    Conan O'Brien

I will look for a link, but did anyone watch Conan tonight? He was discussing how NBC pushed back programing simply to keep the overtime's running. And how his show didnt get to air till' 2:30 in the morning ... yada-yada-yada ... ... but the most hilarious part, he said ... "Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Pirates." Truth is, I'm not sure not sure I should actually laugh, seeing as how it simply shows a lack of knowledge of our sports premier event. But still.

6 Canadian teams account for 31% of league revenue

Exactly. I'm Canadian, but i personally dont know if Quebec city, or Winnipag deserves a team. I dont doubt they love their hockey there, but ... what happens if teams are moved there and they suck. Obviously for the first few seasons, ticket sales will be high, ... but it could easily return to the same atmosphere that saw the teams lieqave in the first place.

Red Wings might have good shot at Sundin

I cant see him leaving TO for another team, but if he left now, as a UFA, and the Leafs got nothing for him ... WOW. I dont even know what i'd say. That would be a huge blow. Not just to TO, but also to his legacy as a Leaf.

SCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Penguins 0

It's late, I have closed the bar tonight, i open it in the morning so that I will have the evening off for that game. ... and all I can say is ... Holy s***, I am jacked!!!! GO WINGS!!!

    When do the Penguins implode?

I'd really like to think that, but personally I hope that is not what the players think. I remember after the 02' victory, Shanny was talking about winning, and it wasn't when the wings were up 3 games to 1, that they knew they were going to win, it was in the final moments of game 5 when they netted the empty net goal. Think about that, ... that is insane, and crazy that a team as talented as that one wasn't in the mind set that they were about to win the cup untill 30 seconds left in the game. Play to the final buzzer boys!!!

    Sedin's Futures

Hey, I heard about this a few days ago, but waited to see if anything came of it. With a new GM, and a restless town, Vancouver is obviously looking at its options. And I have heard rumours that the new GM is not positive the Sedins are the players he wants to build his team around. There is really no solid evidence on the other than a few clips of Gillis talking about this, but what are the possibilities here? Do they have a No Trade Clause? Or a 'must be traded together clause?' Just curious as to how this would go down. How much are they worth? I'm in no way (stress that point) talking about a Detroit involvement, but none the less it would be a big mid-summer move.

    Penguins franchise deserves no credit

The Pens are absolutley staked right now, and yes, the primarily owe that to the draft. But, those draft spots, as mentioned several times above, came from being such a brutal team for a few years. In regards to draft solutions ... I would like to see a lottery every year that included all 30 teams. I would like it to be balanced, so that the last placed team does have a higher shot of winning than the rest. And what woudl we prefer? Though Detroit has a had a few playoff bombs for a few years, we still have had a very entertaining product to watch. Personally I wouldn't trade the seasons we have had for a string of dead last finishes to get some high draft picks. (even if it meant getting Sid and Malkin)

WCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 2, Stars 1

I'm so jacked for this game, I will be working, but will have the game on right above my head at the bar. It is going to be a bigger challenge than game 1 for sure, but none the less, with our top players, playing like the top players, I see Detroit taking this game as well. GO WINGS!!!!!!

anyone else worried about the versus commercials

I've been watching them for some time, and something that I think woulda been really cool, is if they made like 50 of them, and as teams got eliminated, they only continued to run the ones with players still going for the cup. And on a side note, the ones I have seen for the NBA playoffs with 2 players and a split screen, are wicked too. I really, really like them.

    Don cherry on HNIC

Which is it ... well ... I'm saying, if we have a winning product, thats the final word period. But (there can always be a but) maybe I'm alone, but I think most people will agree that the atmosphere definatley can elivate it to the next level. And I'm not saying players are simply going to say no to Detroit, simply that it is a possibility. just a thought.

    Game one notes...

Not exactly replying to the topic, but I'm just adding that I personally appreciate having you around on these boards. It is always nice to have opinions from the other side of the story. In any case, regardless of how awesome I think this Red WIngs squad is, I dont see this being an easy series. Dallas has been strong all season, and they have been just as strong so far this playoffs. And, that game 6 against San Jose was the most exciting game i think I have watched in years. That awesome. I continue to look forward to a wicked series, of course eventually in the Wings favour.

They talked about it on PTI today as well. From what I understand, in readings, articles, and the ppl on LGW's who live in Mich, the games generally are sold out correct? Just people dont go. And while some people are enthusiastic, the majority sit quietly as if watching a movie. This isn't something new, it is a trend that has been coming for sometime now, and I really, honestly believe it isn't a tougher, meanier kinda hockey that will put asses in the seats, but it will take Detroit sucking. This team will have to miss the playoffs. People will have to remember what it is like to not have hockey in Detroit come spring. And why should Detroit fans care if there are empty seats if we still have the winning team? Well, truth be told, I dont think it matters. BUT ... it adds to the emotion, the feeling, and the excitement of the playoffs. When I watched the Calgary games, Washington games, Pittsburg games, and I hear those fans screaming and they dont shut up and the place is packed, it gets me going. I love seeing it. And, we also have to consider, that eventually players, (despite how well teh organization treats them) may eventually chose to play in a city where they recieve more support.

    5-9 GDT: (2) Pittsburgh vs. (6) Philadelphia

    hahaha. I like that.

    5-9 GDT: (2) Pittsburgh vs. (6) Philadelphia

Sorry to any Philly fans, but I after the Pens went up 3-0 over New York, I remember simply saying that whoever won out of Philly vs. Montreal to simply give the Pens a bit of a test. Atleast 6 games. Truth is, I am suprised Philly got this far, so maybe they have it in them, but like most, I just can't see them competing with the talent of the Pens.

    Eastern Conference hockey

so far in these playoffs, i have felt like the west teams of Detroit, Dallas and San Jose were the strongest, but the Eastern games were faaar more entertaining to watch. Almost every series has been entertaining, from on ice to play, to the level of intensity in the stands.

    GDT-Pens/Rangers and Stars/Sharks

Well, I kinda wanted the Rangers to pull this one out. And trying to take any bias that I might have outta the situation, I still think the refering and calls or lack of were brutal. The Pens seemed to get away with quite a bit.

    Ladies equivalent to playoff beard

Ok, I'm in a rough situation. And, it is about a girl. I met her about two months back, and she was awesome. Gorgeous. Anyway, she was in town visiting a friend, and since then she has decided to move here. Now, today will be her first day here, and seeing as how her friend works with me, I imagine she will be coming to the bar where I work. Problem, I have this ugly ass beard on my face!!! This is a tough call, because I want to make that first good impression, but at the same time, I have put in two rounds of commitment into this baby. Ladies, help me out ... what do i do? (HAHA, I know the answer already, I'm just displaying my sacrifice)

GDT - Philadelphia at Montreal Game 5

at the beginning of the season i never thought montreal would be this far, but saying that, at this point, I really didnt think the Flyers woudl have montreal in the position they do. I'm still pulling for New York to win one more game, but if the Pens do win, all I ask of the winner of Mon/Philly is to give the Pens a bit of a run.
