Grabovski is not exactly Russian. He is Belorussian.
-
Same here. Grabovski plays hard. Floating around it not what he is known for. I would be more concerned with his durability given how recklessly he plays sometimes.
-
I think that KHL would benefit from replacing some of the Russian teams having financial problems with Finnish and eventually maybe Swedish teams. After Jokerit joins Sweden is the only major hockey country in Europe which does not have a team in KHL.
-
It sounds like the buying is already done.
-
These things have tendency to come out anyway. In addition to being a nice blackmail target.
-
That gives more reasons not to buy him out. That would be like flushing $50M they do not have down the drain.
-
I think in a normal buyout (not amnesty) the cap hit is spread over twice the remaining duration of the contract. I am not sure if actual money are also spread out or paid as a lump sum.
-
Devils got a lot of cap space. And Kovalchuk played well for them so far. Devils struggled when he was injured this spring. So I would say this is an unlikely buyout and an expensive one.

Even better one on one with Dats playing for Detroit. This I would like to see. -
Yes, my bad. "Compliance buyout" as capgeek calls it does not count against the cap.
-
This is what capgeek gives as cap hit breakdown for buyout of Franzen. There is almost no cap hit for a few first years but there is in later years. Johan Franzen buyout from CapGeek.com 2013-14: $25,974 2014-15: $25,974 2015-16: $25,974 2016-17: $1,525,974 2017-18: $3,025,974 2018-19: $4,025,974 2019-20: $4,025,974 2020-21: $1,071,429 2021-22: $1,071,429 2022-23: $1,071,429 2023-24: $1,071,429 2024-25: $1,071,429 2025-26: $1,071,429 2026-27: $1,071,429

I support visors because vital body function, namely vision. But I think talking about psychological trauma caused caused to a third party is taking this way too far. In my opinion most of that "pain and suffering" stuff your hear about in court verdicts is plain garbage. -

I think we are going off-topic here but the other side of freedom is personal responsibility for ones actions. If a hockey player were to cover his own medical care and compensate team for the portion of his contract he is unable to fulfill because that player decided not to wear a mandated piece of equipment, suffered an injury and now unable to play that would be fair. But I doubt anybody is willing to go there to preserve their freedom from regulations. -
Yes. And they have 21 player under contract for the next year so they really only required to find a backup goalie. Some of those contracts (5) are small (under $1M) two-way contracts. They can send some of the kids down, which would add some cap space but I do not think they need or even want to resign all their UFAs.

I was going to write that fighting issue is easy to fix, just penalize the guy who fights having a visor on. But then I though how many times you see a guy being taken down during the fight. So taking helmets off before the fight is not really the safest thing to do. Better hit your knuckles against the visor than your head against the ice. -

Not with that oxygen tank on your back. Just make them all astronauts. -
Unfortunately my typo does not make it any cheaper.
-
Capgeek says it would cost $15M of real money to buy Franzen out. Real money matter way more than cap money. This is quite different from buying out a guy with 1 or 2 years left. And Wings would have to take cap hit from this buyout for the next 14 years.

And why stop at helmets. All those pads are heavy and restrict players ability to move. Away with all that. Just skates, shorts and a stick. -
After Ottawa got up 4-1 they had a full 5 on 5 fight. Simply awesome. 10 fighting majors at 7:04 in 3rd.

Norris Finalists announced: Letang, Subban, Suter
Pskov Wings Fan replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Out of the three Suter is the most capable at playing defense. I just hope Subban does not win. He just comes across as an as****e. -
It is a short step from 'whining' to 'winning'.

Dude even looked up to check if ref saw that But even if Canucks get that penalty shot I think that this game is done.
-
5-1. Canucks might be the first team out of playoffs. Good for them.
-
Canucks just fell apart. Two SJ goals 9 seconds apart.
