Different game BUT ... Vinny just scored his 50th of the year.

Dumbest thing you've ever heard another teams fans say
arnoldbuck replied to theman19's topic in General
Actually, I heard a pretty good line last year. Again it was actually from a Canucks fan. Right after the regular season ended and we dominated and won the Presidents Trophy I of course was bragging a little bit about our dominance. His rebutal was ... "Thats what you get when you buy your team." For those who missed that ... that was last season ... post lockout, hence salary cap. Good for a laguh. -
I think they should move Rex up with Dats and move Bert with Lang. I just think with only a few games left there are few more chances to try to get the lines clicking as best we can. Not to mention, I would assume when Z returns he is going back with Dats and Homer so where will that fit Bert. Anyway, play physical again, hopefully Oz is as solid as last game he played.

I will state that for what he brings to the ice, and for the price he brings it ... I 100% support Chelly. But what I am curious is do you guys think he will want to retire here? If the day comes when management says, "no room for you" will he move on or retire? Or do you think he is aware enough of his own ability to know when he is no longer useful and will retire before he ever has to face a situationof being cut?

I know there have been soo many threads since the trade dealine about how we are going to make our lineups look when everyone is back ... but with Z getting better and better, and closer to in game action, sure makes me wonder how it will play out and who everyone will be set up with.
-
Haha, WWIII. I suppose you are right ... one of those 'different era' things. Though, still seems crazy you could have that many penalty minutes. Were penalty boxes bigger in the 70's-80's to accomidate more people?
-
It's funny. There are some threads which seem to pop up every week which get really frustrating to deal with over and over ... haha, but with the news on Zet's being back ... There could be something new everyday and I wanna hear it. Hurry back, we all miss ya.
-
^^^ Lookin at those PM numbers above it blows my mind. I mean, I get frustrated these days with the amnount of penalties called. But I suppose those were a lot more 5 min and 10 min penalties.
-
by no stretch do I want this to play out ... but if we do go down in the first round. I pray that it is an absolute WAR on the ice. And everyone in the league know's it. But back to the topic. It sucks to be in the posistion of the coach. Generally it's where the axe falls first. But who could replace Babs? What could they do different with the lineup we have?
-
I agree with the posts above. I just dont think it could ever be dublicated. AS mentioned, none of the Russians were in the NHL so it was these elite guys who we had never seen before. There was so much about it, the really did hate one another. It would be difficult to imagine Fedorov wanting to rip Shanny's head off. Also, back in 1972, one could argue that Canada and Russia were leaps and bounds above every other hockey playing nation in talent. But with the increasing popularity of the game, the playing field has balanced out.

No doubt they are tough. And they can score. Like most of the west, gunna be interesting to see who makes it out of the playoffs. Who would be our toughest team? What year? Who was on it?
-
Thats how they always look.. Even last year in the playoffs, if I recall correctly we badly out shot them, but they woudl captalyze on every little chance they got.
-
I agree with that. He would be in that position with us, but with another team, he is able to step up and try to fill a higher roster roll.
-
But as far as aggitators goes he has decent hockey playign ability. Compare him to J.Ruutu, and Tootoo. Tootoo (as has been concluded on LGW) is a cheap-shot taking player who is almost oblivious to the fact that there is a puck on the ice. Ruutu is like Tucker in the fact that he drives other teams nuts by getting in their face, but he NEVER does anything about it. He is the biggest chump in the league, stirs s***, then turtles when it comes against him. Atleast guys like Avery and Tucker can score, and can stick up for themselves.
-
I will somewhat agree. I always find it a little low when someone attacks after a goal ... but I suppose in all fariness I dont remember the specific events of the night or leading up to that goal. Perhaps uncalled for, perhaps he got what he deserved. Truth though, as a Red Wing fan, when I do see my team giving that emotion I love it.

Souray may be younger, but he is going to command a ton of money, and he is every bit a pylon as our other defensive liabilities. Draper - refer to Harold's Signature ... "No Trade Clause!"

How far the Wings are going to go in the playoffs?
arnoldbuck replied to Zetterberg is the man!!'s topic in General
As recent years have shown us, a hot goalie even on the worst of teams can destroy us ... so it is gunna depend. And it is also going to depend on our health status... obviously a full lineup is essential ... Zetterberg above all must be back. And we have to have our lines with our new additions clicking. If we can settle everyone in and find an appropriate fit for everyone I really think we can do some damage. -
46 and 1!!!!!!!!! Holy Crap!!!
-
Ooooh ... so thats how you got your post count up to 7000. Haha, jj. I know ... kinda a week topic, but he is somewhat of a new face and his is playing some solid hockey.
-
Brodeur ... I know the guy is a monster. Just looking at his games played over his career is nuts. If I was a backup and traded to NJ, I'd retire. No chance of seeing ice. Has a backup for him ever emerged as a success anywhere else?
-
I agree that it is low that ppl boo him. But truth be told, its all in love. The miss him, wish he hadnt left, and let it out in the wrong way. And yes Shanny got a nice paycheque fro NY, but Detroit matched the offer ... Shanny just fealt it was time to go. And as I am sure others are mentioning ... Feds reasons for leaving were similar. He was offered MORE money by Detroit than other teams, and ended up with less with the Ducks. He wanted to move on for personal reasons and he did. We will always love him and miss him in Detroit whether some are willing to admit it or not.
-
Hmmm... then go become a Nucks' fan would ya!!! haha, jj.

Last year wasn't as bad as the year before. Last year they seemed to make some effort. But agreed, the last few games havent seemed like teh playoffs are just around the corner.
-
Just adding that I agree. I have been really impressed over the last few months with Dats' play in general. Even when Hank was in the lineup. His strengths on the PK have really shown, his playmaking, and goals. My hats off to him. That being said, can't wait to them together again.

No shoot out in the playoffs either.
