If I remember correctly the "Crosby Clause" was created when Lids, Dats and Crosby were going to skip the ASG because all 3 were banged up. Buttman got his feelings hurt and wanted them to at least show up for the festivities. Not seeing where any double standard would be this year since Crosby is injured and not playing just as the rule requires.

I have direct TV and have only watched 2-3 games on the Center Ice Package, I got the sports package(all the fox sports channels) and between Versus-NHLN-Fox sports haven't needed Center Ice.

this is working out great.........so do they actually show anything besides Crosby on this network?

this is crap, Center Ice - FSD - Versus and i have to watch the crapy NHL channel that has to get its from FSD. There didn't seem to be any tech problems till Gary got his hands in it

If this is the start of the season, why do the Wings have a pre-season game tonight?

Saw the end of the first and part of the second, not bad with what we had. Really looking forward to having the all regulars playing.

If it doesn't get beat to crap during the summer then it would be a waist. Thats one of the best parts of winning the cup, any othe trophy gets stuck on a shelf the day after its won. The cup parties should be as hardcore as what the players have to do to get it.

Since the population of California is roughly 3 time that of Michigan makes it a little sadder I believe Tampa had a parade with about 50,000 (not sure) and they have a couple teams.

That seems more of a problem with the team management than where the team is from. Every team can spend the same amount now, if the GM's can't figure out how to manage their resources then they need to be replaced with some one that can. If When the wings win the cup are they going to have a fire sale the next year. Nobody has a gun to the GM's head making him overpay for a few players. If the player really wants to be there he'll be a little more likely to get creative with the contract to help the team (how many Wings took pay cuts to bring in players they thought would help), Dom's contract this year for example. The one thing that has helped Dallas is they had a good core and they kept them. The fans were able to see the same players every year which gave the team an identity/personality.(That and they were in the hunt pretty consistantly)A good amount of northern transplants didn't hurt eather.

Bettman needs to spend his time working on marketing and improving the TV coverage and leave the playing to the players. This whole conference rivalry scheme is crap. You cant schedule a rivalry, they happen on the ice. Who cares if we play the jackets 10 times next year, we aren't going to meet them in the playoffs. If you play the same teams year after year in the playoffs its going to develop a little heat to it, esp if you see them more then couple times in the regular season. Ducks are a good example, we've be booted from the playoffs twice by them, this year there was a little more bite to the series. The regular season games might be a little more spirited next year and if we meet them in the playoffs the Wings will have something to prove. I'd rather see more none conference games.
