steve, isn't it?. Am I being the blonde in some joke!?

interesting. I like it. I've very much flip flopped on Sid. I didnt like him much in junior, or in his first blast at the nhl. But again, really not because of him, but because of the publicity. He is far from my favorite, but I have decided my true hate for Cros is the concent public, verbal handjobing he gets. Thats all. Truth be told, I wish he had a wicked scorer on his team, because I would like to see him win a few more scoring titles. Anyway, nuff on that. But nice to see a change of thought on syd.

I actually got asked this question by a lot of my friends who think wings jerseys look stupid this way. I cant be positive on the answer, but I believe this is the way our jerseys used to be/originally were. I recall a picture, from the Howe dynasty days, and I am pretty sure those letters were on the side the are now. Just a possible answer.

resolved? I think it will make it worse. 95% of the league is on vacation by this point. 1/2 are on either shuswap or okanagan lake, the others, well, back in Europe/Russia. I know the league would gladly pay for flights to get these high star players to this event, but I can see it causing even more problems for off-season players who have to set down their beer, get off the lake and go skate around for a few days.

I am evil Homer ... I am evil Homer.

Ya, thats kinda what I was thinking. And I know it isn't really hockey ... but its what I want to see. Especially with the Shootoutin the NHL these days, I have plenty of opportunities to see breakaway dekes, etc. The All-Star comp and more specifically the breakaway comp is an opportunity for the best players in the world to show off. Do stupid little tricks and what not that I could only dream of. Sure, it would also be sweet of the puck went in the net, but that asking a lot against NHL class goalies who are expecting reverse, wrap around, lacrosse style shots.

2 for Maltby. I recall (even though we would lose the series) Maltby scored a goal against the Oil in our series with them when nobody on the team could. Also, there is a shot-block from Malts a few years back that the NHL used in a lotof Promo's. He basically risked his life in a sort of dive/saving motion. Just shows that playoff spirit of do it all to win.

Probably could use a thread of its own, but similar topic. What does this trade dealine hold in store for the league? What teams does it look like will be making moves? Who is pretty much going to be moved. Obviously this topic will come up again as the date gets closer. Just something to think about.

I hate ruutu beyond words. The only reason Pronger gets a worse time is because Pronger is actually good. This ass clown is a joke and shouldnt even be in the league. I have to stop on this subject for I fear my language will only decline on this topic.

I know it dates back to pre-ebay days, but back when Gretzky, Mario and all thosegreats were juniors, did people shock the world by asking $100 for a game worn jersey?

do hall of famers normaly have their numbers retired?
arnoldbuck replied to ben_usmc's topic in General
Have to disagree. I'm no Canuck fan, but he was soo much to that franchise. Obviously not the talent that many other guys are, but I dont necessarily think retiring a number has to do with talent or numbers or awards. It is simply an honour from an organization to a player. And I 100% agree that Linden was that man for the Canucks. -
I think the Red Wings organization would loose a ton of respect if they did this. True, we have to look out for ourselves, but Hossa took a cut and a chance to be with us. If we did that to Hos after his sacrifice ... very, very low. Besides, after the trade with Hossa last year and him not staying in Pittsburg, I doubt many teams would risk a big trade on him knowing he is 99% most likely not going to resign.

I met him the other week. Was cool. Hung out for a while. He drinks Coors Light though.

its taken a long time, but man i am lovin hudler these days.

story like this happened a few years back with the Canucks. They called a guy from the UBC Thunderbirds. I think Auld was the backup filling-in (dont quote me) and I remember at one point he took a shot and fell to the ice. Immediatley the camera went to this kid sitting on the Canuck bench. His eyes were wide like, OMFG! (yes I just said omfg) looking around. In any case, he didnt end up getting in, but still cool.

This will be the first live Wings game I've seen in three years!!! I'm so stoked!!! Hoping for a wicked game, and obviously a Big win!!!
-
I woke up and it is -3 outside!!! Damn you Bettman!!! Damn you!!!
-
The key thing here as everyone knows is his health. I'm almost positive early last season right out of the gate, Z was on a huge tear. I cant quote exactly, but I'm pretty sure he was well on pace for 50. I sure hope he can do it this year!!!

Dammit Duck Guy, I always liked you. But you dont want Roy's record to fall!?! Fail.
-
Hands down Dom. A talent beyond talents, and ever so entertaining. I could ramble on and on about favortie highlights ect. but we have all seen them. We all know.

Personally I have to put a different vote in. Over the past few years on LGW's, I have mentioned it a few times, but in 02', when I watched the Wings live in Vancouver on the PP they had, Hull Yzerman Shanahan Fedorov Lidstrom Hasek Check, Mate. Competition Over.

Like Jackie Moon!
-
I don't know about over there, but consider yourself lucky whatever the prices are. I live in BC, I checked out prices for this season in Vancouver, Holy Crap! If you feel bad, haha, just go check out those prices and all will be at ease.

My last ones were/are Jagr, Feds, Shanny, Sakic. All the others are gone. It's funny, because I love Dats and Z. And on other times, I really enjoy Kovalchuk, Nash, Vinny, Iggy. ... But, it isn't the same. I don't look at them as my idols anymore. So thos four (three I suppose with Jagr taking off) are really the last men standing of the greats I admired in my youth. Damn, I feel old suddenly, and am in need of Peter Pan and a Never Never Land.
