Strongly Agreed. I thought Burke would be top 3. He brought Van out of the depths and gave them a competator. And now he has done the same for the Ducks. You know what I find funny about the trap, is I live in western Canada, and everytime I am watching a Canuck, Oiler or Flames game, and those teams are winning by playing the trap ... the Announcers call it "Now thats some strong solid defensive hockey!!!" Yet of Detroit ... or any american team for that matter does a trap, even for a few minutes, the same announcers jump on it "This is EXACTLY what the New NHL is trying to get away from, Damn Trap-Style Hockey and these clubs are bringing it right back!!!" Haha, I know announcers are always going to be somewhat biast to the teams that cut their paychques, but come on, seriously, call it for what it is. If your clubs are going to win by the trap, don't make up fancy words to disguise it.

Doesn't matter which team you cheer for here, it is just class to recognize a fan who took some time to make a funny little video. Good on him. Very funny.

I see. Yeah, during one of my stints down under I actually played casually in one of the ice hockey leagues. It was really interesting to see. Must agree with you about the state of most rinks in aussie. Did feel kinda bad for ya. I was somewhat shocked to see some of the decent talent level of some of the players. There are some talented boys there, all be it, a few. (nothing against aussie, its just a young sport... yet to really catch hold) It did make it fun though. Melbourne is a great city. Though, I have yet to see it in full summer. I found it very difficult to find NHL games while I was down there, especially to be fortunate enough to come across a Red Wing game. Though I did find a few places which would get the game for me.

Always good to see how far the Red WIng influence has extended. I myself have been to Australia on several occasions. I absolutley love the country. Seems I am not the only Canadian to feel that way, lots of Canadians living down there. What league/team do you play for? Anyway, hope to talk to you on here in the future. Welcome aboard.

Thats awesome. What it kinda reminds me of is a few weeks back when the TSN guys were interviewing Weight before the game and Cheli was stretching off to the side and started jokingly jabbing his stick at Weight. You could see Weight grinning. Just goes to show that even though guys are on different teams, you can still be friends and have a little fun.

If anyone has any idea's on how Wingslogo19 could get an Octi into GM place, put them out there. When taking them to the Joe ... does security try to stop you or do they let it go??? But this is foreign territory, will have to be pulled off perfectly.

I do like Schneider ... I does give us a dominating PP dou with Nick, but I suppose it is going to come down to price.

I think the majority of people will disagree with that. I do agree with the part about Steve being given the time to develope into the leader who would eventually become though. But I have no desire in signing huge contracts to players who are playoff no shows. I love watching Datsyuk on the ice, one of the most exciting players to watch ... but by no stretch of the imagination am I willing to pay someon $6 million a season for a handful of highlight-reel goals and plays but no shot at a Stanley Cup.
-
Just saying that there is really no way I want to pay him wome of the numbers that have been thrown out there today, yet, if Dats and Z can play together for the next few years like they did through Feb. then I will be happy to see Dats back in the Red. (sidenote) ... He also must be able to continue his Feb-like play into the spring.

Its sweet to see guys in the top 20 like that. We have pretty much only had Nick there for the longest time. I think it takes into account everything ...as you would probably guess. Takes salary and compares it to points, time on ice, penalty mins, +/-, ... stuff like that. Because it believe it is there "fantasy value" for online pools etc. Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure thats how it goes.

Every time we play the Prads I get a little more excited. (more so when we win) But its a feeling that seems to be lacking in so many of our games. The players get passionate, the fans even get angry. Just look around the LGW threads, how many are about Hating Nashville. I love it. Its a legit rivalry, something we NEED. I was reading in the threads the other day some guy who wished the Preds would move ... come on ... you hate them so much you wanna give up a great divisional rival so we can play St. Louis and Chicago. Loving the games, another Huge Win Boys!!! P.S. Oh yeah, I forgot, BOOTLAND ... Drop Your Gloves this Time and Lay that Chump Out!!! Hell, I dont care who it is, just somebody drop him.

Because then teams like the Penguins who were retarded in the mid to late 90's and pissed away one of the best core's on earth, sucked it up for a while and as a result has Crosby (all fairness won in the lottery) Malkin, Stall, Fleury, etc. I mean come on. This team has the potential to be rediculus simply based on the fact that they sucked ass for a handful of years. True that in Detroit I would never want to suck that bad for that long to get that kinda talent, nor do every first or second overall pick turn out to be All-Stars, but often those top 5 are top 5 for a reason. Would be nice to have a better distribution sometimes.

If you pull that off ... you will be my HERO!!! I will have my eyes glued. I live in BC, hate the Canucks, will love it!!!

