  2. 1st the signing of Franzen over Hossa whoch now looks worse and worse. Weiss signing over Filppula. Yes there was time where Filppula looked lost but let's face it at half the player he is better then Weiss. Those 25 goals and 33 assists would have looked nice on the roster last year. He used his last buyout on Tootoo who was to make a little over 1 million this year on the last year of his deal...why? This season its sitting back and watching other teams pick up players. I know the Red Wings aren't really a destination anymore but I wouldn't have bitched even if the Red Wings took a 1 year flyer on Heatley. Which he ended up signing for 1 million with Anaheim. Hell they should have just bit the bullet and brought legwand back. Now there is no promise that even Alfredsson will come back. Also with the talks of trading Tatar for Green I just don't know anymore. I've tried soo hard to support Holland but I just can't anymore.

    Renney out, Granato in

I'm ok with Granato but defensively I know its not going to happen but they need a coach like Chelios to teach some of these bums how to play defense.

    Mike Green to Wings?

I hope this is an Eklund rumor http://www.hockey-trades.com/2014/07/nhl-trade-rumors-mike-green-to-detroit.html

What would you give up for Malkin?

I said maybe Emmerton. I wouldnt part with any young player unless they get great value back.
  7. RainingBlood

    If Hossa gets bought out..

Im hoping the devils buy out Kovalchuk. He would be the sniper on the powerplay the wings desperately need.

What would you give up for Malkin?

I wouldnt do it for Nyquist. I would trade 2 1st round picks, smith, Tatar or Sheahan for Malkin. The only few untouchables out of the young players are Brunner(if he reups) andersson,Nyquist, DeKeyser , and maybe Emmerton. The rest are fair game.

    Rangers buying out Richards?

Id rather keep Filp than sign richards. Plus Filp career has a better faceoff percentage than Richards.
  10. If the wings can pull it out saturday. That will be a series win over the ducks and hawks. I seriously dont see how they dont make it to the finals and win it all. This team has out played the hawks in all aspects.
  11. This came directly from hawktalk board "CBC announcer: "The Red Wings system is really stymieing the Hawks". Yeah, I'd say hooking, holding and interference would do that. Not sure I'd call it a "system". I'd call it cheating. But, what is cheating if the refs don't make the calls? Oh, that's right, it's called "Red Wings hockey". Im playing the worlds smallest violin for them...like they havent gotten away with murder during the regular season

    Red Wings Alumni lineup

I really interested to see the Lineup the Red Wings will bring out. My dream lineup for the game which I know wont be completey accurate. 1st Line-Hull,Yzerman,Shanahan 2nd line-Fedorov,Larionov, Kozlov 3rd line-Brown,Sheppard,Oates 4th line(Grind Line)-Maltby,Draper,McCarty ... Defense 1st-Lidstrom(if retired) or Schneider, Murphy 2nd-Rafalski,Chelios 3rd-Coffey,Fetisov Goalies Osgood, Hasek,Cheveldae coach scotty bowman I don't see Fedorov being apart of it know his relationship with the organization and his contract with the KHL. Same goes with Kozlov with his KHL contract. The rest seem like they could all play unless working for the NHL prevents Shanahan, and working for NHL teams pervents Bowman, Yzerman, and Oates

Brad Stuart to the West Coast?

The way the sharks have dismantled the redwings this year so far it would be stupid to trade Stuart there

    Red Wings Alumni lineup

when doing it I thought the same thing. Hull Shanahan and yzerman would be good for 40 goals combbined maybe more

    Flyers fans boo anti-cancer commercial

You are right, not to mention the Eagles pelted the skinny drunk santa clause in 1968 when the Eagles were loosing to the Minnesota Vikings and finished off last place 2-12. They hired a drunk skinny santa who was at the game as a fan to attend the game to run on the field. Its like they were shooting him with guns. The fan was Ocean City native Frank Olivio. They tracke dhim down last year and said he got a laught when they started to throw snowballs. Got snowballs are the most non lethal thing they could have thrown. Now on the flyers fans behalf I live in Philadelphia area and hate the Flyers. I have to defend them on the basis of they were not booing cancer. They couldnt hear what was being said on the screen. They saw Crosby who they hate, Towes who just held the cup up in their building a few seasons ago, and Ryan Miller who gave them fits in the playoffs last season so they booed. After the video was over it says NHL fights cancer. These are the same fans that in 1993 on his 1st game back from radiation gave Mario Lemieux a 7 minute standing ovation for a player that they despised. Every time he touched the puck they cheered. He got a goal in a Philadelphia 5-4 win and Lemieux got a cheer from the crowd when he scored. This situation is so blown out of proportion.

    schedule?

who the hell makes the schedule. Since they beat the Avs they have had 5 days off. After thursday game they play on saturday. The next game after the blue jackets on saturday is friday which is another 6 days. I just hope this isnt a scheduling trend throughout the year.
  17. RainingBlood

    schedule?

I know it does. It just seemed last year when the wings would hit a roll get some momentum. They then would be off for 5 days.

Red Wings Making Play for Modano

well in that case what number does he wear because as we all know #9 is retired

    Kovie

He has a NTC clause not a no movement clause. Means he has no choice but to go to GR if no one claims him off waivers. He will still make his 6 million dollars but it won't effect the Redwings salary cap wise.
  22. RainingBlood

    Kovie

The Redwings could get him if they wanted. Because from what I know and correct me if im wrong, that even though Rafalski has a NTC that doesn't prevent Detroit from waiving him. If someone claims him that 6 million off the books, and if not he clears he goes to GR and 6 million still comes off the books. Capgeek.com has the redwings under cap by 3 million barring abdelkader and helm sign for. Now if the redwings were to sign Kovalchuck for 8.5, and forgo helm and sign abdelkader to his contract he made last year. The Redwings would be just a little over 6 miliion over the cap. Now you take Rafalski's contract off the book, you freed the money to add kovalchuck. I believe that if any team signs Kovalchuck they have to be under the cap by training camp.

