    Goaltender equipment to change

Beat me to it, Osgood's leg pads are ridiculous, he and Garth Snow are the two guys I can think of that do that board extension on the top of the rise aftermarket, I thought modding your pads post-factory was illegal now???

Could Alexei Yashin return to the NHL?

Well if he's such a pathetic player now why is he voted best player in the postseason in Russia? There's really no reason to hate this guy as much as people think it's cool to. It's not like he's twisting anyone's arm either, teams can pay guys whatever they want, if they didn't want to pay Yashin $10 million a season, they shouldn't have offered it. They know the rules, the players all take the money. And now again, people slagging Yashin because the Islanders are interested again...Alex sounds happy to stay in Russia, but also up for a return to the Isles. What's so wrong with that, huh?

    Ray Emery bought out

People know that to get Miller Detroit will either be unloading Howard or Osgood right with both under contract beyond Ryan's UFA status? And they are OK with that?

    Curtis Joseph

I laugh when people talk about Joseph and "great" goaltenders...this guy has rarely done anything memorable and has had as many chokefests as upsets...sure he's hung on awhile to get his win total high, and I admired his play in that San Jose game in the playoffs, but what's the lure, I ask? Why no one ever mentions Dwayne Roloson is beyond me...

Need a reason to love Osgood? Look here...

Osgood sucks, Brodeur sucks, etc. etc...Chris was great this year but mediocre most other years. Brodeur has played pretty well in the last few so suddenly his days of seeing 15 shots a game are raised to a pedestal...face it, if Osgood had lost this year, everyone would hate the guy...so why does winning it this year elevate him so much. He was a big reason for winning but his career has been pretty average at best.

    Jimmy Howard

What a tease that "now with Hasek news" part. I want Dwayne Roloson.

    Official: Hasek announces retirement

If my simulated Playstation hockey seasons are to be believed, and by all signs they should be, Dom will somehow end up on Dallas at age 44 and lead them to the Finals only to lose. In other news: "Press conference called: Hasek second-guessing retirement" p.s. only the second tidbit should be taken seriously

    Official: Hasek announces retirement

I can't see Dom being a coach...from my memories he's never expressed interest in this. We're just as likely to see him in an old-timers game.

Rank The Red Wings Stanley Cups

2002 was the best b/c of the team of HOFers, defeating the nemesis Avs in the best series I've ever watched in my life, coming back against Vancouver, 3 OTs against Carolina, and the first Cups for several top players. 1998 second for getting Vladdy down on the ice and putting the Cup on his chair and skating with him holding it, that's one of the great moments in sports right there, I don't know why it's not shown more with the NHL's promotions celebrating the tradition and heart of the game, as touching a moment as I've seen in hockey. 1997 was exciting purely for the fact that it was the first in 40 some years although I admit to rooting for the Flyers that year. ha This year is probably the least exciting to be honest...like many supporters I felt pretty deflated after the OT loss and to win on the road just feels flat, the players are skating the Cup and lifting it to the crowd, but they're Penguins fans, I just was confused by it all...them too probably... also NBC's absolute s*** coverage and cheesy analysts didn't help things. Still a good win, the only team I'd have preferred win it is the Sabres...

    Memorial Cup breaks in two

This is a sad video, I can only imagine the disappointment of the players who won the thing, and their moment that they worked so hard for is ruined and forever tarnished in shame. I watched it twice just to get the effect, I won't watch it again.

    Why'd they stop doing this?

I recall in '94 and years around that before the first home game in each city in the Finals they would introduce every player on the team over the PA with a spotlight, just like the All-Star Game. For a league desperate for player recognition and an identity, this seemed like a great idea to help people know the faces who were involved in the biggest series, also made the Finals seem extra special when you had a grinder like a John McIntyre or Tim Hunter getting announced to the crowd, to show that the league appreciated teams and not just the scorers. As the years rolled on, they started only introducing the "starting lineups" which made no sense as this is not basketball/football/soccer where the starters play most/all of the game. So if the coach happened to be starting his third line, that would be the line introduced. Ridiculous. Nowadays I'm not sure they even bother with that...why not bring back the full team introduction?