I dont care if Tootoo is a chump, it was embarassing to watch that as a Wings fan. Even though we came away with the win, I'm sure the guys on the Preds boards had a good time with that.

True, he probably he isn't worth 4 mill. Perhaps when he was with the Caps and was there only player and temporarily leading the league in points but not now. But is he under the impression he is still worth that much? I would think he would be aware that he isn't the future of the time, nor is he the player he was 5 years ago, etc. so is going to ask for a similar contract at the end of this year? Or will he resign for less?
-
Just a question geared towards a comment made earlier. What has Lang done to piss of enough fans and managment? Is it the whole Lazy and Sucking thing? Or is there some internal thing I am not aware of.
-
Possibly, but Buffalo wouldn't. Some teams will be willing in the off-season to over pay Dats for sure, but teams that are doing well (like Buffalo) and know that they are heading to the playoffs, aren't going to trade for a playoff no-show. Besides, trade dealine passed, and they are both UFA, so they may leave both those teams without a trade ever being a possibility. Realistically, I see Buffalo keeping Briere before Drury, and I am not as big a fan of Drury. P.S. Thank you Crymson for that point on Souray ... waaaay too many ppl on here drooling over him. Pass.

I actually really liked the draft lottery from the year following the lock-out. It was actually really exciting to watch ... for an event that generally I would never watch. True, there is the fact that it was the Crosby sweepstakes that year, but at the same time it offered a remote chance for top teams to get a good draft choice.

I kinda had a feeling this was going to happen, but at the same time I was wishing and praying to have all our boys back when we come into Van. They are hot right now, and I knwo with our full roster we could take them, it will be interesting to see how this weekend ends up playing out.

Hitting is an essential part of the game ... Absolutley. And injuries will happen until the end of time. Its a fast, hard hitting sport, it is inevitable. But there is a huge difference between a solid body to body check to a body to head check. Punish a guy for putting his head down? Come on ... that is just stupid. I understand the importance that must be put on players to keep their heads up and be aware of the play around them at all times, but the real issue is a guy noticing a guy in a vulnerable position and hitting him. I love big hits dont get me wrong, but there is nothing cool about head shots. It is not necesaary at all in the Game.
-
The guy obviously knows he isnt being called up to score goals, so he is trying to mix it up right away. And I suppose thats fine and all. But that is a hell of a lot for one game. And the hit was pretty bad, looked like he was bleeding, so desipite you guys he call it clean, a body check that results in a head blow still is NO GOOD. And 3 fights by one guy? Come on ... fighting is a Part of the game for sure ... but it isn't The Game.

Exactly as a few above. Of course Cherry would pick a Canadian to win over a Euro/Russian. And a Stall at that ... dont get me wrong, for the most part I like Cherry, but he goes off about the Stalls like they are the greatest thing in history. Most ppl got there way a few years ago when Kovalchuk and Healtey were rookies. I am Canadian, and a very proud Canadian, but I thought Kovy had a more impressive first campaign, but Healtey won it. (before I start I will mention I am not a Crosby hater ... but nor to I slaivate over him) With some of the play Sid has made this year, I doubt the Markov hit and Dats goal will get the attention it deserves, but the hit and subsiquent play above is my favorite play of this season. Not simply based on it being Red Wings, but it somes up why I love hockey. A crushing hit, followed by some gorgeous stick handling, and a sweet goal. Love it!!!

Man would I absolutley LOVE to have our full lineup next weekend to face Vancouver. I live in BC, and I usually have to go to war with all my friends during this matchup. And Vancouver is very hot right now, so I would love our full force on display. And even though I traditionally (yes before the 'incident') did not like Bert, I would love to see him out there beating them up with sum punishing hits. I do know he however, is unlikely, but perhaps 'Z' and most of the other injuries could be back in the lineup.

Haha, I was getting worried, ... it has been a solid 2 1/2 weeks since this last came up. And ... NO!!! I know that is nothin more than my own opinion. Detroit has been and still is very important to the western conference. I believe in one of the past threads about this topic it was pretty solidly determined that Columbus would be moving east if that were to happen. I thought Detroit's game vs. Toronto was incredibly entertaining this year, and I think an effort should be made during the summer when considering reschedueling, to have teams with historical importance (like those two) to play eachother more even without a conference shift. Consider this guys ... If Pitts does move, our division will have Nashville, Kansas City, and Detroit. We will have a kick ass division to watch. Lots of entertainment, heated battles fighting for playoff spots. Could be great.

Bert is returning soon. He has been returning soon for the last 3 months.