    Mindfly version of DRW 2010/2011

why would helm take less then abdelkader, when Helm is more proven that him. Helm scored the GWG that sent then to the finals 2 years ago.

    Wings Sign Joey MacDonald

http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=533858 Wings add depth, sign Joey MacDonald Team also signs pair of veteran forwards Tuesday, 07.06.2010 / 1:05 PM / News Grand Rapids Griffins GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Red Wings added to their depth by signing long-time Grand Rapids Griffins goalie Joey MacDonald and veteran forwards Jamie Johnson and Chris Minard. Already one of the greatest goaltenders in Griffins' franchise history, the 30-year-old MacDonald returns to the organization for which he starred from 2002-07. His 16 shutouts still rank first on Grand Rapids’ all-time list, while his career totals of 164 goaltender games played, 9208:13 minutes played, 88 wins and 4,251 saves stand second behind only current Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard. In addition, his 0.921 save percentage ties for third in club annals while his 2.37 goals against average ranks sixth. MacDonald still owns the Griffins' single-season records for goaltender games played (AHL-high 66 in 2004-05), starts (64 in 2004-05), minutes played (AHL-high 3754:40 in 2004-05), wins (tied, 34 in 2004-05), shutouts (tied, six in 2003-04), saves (1,785 in 2004-05) and save percentage (0.936 in 2003-04), while his 1.97 GAA from 2003-04 stands as the second-lowest in the Griffins’ 14 seasons. MacDonald also owns the franchise marks for consecutive starts (24 in 2004-05), consecutive goaltender games played (31 in 2004-05), longest road winning streak (nine in 2002-03), saves in a period (tied, 24 in 2004-05) and home shutout streak (242:18 in 2003-04, when he became the only Griffin to post three straight shutouts at Van Andel Arena). During the 2002-03 season, MacDonald and teammate Marc Lamothe shared the AHL’s Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award for outstanding team goaltending. Other honors during his Griffins tenure included a spot in the 2005 AHL All-Star Classic, an AHL Player of the Week nod (Feb. 16, 2004), and the Griffins’ 2004-05 AHL Man of the Year award. After making his NHL debut in eight games with the Red Wings during the 2006-07 season, MacDonald was claimed on waivers and finished the year in Boston. He then spent two years in the New York Islanders’ organization, including the entire 2008-09 campaign in the NHL when he appeared in 49 games, posted a 0.901 save percentage and earned his lone NHL shutout, a 42-save, 2-0 win over Detroit on March 27, 2009 at Joe Louis Arena. He was also named the NHL’s Third Star of the Month for November 2008, when he tied for the league lead in wins (8-5-1) and compiled a 2.64 GAA and a 0.916 save percentage. Last season, MacDonald split time between Toronto’s NHL and AHL clubs, posting a 1-4-0 mark, a 3.20 GAA and a 0.892 save percentage in six appearances with the Maple Leafs, and going 14-19-3 with two shutouts, a 3.18 GAA and a 0.893 save percentage in 36 games with the Marlies. He was traded by Toronto to Anaheim on March 3 in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft but did not appear in any contests for the Ducks. In 72 career NHL games, MacDonald shows an 18-38-9 record with a 3.30 GAA and a 0.900 save percentage. Johnson, 28, is coming off a career season with Rochester in 2009-10, as he led the Americans and tied for 11th in AHL scoring with 71 points in 80 games. He also placed among the circuit’s leaders with 27 goals (T18th) and 44 assists (T14th), leading Rochester to a second-place finish in the North Division. Prior to spending the 2008-09 season in Finland with TPS Turku, Johnson also paced the AHL’s Albany River Rats in scoring during the 2007-08 campaign, totaling 58 points (21-37—58) in 79 contests. Over 269 career AHL appearances, Johnson shows 186 points (63-123—186) and 96 penalty minutes. Prior to making his league debut with Iowa in 2005-06, he played his first two pro seasons in the ECHL, highlighted by a 2004-05 campaign with Augusta during which ranked second in the league with 58 assists and 80 points (tied) and was named a Second Team All-Star. Minard, 28, has been a point-per-game player in the AHL during the last two seasons, contributing 95 points (56-39—95) over 94 games with the Springfield Falcons (2009-10) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2008-09). A starter for the Canadian All-Star Team at the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, he has appeared in 253 career AHL games, totaling 205 points (120-85—205) and 145 PIM. After helping Wilkes-Barre/Scranton reach the 2008 Calder Cup Finals, Minard enjoyed his most productive AHL campaign the following season, logging 34 goals and 57 points in just 54 games with the Penguins. A 2004-05 ECHL First Team All-Star when he ranked first in the league with 49 goals and fourth with 78 points, Minard capped off his ECHL career by winning a Kelly Cup with the Alaska Aces in 2005-06, then made his NHL debut in 15 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins during 2007-08. He appeared in a career-high 20 NHL games with the Penguins during their Stanley Cup season of 2008-09, contributing three points (1-2—3), then tallied one assist in five appearances with the Edmonton Oilers last season, giving him 40 games and six points (2-4—6) on his NHL resume. What does this mean for Osgood?
