^^^ You guys are right. I live in Canada, and if I want to see it, I will turn on NBC. I know some ppl are making the arguement that its turning its back on Canadians, but that isn't that base for the arguement. It is that CBC is paying Huge dollars for the rights and isn't getting what it payed for. Atleast there should be some form of compinsation for this.

Obviously Bert is better, but I really liked the way Huds and Lang were going a couple weeks back.

Well, CBC does have every right to be choked. They are paying a ton of money. But, the league is trying to advance popularity in the USA. My question, do afternoon games on NBC stand a shot in hell at getting that many fans though? What is NBC show on Saturday during Primetime?

I know everything looks so tight this year, but crazy s*** always happens. For obvious ones, I would say Buffalo could easily do it. But I wouldn't at all be supprised to see a few more before the playoffs are done.

I know you are trying to defend Detroit as a city, and with a good portion of the the fan base, I am sure many LGW'ers will support you for that. But the article is 'partially' right about it not happening in Toronto or Montreal. And the Raps dont suck and more. They are 3rd in the east. Yes I am aware who is in first. I know Canadian cities don't have NFL (most that have hockey do have CFL) (you can make fun of the version of football if you like, but it is still a major sporting event with asses in seats) only Toronto has a MLB (Montreal did fail to hold on) but aside from those, it isn't like there is nothing happening in those cities. Many huge sporting events in different sports. The one and ONLY loop that can really be pointed at here is the Expo's. Other than that, people are out to support their team. I agree that ticket prices are insane. I live in BC and couldn't afford one trip to a single game in Vancouver this year. And I will give credit to those who state that the Mich. economy is bad. I wouldn't know about your financial state living so far away, but it is a legitiment reason. But it is playoff time and I dont know why, but when I watch a hockey game on TV it just seems so much more exciting when you can hear the fans screaming over teh anouncers. For so long I loved watching Red WIngs games on TV at the Joe, and hearing the commentators talked about Detroit fans as intimadating ... hard to be intimidatin with empty seats is all. I wont for a second bash anyone who simply wont go because they can't afford it. It is a huge expense these days and no matter how much you love the wings, sometimes that call has to be made.

Av's signed him through 200-08. Good on him. He had a great season. I would have really liked to see them be our first round opposition. Next to Steve, Joe is the image of the modern captain. Class all the way. Can't imagine he will ever leave the Colorado organization. Curiosu to see in the years coming up if he can catch Steve's totals. Next year at deadline, Iginla for Lilja and a 2 or 3rd rounder. Loved DMac back in the day, but he isn't the player he was in the 90's. Iggy all the way. But in these playoffs, I give him only 1 goal. And our boys can shine.

Maybe one of the Nuck's fans can clarify for us, but I am pretty sure in the last few games I saw that towels had been placed over every seat at GM place. Cuz at game time, everyone had them.

Not a superstition, but I have done some Red Wing related stuff at playoff time. I work easily one of the most popular restaurants in the city, in BC. I started bartendin there in 02' and have worked there since. For that year, first round against the Nuck's I came in 2 hours early for shift, and decorated the bar crazy in Red Wings memorabilia. I had posters, stick, pucks, a Hockeytown banner, mcfarline action figures, even changed the salt and pepper shakers to my Red Wings ones. I dressed in Red, with a jersey, hat, pants and painted my face. My managers weren't too impressed, but they couldn't deny the crowd that came in. They were all Nuck's fans who just wanted to grill me. And for Game 1 and 2, they did. But, well, the rest is history.

As above. More leadership? Well, I agree we have lots to prove, and perhaps are better prepared. But no Steve, No Shanny. We still have some big names, with experience, but the biggest playoff heart is up in the rafters now.

living on the west coast, all year the Van fans have watched Detroit games with me and told me what a poor atmosphere the Joe had. (I have to agree) With the heavily, and over-debated corporate seats going un-used, and often lack of enthusiasum by fans, the atmosphere was definatley lacking. But its playoff time, hopefully asses will fill the seats and voices will be left at the games! Wish I could be there with you guys. (and girls)

Well, like everyone we probably can get a little hostile if the situation merrits, but for the most part, LGW'rs seem pretty classy. Personally I respect and fa, of any team. They have their own opinions, their own objective, but it adds variety to the boards.

Perhaps when the scheduel was being made the finalists weren't determined yet, but yeah. Hella-rediculous considering the distance. This isn't two teams geographically close. I know it affects both teams equilly having to travel like that. But still ...

I dont think any series is that clear. The only one in the west that may have a chance of being easily called is Ducks vs. Wild. But ya never know.

Yeah I saw the save. He is pretty unreal. I dont think the '1st playoff appearance' will affect him at all. He is at the top of his game. It is scary to be an opponent because everytime he is on the ice (everynight) he gives his team a chance to win. In my mind, he is a game/series stealer! If we come across him, we are going to have to get in tight, and get Bert and Homer in there and shot from close. Capitalize on Everything!
