Not sure about this. I got to see a lot of Red Army team and the USSR team in the eighties and they did block a lot of shots by dropping on the ice.

Blocking shots properly is a skill. Jumping on the puck just because you got balls but no idea how to do it and keep your balls intact is plain stupid. There are cases when player got to try to block a shot but it does not mean dropping in front of every slapshot from blueline. I would prefer Dats to be in the lineup for the duration of playoffs rather than being knocked out because he blocked a shot with a wrong part of his body. I guess Cherry did not bother to notice that Datsyuk's defensive play is quite good. The guy is interesting to listen to sometimes but he is way too biased for his opinion to be respectable.

Too bad for Radulov. He got 3 goals in 2 games and was pretty good. But the hit was from behind and the way Preds were playing somebody was going to get suspended.
