No doubt. Bad enough getting scored on without having to listen to them celebrate -

gdt WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 2 OT (CHI wins series, 4-3)

Time to get back to posting rather than lurking. Whatever happens, I am really proud of this team. I gue ss we are so unworthy to be on the ice with theyse hawks that it takes OT in game seven... -
9/28 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks

I'm liking the depth this year, if this is the 'B' team, we can't be doing too badly -
No, you aren't the only one. It did seem a little questionable, depending on who 'had' the puck. On the one hand it should be fine to blast the guy with the puck off of the path toward the goal. On the other hand, they both seemed to be racing for a loose puck going toward the end boards. Within the new interpretation of the boarding rules it does seem a bit borderline to me, but after twenty plus years of watching I still have no damn idea what the hell the criteria are...
-
Damn, that picture is almost as cringe-worthy as watching the replay of how he hit the boards. What a shame, not a nice way to be repaid for really hustling to make the play edit: punctuation is a good thing

9/21 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings 2 at Penguins 3

I won't say the defense looked great, but it seemed to me that Smith has a few things to learn. Commodore had to play the split on the two on one, twice, paired with the young man. Smith was doing some nice stuff, and when he was there he shut down well. He just seemed to be somewhere else on the ice at moments that defense might have been helpful -

I like to root for the little guy, but last season after spending a year in the KHL, he just did not have the wheels to get into position fast enough to make any use of his vision on the ice. He won't ever be big, and he certainly won't ever skate like Pavel Bure. But, the added quickness I saw this game might be enough for him to start getting some points again. I for one never thought it was lack of effort; what I saw was the inability to scoot his ass from A to B quick enough to do a damn thing. That, along with a lack of confidence left him pretty useless. I really hope he rounds back into form, because then he adds an offensive depth to the team that is hard to cover all the time. I know, eternal damn optimist -

looks like the second goal was Hudler with a deflection. I'm happy to see it, but let the arguments commence... edit: terrible typing -

If I didn't have to listen to the announcers polishing his knob, I might have admitted to myself he played well -

I thought that call was over the top, but what bothered me more was that that got 5, while the shove from Letang on Tatar gets nothing. Bad calls are bad, but if they're going to call it like that, at least call it consistently... Ah well. -
This is why Commodore was the best signing ever...
Austrianwing replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
I'll go on record to say that Commodore 64 is just straight up funny, and I say why the hell not? The article above seems really uptight to me. What the hell is wrong with a little fun? Anyone remember this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br0bBXtABXs Having a few laughs does not equal not taking the franchise seriously, -
I'm not sure why, but I think you are right about it being worse if they won. Seems like there are lots of folks looking for an excuse to have themselves a riot. The part of town probably figures too...
-
Wow, that's just plain embarrassing .
-
"Forwards don't like this guy" oh my. Edit: got a little tongue tied myself, what the hell, can't hurt the confidence having Mister Hockey himself show up in the lockeroom for a drive-by compliment
-
Exactly the point. Just a little bit of LGW history for amusement...

Sorry to do this, but I got to thinking about discussions past... Seemed like it might be amusing to resurrect a Zombie of an old thread given the circumstances. Hope it's worth a couple of laughs

Thanks for the link. I had to go take a midterm for a computer engineering class tonight so I did not get to watch. Nice to hear the highlights with the right announcers finally. I came so close to blowing off that test, but I figured I couldn't expect my team to commit to working through whatever unpleasantness was at hand if I was not going to. Maybe it's superstitious, but I don't think I would have added as a fan by flaking out just because I wanted to do the easy thing and stay home to watch like I wanted to...

That game seven against the Blues was indescribable. I'm not sure how I would even try to relate the total freakout I engaged in when Stevie scored that goal. But, right now I am hoping this is the game six leading to the game seven that followed against the 'lanche in '02... I actually missed seeing game seven and was stuck with listening on the radio, because I was in Denver helping a friend move away from there that day. I did get to wander around Denver that night to see all their fans stumbling around, dazed. Beer never tasted so good...

WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)

Wow, forgot just how much these guys flop. Thought I must have been exaggerating it in my memory, but it's more like I blocked it out... -
Blues fan here, can I offer some perspective?
Austrianwing replied to ShakeyWalton's topic in General
didn't mean to send you off on a bender... I was not sure you were around back then. I actually miss the days of the Blues being perennially in the playoffs. Can't say I will wish you luck the next time we meet up, but I would like to see it happen more often. edit: In the playoffs! -

Thanks Shakey, I have my worries about the team right now, but I think folks really are a little spoiled. I think back to the series with your Blues in '96; watching game seven of that series was one of the most exciting, nail-biting times I can remember in my life. The fortunes of the two teams went in different directions after that game... While I can appreciate people being pissed off at our team playing well below what they should be capable of (they do have the personnel to avoid getting their asses handed to them that badly when they lose, to any team). I also wonder about the 'expectation' that we should win. The fans get rightfully angry when they sense that attitude, but they are just as guilty of it. I hate seeing the team not play to their capabilities, but on the whole, we have had it really good. -
Haha, hope it works! I'd rather see him do something than not
-
He was also one of exactly two Wings that was not a minus tonight... I have not been all that impressed by Hudler this season, but I wonder why no-one actually expected Helm to bury the setup he got tonight. There is always a whipping boy on here.

sounds like you have played with cameras a bit. Seems like a lot of the autofocus mechanisms on cameras try to do the same thing. I know that for portraits the eyes are a good default focus point when you are using a large aperture with a narrow depth of field. On the other hand if you try the zoom to focus, you better hope that the lens can keep focus as the zoom changes... guess that might just be a problem for folks like me that can't spend the money for good lenses all that often.. End of my drunken rambling for now Just finished my last final so I am a little less than on topic