    Should we lose game 6....

If Osgood loses this series he's going to be known as the biggest choke artist of his era. Period. No matter how many goals he gives up, there's no excuse for losing four straight games after being up 3-0. That being said, if this goes seven, does anyone really think Detroit wins it without making a change? They are a streaky team and their confidence is in the dumps right now. Btw anyone pretending that two lousy starts by Dom in a row mean he can't play anymore is pretty dismissive. Oz has played well even in the losses, but Hasek is not pate. Everyone contributed to get to this point and, specific fan biases aside, will ultimately win or lose as a team.

Dallas Columnist: Turco Better than Osgood

Regardless of style of writing you have to admit Turco>Osgood

    Ribiero's swing at Ozzie

Cheapshot by Ribeiro if you consider retaliation after an intentional stick knob to the face cheap...which it still is *sigh*. And it was a total dive by Ozzy, it was barely a tap right on his kevlar vest there (cue nongoalies explaining to me how little and thin padding there is on the chest, or how it was actually a Simon-swing to the throat not the mid chest)...nothing against him, Franzen could learn a thing or two last year vs. Cgy.

GDT - Philadelphia at Montreal Game 5

That second Flyers goal 100% touched the glove. That said, he didn't intentionally do anything. IF the rule is the puck can't touch the glove on the way to the net then it is a blown call, if there's something about intent then it's fine. Edit: There you go, they just said, if it just deflects, it's a goal.

    GDT - Pens v Rangers

What was the penalty call on the penalty shot? He just pushed him, is that not NOT A PENALTY? I thought the terminology "fouled from behind" required an actual foul.

WCSF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Avalanche 3

f*** Osgood, see how many people are going down on him when the Wings are down 0-2 to Dallas...it makes no sense to me how people can get so worked up when a guy is on a win streak and then so down when it goes the other way...it just makes you look stupid.

    Who gets signed?

Drake is old and it seems a lot of people don't want him back or don't expect him back but along with Kronner he's been far and away the most physically punishing Wing in the playoffs...I've been so surprised with how he's stepped up his hitting game in the postseason. p.s. Mark my words, The Glass Domino will be back, I'm guessing for the Avs.

Your thoughts on Ozzie's performance in game 5

I missed the middle of the game, but Os looked calm in there. Most saves looked easy (edit: I mean he made them look easy), I think anyone would look composed compared to Dom lately, he was fighting the puck in games 3 and 4. Overall CO played quite well and obviously will look to close out the series in game 6.

    Avery vs. Brodeur Battle Continues

Everyone's beloved "Marty" is a colossal ego who slept with his wife's sister... one of the lowest things you can do, he's one of the most overrated players in history and deserves to be called "Fatso" because he is one. A few biases around for those who could fault Sean Avery for Brodeur not shaking his hand because he played worse than Hasek in that series and decided to throw a fit about it. "I don't think about Scott Gomez anymore, he is not on the Devils."

Official: Osgood to start Game 5

As big a fan of Dom's as any, this is the right move and I am glad to see Babcock make it. I see this as akin to taking your goalie out of a blowout in a single game, you see he hasn't got it, so you save him the embarrassment. I would've dreaded Dominik playing in Game 5 just for the kind of criticism he would have to face given the likely outcome...he's not making saves, doesn't mean he can't or never will again, but this is a fine move. That said, this is almost certainly his finale...who knows, Osgood plays poorly in Game 5, maybe Dom is back for Game 6. I mean, what is there to lose? That being said, I would love to see Osgood win the rest of the games to the Cup. And I genuinely feel more confident with Chris starting these games and Wings in 6 is still quite possible. That's what it took to knock off CGY last year, people seem so quick to forget the same thing happened, Wings win first two at home, Flames win next two to tie. Anyway.
